  1. Enjoys drinking sake and eating babies. No real backstory behind this guy either, I just made that head and then realized it bears a resemblance to the Oni from Japanese folklore so I just went with it. Later I noticed I had already built a red demon in golden armor before, as seen on the first of the alt shots so maybe they could be connected, part of the same hierarchy or something. As for the build itself it was really kind of spontaneous. After seeing a similar mouth design used on a MOC late last year I've been thinking of using it and yesterday I decided to give it a go. The jumper pod as a tongue idea is another thing I wanted to utilize but I didn't wanna use up my red petals because I want to try something else with them. Instead I went with the single green one I got from a Tunneler beast set and that's what made me decide to make the skin color red, for contrast. After the head was built the rest went together really quickly. His body is actually pretty hollow, being made mostly of CCBS bones including two of the large torso parts with large panels kinda floating around the construction. The feet were originally a more complex design with toes but they were not up to the task of supporting the weight of the figure. That's why I went with the prefab parts, covering them a bit with the new pistony addons to emulate a sandaled look. Anyway, I always go on a huge rant hen I post MOCs on forums like this, thanks for bearing with me :v Your comments and criticsm are highly appreciated, thanks for taking a look!
  2. Thanks a lot everyone for the kind words! Thanks! It really means quite a lot coming from you, as I admire your work very much as well. I've been inspired by your stuff a lot too, especially the whole fusion thing. Hehe, thanks! Yeah I know what you mean, sometimes I feel like I'm overusing them myself but I just find working with them so fun, they really bring characters to life.
  3. Always hungry, always on the prowl. Haven't posted here in a while! As per usual, no real backstory to this thing. I just rewatched Pacific Rim a couple of days ago and really wanted to build something with a couple of sets of eyes. I went through a few versions of the design before I settled for the wildcat/lizard/gorilla freak, at one point it was something more resembling a giant leech with wings :v I mostly wanted to experiment with the Stronius armor parts because I had never used them before but I liked the uneven texture they have, both organic and mechanical at the same time. The eyes are what started the build, I really wanted to achieve an unusual, maybe even unsettling, look with them. I know the lack of toes on the hind feet might look off but the part sculpt already has three toes and I felt like clipping only two on didn't look that good. Still not sure if I made the right decision or not, but oh well. Anyway, that's it for my rant. Your comments and criticsm is highly appreciated. Thanks for taking a look!
  4. Hype levels are off the chart.
  5. Man, I already wasn't really into this summer wave, but that Grinder pic is just eugh
  6. I actually did one of these a few months ago, although mine had a very fiddly custom built head. If something like it were actually produced, I magine the whole head section would be replaced with a couple of newly molded parts, maybe a main head part/krana holder and then a visor that clips over it like the new masks?
  7. Hey, if it brings us stuff like tan or dark tan bones I'm all for a CCBS Jar-Jar.
  8. Dark green would work pretty well for cartoony dinosaurs, plus it hasn't been used as a primary color yet. Maybe paired with tan for the underbelly detail?
  9. More Mixels please.
  10. they literally are tracings though, there were comparison pictures.
  11. i want so many of those new shoulder parts
  12. Tahnok, easily.
  13. Eh, people keep telling me I should make the feet bigger but it was a design decision I went with on purpose, I just really enjoy the upper body to lower body contrast and I feel it wouldn't work if the feet were any bigger. At one point I was even considering not giving him feet at all, but having the legs end in points, but that required a stand and more hassle than it was worth. Don't see what's wrong with the shell positioning though, I might have omitted the new addons on the knees now that I look back at it, but don't really think there's anything wrong with the way the shells themselves are placed :T Mhm, I was actually listening to Paranoid while building this. Surprisingy not, the feet have adequate heel support and the CCBS joints are high in friction, it stands up perfectly fine in many poses. Not at all, in fact, I would absolutely love to see it! Thanks everyone for the feedback and kind words, it really means a lot! Oh and sorry for taking so long to respond, I kinda forgot I had posted this thread. Whoops :v
  14. That first pic is a 'shop of that one piece of concept art we got ages ago. The other two are official though.
  15. You have no idea how badly I wish they went with the Doo-heads idea instead of the final Bionicle designs.
  16. Pretty sure what they meant with the 160$ thing was the value of the set prizes the finalists on each site got, IE. the whole winter wave.
  17. Don't see anything wrong with another building competition, Lego is about building things after all.. This competition does seem really interesting though, especially since I already love looking for faces in things. What I'm wondering about though is the criteria by which they'll judge the entries, the video was really vague about that.
  18. I feel like the only person who really liked Bruizer, but I'm a sucker for rock golem monsters so there's some bias :v Anyway, I think my least favorite action figure set is probably Tarix. Just everything about it is terrible in some way.
  19. In the fields the bodies burning as the war machine keeps turning So, as with most of the stuff I build, there isn't really a story behind this guy, I just wanted to use up a bunch of the big silver shells I had sitting around. making the figure look like it has a furnace inside, glowing with an inner flame was also a goal, I've wanted to do something like that for ages now. It mostly pulls inspiration from Privateer Press' Warmachine boardgame and it's Warjack units. I also wanted to experiment with proportions a bit, hence the whole top-heavy look tapering to tiny feet. Not really much else to say about it, he think the figure is pretty self-explanatory. Also, I think this guy is the first creation I've actually extensively used the new 2015 parts, having finally gotten some sets a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, thanks for taking a look, your feedback would be greatly appreciated!
  20. It's an orange version of the one Turaga Nuju came with, the name escapes me right now. Thanks!
  21. Everybody loves clowns, right? So I've picked up some parts a couple of weeks ago and made the tiny orange clown, later dubbed Mr. Giggles. I've had a lot of people tell me he turned out really creepy, so I decided to make an intentionally scary looking counterpart, a sort of a Jekyll/Hyde thing. Note the size difference in the group shot. The result is what you see here. I'm not entirely satisfied with the monstrous version, mostly because I wish I had integrated more color into it, I went a bit overzealous with the black, under the influence of a recent Alien quadrilogy marathon. I also think the first one is still more scary :v Anyway, thanks for taking a look! Any comments and feedback you might have would be greatly appreciated.
  22. I know it's probably not what we're getting, but the concept of animate weapons as enemies sounds really sweet to me, dunno what the problem with "walking guns" is:v
  23. Most thigh cover parts work like this too. Also the Inika shoulders and the special armor parts from Carapar, Takadox and Kalmah. A whole lot of pieces basically :v This does look nice though!
  24. It's got to be either or In any of the colors they've been released in. I just really enjoy the looks of those particular parts and I've gotten so much use out of them so far it's ridiculous.
  25. it's not really Lego's fault he gets all the spotlight. Red just sells the best, it's a fact, of course they're gonna promote their most attractive product in the lineup.
