  1. Welcome to the Wizard World 2025 discussion thread! This thread is dedicated to all Lego related Harry Potter and general Wizarding World discussion throughout 2025 -- sets, rumors, thoughts, and general LEGO Harry Potter and Wizarding World discussion. Enjoy!
  2. The somewhat inflammatory title isn't befitting what has become a productive discussion. I have changed it, but feel free to suggest something else if you'd prefer.
  3. Oh. No hard rule but I think at least 50% of the parts, if not more like 75%.
  4. What do you mean by bottom limit?
  5. Awesome! Very whimsical and magical build, like something out of a children's story. Super creative too.
  6. No. That's a multipack of individual sets. LEGO has done many thousands of sets. I know everyone is limited by what they have (not suggesting anyone should buy anything for the contest), but there's really plenty of choice out there!
  7. I know we're out of the habit of sharing pics of our orders these days, but here are some of my latest. Poor croc's tail was Standard so still waiting in Europe... https://www.instagram.com/p/DDuMUhbz8vX/?igsh=eHpnb3Bua3pneTRi
  8. Personally I think that's some very generous mental gymnastics to justify a price that strikes me as at least $5 USD too high. It just doesn't pass the eyeball test. The build is a $15 set build. It's just a box and a dinky fireplace. The amount of figures and the printed pieces could push it up to $20, but they've added another $5 on top. Battle pack pricing is skeevy anyway and they know it. Those sets crept up in price over the years, but LEGO paused them and then reintroduced them with a significant price jump. Anyway, just my take.
  9. To be honest all I really want from that set are Lockhart and the newest Snape who I haven't gotten yet. It's just that with a set this size the brain convinces itself that it's more cost effective, though not actually cheaper, to buy the whole set on sale than to BL just the desirable figures.
  10. And that's how they con us into paying too high a price for that set. As it should be though for playability. Good on them.
  11. Fantastic podracers! The expanded parts palette of a larger set, and Creator to boot, really gives you a lot to work with to make very clean builds. The side builds look very well-resolved too and not an afterthought.
  12. Now that's definitely something I'd expect to see on the back of an old LEGO box! That set would've been a challenge to work with for sure, but just goes to show... anything can be a mech!
  13. #1 Stickers placed as intended would probably be more in the spirit of a traditional alt-build, but that's fine to apply them differently as long as they aren't modified (i.e. cut up). #2 Yep Speed Champions goes in Town #3 The contest isn't judged on photography, but your model is judged on aesthetics so make sure your photos are as clean and clear as possible so the judges will be able to see your work properly.
  14. Wow! Doing a transforming model as an alt-build from one set is super impressive! Looks really cool.
  15. The bird is very fun and funky! I like how you've used the red axle for the eyes - that works really well. It's giving me vibes of the Chima Raven tribe. (Also fixed the title for you )
  16. Yep you're free to post it wherever as long as it's new for this contest.
  17. Ah, just like the old days. I missed that, thanks. I'm still waiting for them to add the printed parts from August before I do another order anyway. Odd that they added the non printed new parts, but not the printed ones.
  18. Looks like they're doing something, since they've made every non-Bestseller part in the US out of stock. There goes my running cart...
  19. Yes they're allowed. I'd say small category for that one.
  20. Yeah frustratingly Series 25 only had the unscannable codes in Australia. I took a scale to the store.... But you should really give it a go now. The apps are great and easy. omgbricks has been my go to.
  21. Yes Marvel S2 was completely blind and the first unlicensed series in boxes was a mix (or blind depending on region), but since the latest two series (Space and DoD) have you actually had any problem with the apps? It's quicker and easier than feeling the packets ever was, and I was quite good at feeling the packets...
  22. That's fair and I hear your frustration. That said, taking a step back, it's potentially more an indictment on earlier waves than it is on the last one and continuance of the theme. In 2024-2025 alone, on the Hogwarts side of things, we've gotten all of the major professors/adults (Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, Flitwick, Hagrid, Hooch, Filch, Quirrel, Lockhart), and lots of students. We've gotten other important creatures like the troll, Fang and Norbert. We should have the Dursleys again next year too. The main thing they seem to not be doing so far is the final tasks at the end of Year 1. I hear your point that no section of the castle feels "complete", and if I was just getting into HP LEGO now, I don't think I'd be able to afford it since this newest system is just too expensive for me. However, taking the Hagrid's Hut sets as an example, it's more the fault of the old one for not including Fang (who is in PoA) than the new one which includes everything for the scene it's based on in PS. So really, as a Harry Potter LEGO purchaser since the very beginning, yeah it's frustrating that the awesome troll is in a $200 set that I don't want generally, or Fang is in a new Hagrid's Hut if you already have/like the old one, but in most cases that's not really the fault of the new sets. Besides the weird exclusion of the shrunken head, they are doing a good job of covering quite a breadth of stuff in this newest iteration, in my opinion.
  23. Thanks! I'm not much of a builder but I was pleased with how the front came out, though the rest looks a bit blocky and mismatched.
  24. I think 40712 scrapes in at the top end of the small category, yeah.
  25. Hadn't thought about GWPs. While they're live they often have an RRP ascribed on LEGO.com, but I don't know if anyone records that information since they're never actually sold. Which GWP were you thinking?
