  1. That's fantastic! does that convert to 22.5m tall in minifig scale?
  2. Not just you specifically, but why does it have to be so black and white? The lady who designed the set is on record that she did so at least partially to improve the visibility of STEM fields to girls as a viable option. Just because that is a target market, that doesn't mean that TLG, a business before all else, should only sell the set to girls, or that boys can't play with it. As for how Lego scalpers get so many sets? I don't know or care to speculate much on the matter. I wouldn't want to help anyone get in the habit of doing it. I'm sure that at least some are Lego store employees or associates of the same, or people who use software tricks to circumvent the online store's software imposed limits.
  3. Even though I know it's the typical pattern for a bunch of late backers to show up, I'm still surprised to see how fast it has been climbing the past couple days... 79.3K GBP? Just wow. Still curious what color the initial run will be.
  4. I'm sorry, but are you completely unaware that there are individuals who purchase large quantities of sets with expected high demand but relatively low production quantities through deceptive means for the sole purpose of profiting off those who weren't online at midnight of the release date and perhaps not immediately aware of the set's existence, despite being the intended target audience? Research Institute is targeted at young females to help improve the visibility of STEM fields as viable employment tracks for females. Moms and dads should be buying it for their daughters, not cretins who raid a local Lego store at 10 AM on release day for as many sets as they can get away solely for hoarding until the resale value on eBay gets high enough to assuage their greed.
  5. I see some conflicting info on the 'official' size of one, but for an AT-AT to carry 40 Troopers, plus a crew of three in the cockpit, plus multiple speederbikes, would it be possible to actually fit all that into a 'true' minifig scale AT-AT MOC?
  6. But PAB also beats BL on some items. Those yellow 5x5 'L' shaped technic frames you need 16 of for 10179? Two bucks each on Bricklink, and one dollar each on PAB. You have to comparison shop the two, because both can have great deals the other doesn't.
  7. Nope. I'm the odd duck who doesn't care about Boba Fett or Slave I or even the Millenium Falcon. TIE Bomber is my favorite craft, thank you very much. I come in here to see what cool new rumors or speculation has been added, and am usually disappointed to find nothing but people asking about Slave I or Millenium Falcon UCS updates.
  8. Sorry, I'd rather pay the $100+ for the Red V X-Wing than pay a similar amount for a less accurate one, just because it's old. ...and I'm 42, so I'm no kid.
  9. Almost 76K with 53 hours to go. I wonder what color the initial run of SBricks will be? Clear like the prototypes or one of the more standard colors like LBG?
  10. Looks like a nice cheap wave for OT fans... Good, 'cuz this year's Summer wave was brutally expensive.
  11. I see two copies of the same picture... Appears that it might be landing gear?
  12. The sarcasm is strong with this one.
  13. Hyperbole much? While it would suck for collectors if TLG discontinued the Modular line, it would be far from corporate suicide. As the sets with typically the best PPP ratio every year, yet not a huge number of sales compared to some other lines, there is at least some chance that modulars aren't all that profitable.
  14. Yeah, I figure this thread will be on page 3 by the time we get any news or rumors.
  15. Huh? Which is Low Energy? both Smart and Smart Ready say low energy, and together this list is pretty long.
  16. You just need a bear walking by.
  17. Darth Jackson, It's a bit tight, but two of these do fit into the 75054 walker without even having to fold them. Thanks for sharing, it's a great little build.
  18. 70.5K with 4 days to go? Too bad none of the mainstream media outlets have picked up on it... Has anyone at least gotten it on Reddit?
  19. Very interesting. For introductory settings, I can see this being very helpful, and I do love how many sensors are contained in the relatively small form factor, but... While small compared to how much space all those equivalent Mindstorms sensors would be, I have a hard time picturing ways to incorporate multiple Edison units into a single model. Even then, getting them coordinated would be another challenge altogether.
  20. You must be talking about the old Sandcrawler, because the new one is far from suck.
  21. I can't read a word of it, but that may be the most incredible Lego set review I have ever seen! And that build looks WAY more interesting than I expected.

  23. Lego shipping rarely makes sense to me. I get the giveaway polybags showing up in an envelope by itself vis FedEx all the time, while the rest of the order shows up a week or two later. Happened with another order again today. I got the mini-mini today, some PF stuff is coming in a separate box, while the Exo-suit only shipped today and 4 M-motors are still backordered.
  24. For a while, the largest Serious Play set (like $600 or $800) had what appeared to be about 10 LBG boat rigging pieces right on top of the pile. If you were able to resell those for the typical rate of @ $100 each, the set would pay for itself in just the one part. The new pictures of that set no longer have the rigging pieces in them.
  25. If the LEGO company made products unrelated to the modular building system, I might be less inclined to refer to Lego bricks as Legos. With the current product line, everything LEGO makes is related to Lego bricks, so calling those bricks Legos isn't a big deal for me. Someone correcting my usage would be pedantic and annoying because if you aren't a LEGO company employee, you have no vested interest in protecting TLG trademarks.
