Metroid fans would like a word with you. That bag looks awfully small for Breez. Think we'll see something more in her size, then?

Much better transformational transition. Although I gotta say, I liked the shield.

Very interesting to see a more technic-based Hero MoC, especially in LDD. The individual parts are all very intricate, but overall it's not super cohesive; the system bits especially stick out a lot from what would otherwise be fairly good flow. The arms and chest are also set too far apart from one other, giving it a hunchback appearance. The designs feel like they would be better parsed out and used in other creations, rather than amalgamating into this one. The colors are great, and the individual designs are very cool, but aside from the fact that there's a Hero Core, it's not a design that screams "Hero". Keeping it simple with the blade is appreciated, though.

Gold/yellow and pink, huh? An interesting choice, to be sure. A very fun design, and definitely captures the essence of an actual Hero (XL) set, which is always good. The Hero Core Locking Clamps on the shins don't actually stick out as much as they could, which is great, though I think the butterflies are a tad bit silly =P. The wings are very nice, and again, emulating official designs. The upper chest seems a bit too similar to Furno's for my taste, but maybe there's a lot more going into the construction that I can't see. The sword is cool, but pretty generic at this point; with the new trident piece, everybody and their mother is doing some kind of riff on the blade thing. The shield is very nice though, and fits with the general motif you have going on.

Realistically the locking clamps are just for giggles. They don't really protect anything any more than the visors do, it's just part of the overall feature set. Anyhow, I'm a sucker for reverse grip blades, so you've sold me on those, though it would be interesting to see how that could come together in an actual set. Since that appears to be your goal in mind for building this, you've done a good job; the building isn't too complex (the back might be a little, but the function itself is super simple), and the color scheme is consistent with a bit of random thrown in there (they do like their arbitrary trans shoulder panels, don't they?). The bulbs overall are probably my least favorite bit, especially with a close up on the head, they look out of place.

Yeah, it's hard to tell whether or not we're supposed to think spider or octopus at this point, though I'd lean to the former. The upper half is very cool, and Brutaka's mask is a nice touch. Some cool construction bits, and the shield wings/shoulderpads are actually pretty nifty. The lower half isn't too bad, but the transition is very abrupt; might just be the colors, but it doesn't flow together as nicely as it should. The lack of straight feet also don't really give a very good impression, considering how nicely the rest of the MoC is designed, and it feels incomplete as a result.

One of the best things about LDD is that it's a lot easier to see color differentials (transparency aside) so the half-mutant look definitely comes across well here. The sword is a little uninspired, since we've seen a similar design over and over again, but the claw arm is pretty sweet looking. Color is balanced nicely, too.

When I say "planned" I mean it says in the fine print that the promotion is valid for store purchases AND S@H orders, so presumably they'll keep to that. I've never gotten one of their special gifts though (like those minifigs) so I don't really know how they include that in the ordering process.

The claw hand is very cool, and it's nice to see a riff on an older form of Nex's, rather than his current incarnation. The shoulder-mounted launchers seem a bit overkill, but they're done in a neat way. However, the Joker tie/whatever it's called is out of place overall; doesn't really seem worth it to include just one since there's no other form of asymmetry in the model.

Well, he was deliberately made a plot point in Breakout, to the point where they confusingly included his actual character model representing an ability of Voltix's. People figured he might be the big bad in 2013. For all we know, he is, either the "Unknown villain" seen at the beginning of Brain Attack (and presumably the end of Breakout) or somebody even higher up. The story has left some fairly big plot threads open, so I'm hoping that 2014 sees a lot of resolution to all of it. Actually, the accessory pack is planned on being valid for S@H orders as well, so... I'd save that five dollars for LEGO's shipping =P

It always heartens me to see cool things on LDD, given that I couldn't make something on there to save my life. It's tough to get a good female vibe from Hero Factory in general, but I don't think that's what you were going for, necessarily; the color shadings are the only thing that would make me think female hero. The triple heat-seeking missile launcher is probably my favorite part, I love the use of the Hero foot there. The overall armor works well, although the spiked kneepads are out of place in the whole design If you rotated and centered them, to cover up where the knee joint is, it might be a bit more believable. The hip-pads are also a very nice touch.
-
Maybe it's just because I watched Monster's Inc. but I love the Waternoose vibe. It's good to see people have been so creative with helmets and stuff; nice to see some masks from the good old days, and Dume's helmet works very well here. Trans-light green is an interesting choice, but it doesn't clash as much as it could have, so props for that. That said, if he was a doctor before, was he still a Hero? I don't think we've see any Hero doctors yet =P

Very cool. The back armor especially adds to the look, though I imagine it would reduce poseability a bit if it were an actual model. The colors of the flames are the only thing that really stick out; I have no idea if it's possible to change that with LDD, but I think it would help the consistency if it were, say, the color of the blade.

Reminds me of something I built years ago, but that's neither here nor there. The custom brain is decidedly the main attraction here, but that's not a slight to the rest of the MoC. If there's any complaint here, it's that overall it doesn't quite have a "Hero Factory" feel it it; it's just a great MoC. It's ridiculously streamlined, which works for the raptor appearance, and the red and white are well balanced as accents. A bit more cladding could have helped make it appear more like a Hero Factory creature, but that's just my take on things. Overall, a truly excellent MoC.
-
It's definitely pretty cluttered, but the edit has done a good job of cutting down on the color scheme, which was the most distracting. Use the claw as a base; the cladding makes it much more efficient overall. The BIONICLE pieces have a lot of sticking out bits, and the Malum claws are a prime example of this. Raanu's helmet works for what you're doing, but the Piraka feet as shins don't mesh.
-
Roderick Sharpe? Obviously the pun's there, but when isn't it?
-
The Sanok seems a bit out of place, but I love the infected look. Sometimes the colors appear to be getting a bit cluttered, but the design certainly makes up for it. The overall structure looks nice and sound (I'm assuming the foot isn't too unstable) and the brain perched on the shoulder is amazing.
-
Interesting weapon design, but the bottom heavy nature of the MoC doesn't work too well overall. Bulky legs are fine, but it needs to be in proportion; right now, it sticks out a fair bit. The colors are pretty neat, though; trans blue and lime works out pretty well. Very nice to see Bulk's new helmet in green; nicely consistent with the cool backstory.

Contest ends on July 18, right? You could just get it in under the radar if you wait. Edit: Natch, the 9th. That's silly.

Official LEGOshop calendar confirms the promotion with the black brain, which will apparently be numbered 40084. Definitely looking forward to that.
-
Yeah, that's probably what I was thinking. I kinda wish those had made it in; the crocodile design on them was pretty legit, if nicely overspecialized.
-
And for some reason I thought that one was orange. I should really be paying more attention to that. Cool, either way. I'll definitely have to pick up Cragger.
-
You know, for some reason. I thought Chi Worriz's blades would be inverted in color. Kind of sad that the cool fang blade doesn't come in trans red.

Hero Factory Month - Index and Discussion
Dorek replied to Brickthing's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Man, and on the month all of my LEGO sets are in storage for a house move. What a bummer! That said, I'm really excited for this month overall. I see you guys using some HS01 images and such, so if there's anything else you need from us, just let me know! I already included a little shoutout of this on our news. At the very least, I can definitely do some action figure forum participation (which is kind of my bread and butter anyway =P), and those contest entries will be fun to see. Great theme, guys. -
Whoop whoop! shoutout!
