  1. I think of what we've seen, some are excellent, some are fine and a couple aren't great - like most series! I am curious what exactly people don't like for those saying generally that they're horrible. Executioner and Merlin look super. Farquad, Gingy, Puss, Shrek and Fiona all look decent, though the ogre head moulds are a little off or strange I guess. Dragon is the one to me where I go "what were they thinking?" and does look more like something a bootleg company would do. Donkey doesn't look perfect either but it does appear that his head and body are separate at least? And they'll be a standing body version in the set?
  2. Personally, all of the old versions of the Pineapple house were ok but pretty weak. I have the last one - 3818 - which is a fun set and all, but really it's quite basic. The good thing is that that set exists and can still be bought used on BL at around $120 USD (plus shipping) if that's your cup of tea. While I'm usually in the camp of not liking how they do things at such expensive price points, I see it differently here since they've done this theme before, so those old sets exist and aren't super in demand (for now) on the secondary market. For the new one, they're taking it to another level of design and detail. It annoys me more when they do a brand new license, but it's all locked into very pricey sets.
  3. I'm a pretty big complainer but that looks excellent. The builds look excellent and I'm curious to see the new SpongeBob upper half piece in more detail. Still not sold on the new Patrick piece, but overall, well done.
  4. I'm well aware of all the good stuff they continue to do for HP, but a cut corner is still a cut corner and it's made worse when a. the correct parts already exist (no R&D necessary) and b. it's a massive over-priced adult/collector-oriented set. Letting them off the hook because it's been a while since they used the mould is just apologetics. They brought back Bullseye for the 2026 Toy Story 5 set, last seen in 2010. Simpsons moulds had a gap from 2015 to 2025. Fleur's hat had a gap from 2019 to 2024. Magneto's helmet had a gap from 2017 to 2024. Just a few examples off the top of my head. For Dumbledore they felt like they could get away with it, but it's still fully inaccurate to the costume and scene.
  5. That Gambledore is truly a shame and goes to show no corner is safe from being cut. The rest are... fine Voldy looks a little goofy.
  6. I don't think being Batman-focused for some of the good years makes it bad revival. It was a revival of a full Batman theme after all, and it was better for longer than the original theme existed! I've also had a look through BL to refresh myself. Personally, 2019 was still fine - the sets revolved around Bats but still included other characters and constituted a decent wave of remakes moving back to regular style after the LEGO Batman Movie stuff. 2020 had the awesome (poorly selling) figure series and a few ok playsets, 2021 had the movie ties ins, which were fine. I'd say honestly you could count a second revival as 2023- onwards. 2022 was essentially dead, and since 2023 the theme has been just some media-tie in Batman vehicles each year, some ok in their own rights, but poor as a theme.
  7. Fun topic! You forgot Mickey Mouse and friends which was originally that Fabuland-style theme and more recently came back as 4+. Not sure which is better though... Best, definitely both iterations of HP revival for me. The 2010-11 stuff was awesome at the time and as someone who had been getting the sets since '01, it was fantastic to see it brought back after it trailed off with just the one castle set for OOtP. Obviously the newer revival is much better though and really sets the gold standard for how a Licensed property can be covered. In just a few short years LEGO had given us pretty much everything, and has just been filling small gaps or iterating ever since. Amazing. I dream of if LEGO covered Star Wars (especially the prequels) the way they have with HP. There are still important characters missing from Phantom Menace after 27 years! But I digress. I hear both sides of the IJ debate. The new sets were fantastic, but as an overall revival it was so limited in scope that it felt like having a door slammed in your face right after it was opened. On the flipside, while out of my price range the LotR revival shows an interesting way of doing things that I can't fault. Big sets released with a consistent schedule and given some love - an ok pattern for an adult-skewing theme. Personally I don't think it's fair to put DC in worst unless you identify a more recent point where they cut over to just Batmobiles. It was a good revival in 2012 and has lasted ever since, but has more recently gone way downhill.
  8. RH_Temporary is an interesting choice of name, and yes we restrict newbies from posting in Buy Sell to try and not have people join just to sell or unknowns potentially scam people. However, this auction looks legit and you're not selling the stuff directly, so there isn't much risk as I see it. I will move it to Buy Sell. Best of luck!
  9. Not exactly the same, but whole waves of sets have been cancelled with new pieces pretty far in production. Take Vidiyo for example. Just because something is unusual or unexpected doesn't mean it can't happen. We're working with a pretty small set of data. There's no way to know for sure that they didn't ultimately decide to pivot to a Minifigure version for the final set until we see the final set. It's also unusual to have two different representations of the same character releasing at the same time, though perhaps that has happened too.
  10. There's still a slight chance that series Shrek will be a minifig but set Shrek will be a Hagrid-like bigfig. I'm a bit torn. Shrek's head just doesn't look quite right. Farquad is fun though.
  11. Not going to lie, I bought her just for the clownfish. The figure doesn't interest me in the slightest, even the new hairpiece, and she could easily come in a city set. The actual chocolatier figure was agonisingly boring to me (though if the dragon had had printed eyes to be both a chocolate and a real dragon, I would've bought it). Similarly the footballer. I honestly can't see gameshow host with check, flower shop lady or lady with corgi will actually be good figures themselves, but I'd also be happy to be pleasantly surprised. I'll buy the corgi one for the dog regardless, and the shower lady for the towel headgear, but these choices still don't excite me. There have been some series without as many ultra generic (even if well detailed) contemporary figures.
  12. Some of the City figures sound very "Series 4" level. Back in the low numbers, it was awesome to get more specific and detailed City figures with cool new animal moulds, because the actual City line didn't provide that stuff. These days City is chock full of detailed civilian figs and animals, so it's annoying when those take up CMF slots. At least there a few historical / fantasy things here, but definitely too many costumes and too many modern day people.
  13. very good. Yeah the builds should be the stars, but some nice minifig treats never hurt. The ornithopter itself was also the star, and the generous fig lineup made it better.
  14. I've got several - do you want reddish brown, light bluish grey or red? That older Ezra head for Stilgar is a good shout.
  15. Whoops, sounds like we riot.
  16. The treasure creatures have never been on PaB. The arctic foxes were, but perhaps have been removed.
  17. Well Warner Bros won't even exist by 2027, so we'll see what happens. This one can count as a Supergirl tie in anyway. Because F us that's why. And because the team is busy making 4+ Spidey dinosaurs and pirates.
  18. I was wracking my brain as to how LEGO could end up claiming they'd made something Superman related so WB could include LEGO as a list of merchandising partners for Supes again. There it is. Brickheadz.
  19. Agreed! It's striking to go so high contrast with the colour scheme but you've balanced it well and it looks like it's got some great possibility too.
  20. A surprising set to exist IMO, and an even more surprising rumoured price for the piece count (though I can't imagine how many will be those little horns for teeth). I only recently got the Ornithopter and I hope this has a good figure lineup to complement it, though I'll set my expectations low.
  21. Jokes on us: all other figures will now have unprinted torsos and the Kaz/Bruce Wayne/Draco Malfoy head to compensate.
  22. I'm dying every time I check this thread. It's too good.
  23. Not that I recall. Only the Nazgul torsos.
  24. Yeah it's funky. I'm just pleased to get another non-grey or white beard. We need more light and dark brown options though tbh.
  25. You are a master of alt builds and this is no exception! It's subtle, but awesome. Love it!
