Jedi Scout Fighter, mostly to have an Ithorian for the Cantina and the RA-7 to put in the Sandcrawler. Still confused why the astromech doesn't have a model designation.

What made you get out of your LEGO dark age?
rollermonkey replied to BearHeart's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Architecture line. Bought the Space Needle when I moved to the Seattle area, and realized that most of the rest at the time were places I'd been and quickly bought the whole line. -
I needed a couple 2L liftarms in black, and there are three in 42026, so I picked it up rather than pay too much and wait too long for BL or BNP. Call me shocked, but what a fantastic little build! 12 panels make for a very smooth little car, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I was sliding it around on the carpet like a speedboat before I put on the wheels. I kind of don't want to take it a part now to get the liftarms... And I kind of want to get the rest of the $20 sets now, too, just to see how cool they are.

I wasn't precisely keeping track, but not more than 3 or 4. The 3L axle and 3L pins were off by roughly the same amount... I wonder if maybe Jurgen included the extras from the set inventory, whereas I was building from the model, disassembled immediately before reassembly? The bushings, axles and pins are super common. Those 2L liftarms, on the other hand, not so much.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

It's the same with R2 and 3PO... R2 is in seemingly half of all released sets, and 3PO is in... Sandcrawler and Ewok Village. -
Lego 10224 Town Hall - New Build & Review
rollermonkey replied to VintageLegoEra's topic in LEGO Town
Glad to see Town Hall getting some love. I never understand how some people don't like it. -
I was using the .PNG image, not Rebrickable.... That one may be fine.

No, not as I recall. I think the gear on step 4 is on a different axle... I was looking at the instructions on screen when I typed that, but it wouldn't be the only part that pops in and out between steps... There are also inventory discrepancies... I have to go to TLS today and get one of the pullback cars because 42009 has zero thick black 2L liftarms, just the 10 of the version with axle / pin combination, and the two needed aren't on the extra parts list. (Fortunately there's a $20 set right now with three, most of the current sets with them right now are much bigger) The other discrepancies were shortages of yellow 0.5L bushings, LBG 3L axles and blue 3L pins, but I had enough of those laying around. At least those 2L liftarms go in the boom, don't interfere with completing the MOC and can be added later. The only other issue I had was needing to swap wires to different IR receivers... The steering wheel was moving the outriggers. Maybe that was my screwup, but I thought I was paying close attention to those. All in all, it really helps illustrate how much effort TLG puts into the models. Huge props to Jurgen and Blakbird and whoever else made this a reality.

The more people make steerable Tumblers, the more obvious it is that TLG got lazy. IMO -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
rollermonkey replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Except that doesn't fit right... There's no sidewalk, and on a 32x32 baseplate, you'd get almost nothing for facade, then big blank walls on the sides. Sure, you night be able to make the back more interesting, but as the back, it would typically be out of sight. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
rollermonkey replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Frankly, I don't understand all the begging for inverted corners. Not you specifically, but it gets brought up over and over. The building type is pretty uncommon outside of Europe not including dead ends or alleys. The idea just screams closed, tight and narrow to me, and LEGO is pretty typically open and inviting. I just can't see it ever happening from an official set, mostly because as you mention, by itself, it would be mostly blank walls and therefore unappealing as a standalone set. -
Not necessarily. Star Wars actually had a set show up on the shelf at stores with zero rumors or leaks... And you know those guys are always frantic for clues and whatnot.

Hey, Jurgen, I'm building your Ultimate 42009 now, and although I'm about to start the boom, I have a suggestion based on a problem I had while assembling the vehicle body: On page 63, step 2, a black connector is added ()and I didn't notice that it isn't flush against the adjacent 9L liftarm which caused me to place the black gear () on the same axle out of position on page 67, step 12... The result was that the steering motor also drove the outrigger lift, something I didn't discover until testing the motors all the way on page 119, step 60! If it isn't too difficult, maybe you could add a callout on page 63 emphasizing that particular spacing requirement. It only took me about an hour or so to troubleshoot, disassemble and rebuild it, but I'm sure it's a headache nobody else would want to deal with. That gearbox being built at the time is kind of wobbly while building it since so many axles aren't fixed into position right away, I'm sure that's how I missed it.

When I saw the first picture of the partially opened door I had to scroll back to see if there was even a hint of a door that I missed... Very nice! -

I'm curious how they'll do the curved point of Flatiron, it will likely set the scale for the whole building if they use a 1x1 or 2x2 round brick there. -

4 boilers? Hah! That's awesome! I can't get over how many part you must have on hand to be able to do these...

That's the problem with the Special forums... We get MOCs of Friends style cars and the like in there all the time... It's a hodge-podge by design, and that means that stuff gets thrown in there at random, which is tough for fans of the dedicated lines like Architecture that get lost in all the jumble.
