    Convertible VII

Very nice mod, I actually changed the back of the car in a very similar way with those 1x4 slope pieces, It is a universally appealing mod, I guess
  2. That's a very nice model, being able to control the rotor makes it even better, gears are awesome I also love the fact that there's still that blue seat from both original vehicles, makes it look even more like an official C-model
  3. Wow, it looks really great with the new wheels. Thanks for sharing the pictures, 'Jim', much appreciated! These are infinitely better than screenshots or webcam pictures
  4. I wanted to keep at least one of the buckets in the MOC, and for some reason a spoiler was the first thing that occurred to me
  5. It occurred to me that using this part instead of a spare bush would be even better: To tell the truth, I've never spent so much time modifying a MOC, but I really enjoy it!
  6. I did come up with something more elegant, but had to use both of the spare bushes - a standard gray one and a yellow half-bush. It looks like this (terrible photo incoming): It is probably not clear at all, so here's a screenshot of the steering mechanism: Now you can guess what the fault was
  7. I'll upload mine tomorrow as well, maybe I'll come up with something more elegant by then. Anyway, thanks to all of you guys and 'Jim' personally. I didn't expect to get so much feedback and nice comments, this really inspires me to maybe focus a bit more on Technic
  8. Yeah, now i am sure I know the flaw I've just fixed it, it's not too pretty, but it works the way it was supposed to
  9. I think I know both the flaw and the feature as I actually have it built I used a screenshot not to scare people away with terrible image quality
  10. Wow, thanks a lot, I would be really humbled, 'Jim'!
  11. Hi, it's actually my first post in this forum as I mostly build digitally in LDD and unfortunately Technic and LDD don't go to well together. However, I've recently come across an announcement about a competition held at Rebrickable. Each contestant should build his own alternative model of one of five sets. Incidentally I happened to own one - a 42004 Mini Backhoe. So I got right to building, and even though my first attempt was a failure, the second one turned out pretty well. I am sorry about using LDD screenshots, I don't have a camera, but what I do have is an .lxf of my MOC Comments are welcome)
  12. A quick follow-up - a yellow roadster. No renders for this one - it's too similar to spend a whole day rendering Building it would be tricky (ring piece in trans-red - wuuuut?), but just in case here's the .lxf EDIT: I ended up rendering it, but I had already changed its color to azure by that time, so now it has a little Friends vibe to it:
  13. My thoughts exactly, that set also has two trucks and a service station, but having a three truck set would still be really great
  14. And once again all props go to LEGO designers
  15. So for some reason I have been building sports car after sports car lately, and while most of them ended up looking rather bad, some turned out pretty well like this one. Of course the front would look suspiciously familiar to some of you, but you have to admit that it is a really good way to build a sporty front. The rear end is inspired by McLaren MP4-12C, but is quite a bit blockier Comments are welcome and feel free to download the .lxf As the topic is now quite large and I might add a few more cars to it, I decided to add an index of the cars:
  16. Thanks a lot for kind comments, I am myself pretty happy with how smooth some of the curves turned out. And I am even more happy that I finally figured out rendering
  17. I'm back with another MOC, but it's quite different from most of the previous ones. The main difference is that I finally figured out how to render my LDD MOCs in POV-Ray, so now it's a render rather than a screenshot. When it comes to the build itself it also stands out. Being 8 studs wide, this car has very peculiar proportions as It's two times wider but still lower than most of City cars I usually build. Other than that it's quite standard, there were quite a few similar official sets like Speed Racer ones. And once again the MOC started as just a test of one of my ideas. I decided to use the snowboard as a front splitter, which turned out pretty well. So here's the render of the result: Of course, the snowboard doesn't exist in black. However, looking at the prototypes - real race cars like NASCAR ones, it would be quite possible to build this model IRL using an existing version of the snowboard and still be able to create a good-looking and still believable colour scheme as real race cars are often very colourful Anyway, comments are welcome, here's a link to the .lxf file if you happen to need it
  18. You're welcome and thanks for kind words
  19. I wanted the rear lights to be a little bit higher and decided to make those fins. I actually like the rear lights on that police cruiser and I even used similar lights on a couple of my own cars, but I still think they would be just a bit too low
