Thanks, 'Pizzareno'! I think, that if it can be built with bricks, it should be built with bricks. And as long as I don't have them myself, I should share for others to try and do it
-
They do look more proportionate, but I'll have to have them to use them
-
As promised, the renders are ready: So, it is a tow truck, it can fit two minifigs and has a fake engine under the hood. It also has openable doors (they can be replaced with larger ones, but I am quite happy with the way they are). The trickiest part was the mechanism for locking the towing frame in a certain position, but I think I managed to make it work: You can download the .lxf file here. The file contains a number of differences, mainly the winch control, and an alternative wheel setup. UPD: PDF instructions for a slightly updated version are available at my Bricksafe here.

I've just finished a new one, the renders should be ready by tomorrow. I tried to make sure all of the parts exist, and it seems like LDDManager is finally on my side
-
Missed that for some reason. Now I am really curious Here it is
-
Well, since they use a lot of 1x1 round plates with hole, I thought it could be something like this: But there's definitely something else going on, because I was unable to properly align those 1x3 tiles, while in the pictures they are aligned perfectly.
-
It seems to be, according to LDD at least.
-
Well spotted! That sure looks like a useful piece
-
'Faefrost', you might be right. I must have ignored this option because it's one of the first thing I noticed when I saw the first pictures. And then they suggested looking for secrets and clues? so I thought iw would something less obvious
-
I've tried to figure out what that is but I still have no idea. Does anyone else know?
-
Thanks for for sharing the pictures, 'ritztoys' and 'GallardoLU'! I also wonder what part is that slope right between the rear spoiler and the roof? My best guess is this.
-
I really like its classic City vibe, even some of the newer parts like that black frame fit right in. And those supports are like a cherry on top
-
I have to agree with 'Zblj', the way that spike piece is built into the ship is seamless. A really good MOC, 'rancorbait'!

So I decided to try and build something with the bricks that I have. I finally figured out how to create custom brick palettes in LDD and created one containing all of the City sets that I own (which is 3 ). After a few hours of lacking every piece I needed I ended up building this. I am not very happy with the result, but considering the brick variety at my disposal (never mind the ridiculous combination of Police and Hospital stickers) and, more importantly, that it is actually brick-built, it is pretty good. The pictures are not, though. My camera is so bad that renders look more realistic than actual pictures

As I have decided to keep all of my City 4x4 MOCs in one topic I added an index with links to all of the relevant MOCs I've built so far. Hopefully it will be of some use to someone
-
Thanks everyone! Here it is
-
That is a very easy fix, and in the file there's a wide variety of wheel setups, from standard City wheels to larger Technic ones - I was experimenting with the clearance myself
-
Since I already have a special topic for my sports car MOCs, I thought having a separate topic for 4x4 MOCs as well would be nice. So without further ado, I present to you the first entry - a pickup truck. You can get the .lxf here (it has a different color scheme in the file). i. dark blue/reddish brown ii. sand yellow iii. dark green iv. black 1. this one 2. Tow truck
-
Thanks, 'zblj'! The original wheels did look a bit too small, and that was the first thing I changed I kind of like the suspension though, using those rubber Technic pieces is pretty smart.

Hi everyone! It's my first post in this forum, though this build is probably one of the oldest that I have. Basically, it is a rather heavily modified 4x4 from the 2008 Gold Hunt set. I went for larger wheels and added a few bricks at the back as well as a machine gun. I also tried to make the color scheme a bit more serious, which means that I probably used a couple of pieces that don't exist in those colors. Anyway, I hope you like it, comments and critique are also welcome. If you wish to have an .lxf file, you can get it here.

Yep, that's something you should look out for when it comes to these MOCs - unfortunately, I use nonexistent parts way too often That's why it's great that you still manage to build them - it's much more harder than designing them digitally. However, I've been trying to use mostly existent parts lately and even downloaded LDDManager. Hopefully, it will show
-
You are spot on, 'CityBuilder'! It is not that obvious from these angles, the side view is much more easily recognizable
-
I've uploaded all of these cars to a folder at Brickshelf, and there are also a few other MOCs (a few 4-wide cars, a few 8-wide trucks, even a building), feel free to build anything you like UPD: I've since moved the files to Bricksafe, they can be found here.

Thanks, 'nivam'!

I ended up rendering "Field Wanderer", so here are the resulting renders. A link to the .lxf file is in the previous post.
