Garage door in LDD ?
imvanya replied to sn1975's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Nope, not really. Apart from opening doors and rotating axles, LDD isn't very good at part movement. -
After a kind of a break I have built yet another sports car. Here is a link to the .lxf file I am actually not entirely happy with the roof and I even imagined the rear windscreen piece to have a print or stickers, so I will be happy to hear what you think
-
Well, there was a similar competition a while back and many of the entries were actually posted here, mine as well., so...
-
I don't see anything in the rules that could stop you
-
It looks great. Is it gonna be an entry for the Rebrickable MOC competition? If it isn't, I think it should be

As my last MOC (one-and-a-half MOCs, to be precise) was a SUV and not a sport car, and neither is this one, it's safe to say I'm taking a break at building sport cars However, as with some of those cars, this MOC is basically a shell for an idea I had - a minifig-scale car with windscreen wipers. The wipers I came up with turned out rather bulky, so the car had to be rather big as well, hence the van. Obviously, building in LDD sets certain limitations, so I'm actually quite curious whether any of you built or seen minifig-scale cars with wipers. Anyway, here's a link to the .lxf. Once again no renders - the model is rather straightforward and definitely visually unimpressive Comments are most welcome

Well done, 'droomangroup'! It's instantly recognizable and packed with detail, a great MOC. As for the off-road tires for these wheels - there aren't any. As I understand, they are so sporty exactly because the classic wheels are quite "off-roady" and look rather silly on regular cars

Here's a quick and rather predictable update - I built a "Field Wander" and you can probably guess what that is It is too similar to the original model to spend two whole days rendering images so instead here is a link to the .lxf UPD: PDF building instructions are available on my Bricksafe here.

Thanks, everyone! When I thought of using 1x2 slopes and a sunroof, I couldn't help building the whole thing Feel free to use the design, I would be happy to see it brick built

It's been a while and I'm back with another city vehicle. It is obviously inspired by a certain real-life car, the topic name should give you a clue I built a week or so ago, but only got to rendering the images this weekend. It is probably the windows and tail lights that made the rendering process so long, more than a day per image. Anyway, you can download the .lxf here

Thanks, 'redtrooper27'! That's exactly what I was going for, something like an Aston Martin or a front-engine Ferrari, a classic Grand tourer
-
Thanks, 'scorpax'!

I've come up with yet another design. The .lxf file can be found here UPD: PDF instrcustions are now available at my Bricksafe here.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant, but better said

I've noticed the same things in a number of sets. I personally see it like this. If a set is designed in such a way that it uses a certain piece only one or two times and this piece can be replaced with another piece already used in the same set 5 times (in your case, 2 1x3 instead of 1 2x3), it will be replaced. In my opinion the main reason for this is to avoid producing relatively rare pieces. As I understand it, at the factory every piece is produced in its own line, and having a line that would potentially produce a piece only used twice in only one set is rather expensive

You're too kind, 'LEGO Train 12 Volts', thanks! It's great that someone apart from me likes these as well, 'charly1221'
-
Thanks, 'jamesn'! I wanted to mix design features from different vans, so the front is inspired by older Ford vans while the back copies modern Chevy vans
-
You can download the .lxf here
-
Thanks, 'vean'! This year's Race car set was quite an inspiration and I guess you can probably agree with me on that
-
So here's the new car. It's quite different, as this is a beefy American muscle car, the look of which is obviously based on one very popular modern muscle car The .lxf can be downloaded here UPD: A slightly updated version is also available on Mecabricks here, instructions are available on Bricksafe here.

Thanks everyone, it's great that you like them There's actually another one coming very soon, all I need is to get the images rendered
-
Great job with the rear window and exhausts, they look really cool

Two LDD rookie problems - help please !?

As fara as I know, no, you can't really mirror anything, only copy it. -

Or you can put a BRICK 1X2 WITHOUT PIN near your model and use Part selection tool, it looks like an arrow with a brick. That would select all of these bricks which you can remove right away. However, it will be quite difficult to see where exactly they were to replace them. They might be hidden inside a wall or something like that, and in that case you should use the Invert selection button that is right next to selection tools bar and looks like an arrow with two bricks - a grey and an azure one. It would select all the other bricks which you can then hide to see where exactly in your model those pinless bricks are -
Just a little update: I added rendered images
