  1. I don't have the original Cragger, so it's hard to tell where some of the modifications are, but he seems like an improvement. The addition of a tongue is a great touch.
  2. An interesting set, to be sure. I love the threefold joint construction, but I'm always a bit wary when it comes to white sets. Frost Beast definitely has a lot of interesting things going on, so I'll have to re-evaluate my stance on him. Thanks for the review!
  3. It's certainly refreshing to see a straight BIONICLE MoC in the forum these days (also, clever naming). The crossbow is definitely awesome; that it's actually functional is very cool, and the added plant elements suit it. The colors are unfortunately working against it; we have most conceivable forms of green on here, so that definitely creates some clashes, not to mention the additional blacks and greys. Most of the different colors come in Metru green, as far as I know (mask aside) so it might be a good idea to stick to that one color as a base, and work outward from there.
  4. Oh, if you've bought everything, then yeah. Ah well, I'm sure they'll appear on bricklink soon enough.
  5. Still works with older Hero Factory sets, no?
  6. I always hate relying on the in-store promotions because sometimes they'll forget to offer and I'll forget to ask, then I'll walk out of the store without it =P. But, given my general living situation, ordering online is neither monetarily beneficial nor expedient, so I'm going to hope they don't actually run out of them by the time I can get to my local store.
  7. Whelp, the Black Brain promotion is officially live, and valid on both in-store and online. Alas, I'm a few points short of a VIP discount, so I'm going to place a small order (Aquagon...?) and then decide what to do with the points later.
  8. I think it's like some kind of trap set by the Ravens, and when the Eagles dive out of the sky to pick up some Chi, they get caught by the hidden claw fang trap things. Maybe it rotates?* *does not rotate.
  9. Haha, did I say Brickeens? Silly me, meant Brickthing. Doesn't really help when the constraction line is often looked down upon. Jokes aside, your Rock Raider suggestion exemplifies that. Regardless, there's not much discussion that can resolve the issue. I'm content with waiting until the polls.
  10. Ah, chill, people. As far as I can tell, it's just Brickeens running the show round these parts. It's tough enough doing a one-man gig. It'll get done when it's ready; I'd rather wait for a finished product than get a half-baked peace offering now.
  11. Funky design. It definitely looks drone-ish, but guessing at the functionality is sort of difficult. There's not much shape or definition to it other than "blob". Some posing might have helped. Neat incorporation of thruster jets, though.
  12. Alas, I do not have the time to complete Eglor's twin bike, which is a shame, since it was shaping up quite nicely. Instead, I present the "Slugga", because Chima has some lolzy names apparently. Thank you, LEGO.
  13. I'm not even sure what their policy is on revisions. I've seen some people make changes, but only in the digital hero category, I think, so I dunno. Maybe you can sneak it in? =P
  14. Adorable original, and fearsome transformation. Good use of Stronius parts; the head as Snapdragon's underbelly is pretty cute. Sinnertwin is definitely a creative concept; a two-headed transformation isn't something I expected to see. Makes the brain attachment suffer a bit, unfortunately; it's an interesting attachment, to the underbelly, but since we can't see it from most angles, it loses a bit of the intended effect. The rest of the body is nicely constructed, and I love trans-orange cladding in general, so that's pretty cool. The ability to make him spit fire or stick his tongue out is also a great addition.
  15. Ah, I'm just so glad that people have found cool brain slug uses for this contest. Shows that a specialized piece can still find uses. It's an interesting mutated look, definitely not an idea we've seen so far, and I think it pays off. Lime and purple are a surprisingly efficient color scheme, though some more purple might have been nice. I'd have liked to see a Hero Core on her too; it looks like there's room on the chest, perhaps.
  16. I love how it's a spider that becomes a scorpion =P (that's okay, they're both arachnids). Very cool creation! The body is very tight and solid (in both cases), which is good; as with any all-black creation, some of the definition gets a little lost, so I might have liked to see some color accents on the transformation, but it's good regardless. The transformed version, especially, does a lot of neat things in construction, like the brain attachment (which hearkens back to Dragon Bolt) and the fangs on the Arachnix head. The lobster claws (sorry, they just remind me more of a lobster =P) are also tops, and use some pretty sweet construction. That you keep the original body as a base is really cool, since it definitely exemplifies what this contest is about. Another fine entry in this field.
  17. I like the mutated form; it both manages to capture the HF vibe and look recognizable from its original counterpart, which are two of the most important things for entries in this contest. The little guy is cute, but not quite as HF-ish as he could be, which is a bit sad. The weapon arm of the transformed version, though, is very cool.
  18. Funky name, but cool creation. Didn't realize you could get the visors in two-toned using LDD, that's some good stuff to know. A nicely consistent color scheme, and a neat little weapon. What more could one ask in a digital hero, honestly? Great posing too, by the way. That's always my bane in LDD.
  19. Very cool. It's always nice to see people come up with imaginative uses for existing helmets, and the flipped Witch Doctor one definitely works. The near-total red and white color scheme is also very cool (Witch Doctor definitely had some good ideas, in that regard), which makes the gunmetal and silver bits stand out even more than they should. I think it still fits with the overall style, but since they're the only pieces, they are accentuated more than perhaps was intended. Regardless, the angles and tubes all make for a fearsome looking dude, and I like it.
  20. Very cool weapon. I like the idea of the theme, a gryphon, though that could have come out a bit more in the wings. Regardless, a solid dedication to using lots of gold plates helps it stand out visually. It definitely looks like it might have a bit of articulation trouble, if I'm riding you right, but he can still pose nicely. Looking forward to seeing some edits.
  21. Some interesting color choices, but I think it all pays off; the trans fluorescent green shells and red bones mimic the Brain look very well, which was a neat design choice. The rest of the construction is a bit average; it's a standard Hero build, though seeing some simplicity is often as nice as seeing complexity. The custom torso is neat, but it doesn't look like it offers much of an advantage in terms of overall build where a normal Hero Torso could not have accomplished the same job, except for limited waist articulation. The colors definitely have the most going for them, despite there being a lot, and you made that work to the overall look.
  22. I suppose then the hosts could auction the thing off at face value plus, and use the proceeds to buy a third normal copy? Seems excessive, so I just hope that the signed sets go to somebody who wants them. And it's fine not to want the signed sets; I have no idea what I would do with them, personally (not that I stand a chance in any given category, since I'm only in one =P). It's just that wanting them specifically so that you can sell them to make a profit doesn't sit well with me, especially when you have somebody like Front, who said he would donate/give them away if he won them (which I suppose means he plans on entering... that'll be fun). Edit: Totally unrelated, but do you think we could get a list of the designer's names and their characters? I can make out most of them, but a few escape my grasp.
  23. Great set of MoC's. That the original Hero actually looks like a scuba guy is probably my favorite bit. Not only does it have a Hero feel despite being heavily Technic based, but it manages to use a villain helmet and still feel like a Hero MoC. The feet are the only thing that stick out to me, in an otherwise nicely flowing construction; the extensions to make him taller seem unnecessary, and limit his range of movement. The transformation is also great; being able to recognize the design elements of the original, such as the helmet and Tuma feet, is fantastic, and the integration of the brain slug in there is just tops. The Kraata makes a cool fin, too, though I'm sure it's fairly unstable (as they generally are). I'm a sucker for aquatic MoCs and sets, and this fits the bill on that. Also, he's eating a fish in the picture! That's hilarious.
  24. Haha, Nigel Breez, that's classic. I'm glad people have used the Hulk chest plate for something like this. The color distribution is a bit weird, with all the red concentrated in the back, but since you're basing it on the Breez model, it can work. The one white plate over his right shoulder, even if it's for gun stability, doesn't quite fit. I like the three mech toes, but since you mentioned it was for an different design originally, I can definitely see how they might not gel with the model overall. The red armpit plates (for want of a better term) also look slightly out of place; maybe they could be angled down more, to flow with the torso better? Not sure how well the helmet works, but that's just a design thing. I still think of Breez when I see it =P.
  25. The original bird form is fantastic, and definitely captures the right animal look. The mutated form, as mentioned, loses a lot of that. The asymmetry is nice, and it's obviously quite monstrous, but the addition of lime loses it a bit (even if that custom brain slug is adorable). Like many MoCs using a lot of old BIONICLE parts, it also isn't very poseable, which is something the new building system definitely affords. And obviously it doesn't look too "Herofactoryish", which is a new word I am now trademarking, but you probably knew that since you only used BIONICLE parts. Definitely not bad for a first try, and as always you take some amazing photographs.
