How/when would you want Bionicle to return?
WARHEAD replied to Logan McOwen's topic in LEGO Action Figures
If it was ever brought back I'd like to see it as a re-imagining of the original years, but with the designs closer to the original concept. Bigger masks that actually look like Tiki and motifs based on Voodoo. Also, no metallic colors, silver especially, they would be replaced by earth tones to represent crude wooden armor and equipment. The story could be simplified by keeping it vague, by not really giving any direct explanation what these strange mechanical savages are, or what exactly is the shadowy presence lurking on the island really, don't reveal any finer details about what's actually going on. That's how I'd go about it. I hope any of my rambling makes sense. TL;DR: make the sets look like a simplified version of this and keep the story as it was in 2001, but maybe even simpler I guess? -
That living shield is just <3

Agreed on all points. I've been shifting to System lately as well, for the very same reasons. I guess I don't mind Kanohi that much when used as faces for Bionicle characters since it ties into the story or whatever but after so many years of seeing the same bunch of molds being reused over and over again it gets kinda dull and uninspired, you know? Just an opinion.

Not faulting the system, I just don't like how the parts look. Is that too hard to understand? Pretty sure I talked to you about this like a few times already. Also throwing insults around is not really an argument. As for the masks thing, you apparently didn't even read my post. I said masks being used for HEADS on characters are boring. Using them as armor or whatever crap is good.

There's this thing called "having a different opinion and\or taste." Just sayin'.

Not really to be honest. The ones I use have been released in a myriad of colors already and the ones I don't are way too specialized or I just don't like their aesthetics. Also, Kanohi are extremely boring when used as heads, IMO.

I hope they don't bring old molds back in whichever form. New stuff will always be more interesting than what we've already seen. As long as it's compatible with earlier systems that is and seeing as it's Lego, it's bound to be, in one for or another.

I think this is the single best HF mini movie to date. Both the visual and sound designs were spot on.

Needs a big 'ol rifle with an oversized scope.P: I like all the fins you got going on on this.

I on the other hand hope that these are just prototypes and that the opaque ones from the German fair are the final ones because they look much better.
-
Pretty sure they're snot on the tall one eyed one, seeing as they're coming out from under the nose thing, and drool on the short quadruped one, since it looks very much like a dog.

The Tunneler and Jaw beasts are the best sets this year, IMHO. Totally will be getting multiples of them.

Jaw Beast and Stormer's Crowd Control Machine

Thanks Levi, means a lot coming from somebody so enthusiastic about the line, hehe. Blocky wasn't really what I was going for but oh well. Sure! Hope that gives you an idea how the design works. -

BRAWN BEAST, MAGMA BEAST AND STEALTH BEAST (MOCs)
WARHEAD replied to Logan McOwen's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I like that you acknowledged that the designs still look more mechanical than organic in the description. The builds themselves are very cool too, they carry that set-like quality, which I'm guessing you were going for. Gotta love a Neon Genesis Evangelion reference :v- 9 replies

(Click the images for larger versions) So I got the Jaw beast set a few days ago and am enjoying it immensely. I rebuilt the beast itself to resemble the one in the comic more closely. I also built a little riot hardsuit for stormer so he'd actually stand a chance against it and because tiny robots are awesome. No battle pic because I forgot to take one, might update the thread later with one. Your comments and criticism very welcome, as always.

The whole concept of robots piloting robots is silly, don't think about it too hard :v

[MOC] titan machine (evo xl machine - jet rocka combiner)
WARHEAD replied to bacem's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Man, that torso\cockpit area is amazing, love how you used the liftarms as very solid armor and how the Jet Rocka cockpit piece works perfectly. I just wish the limbs weren't so stiff looking. -
Well yeah, obviously, but I meant differently than it's been used so far. I really wish the mold came out in a more neutral color.
-
The beast heads can totally be reused as armor (the part with the axle at least) or crab claws or something. The cockpit seat piece I'm not seeing much use for other than what it is though, don't have one yet though, so that might change when I get to fiddle with one. I really hope they keep the minifigs though.

Advance posted a fascinating behind the scenes video for the Invasion from Below mini movie. You can see detailed pics of the new sets in it too.

Might as well post some of my designs. Don't really have any closeups but you can see my most successful attempt at making an articulated hand here, here and here. Weapons and stuff can either be held in by the fingers themselves or attached securely by a stud to the inside of the palm. Hope you can make out some of the construction, I'm quite fond of the design myself.

Tastes differ. I friggin' love nearly every set from this year's lineup and feel that the whole minifig hero concept is brilliant. The next wave seems to be even better than the winter one. Mechs always interested me more than sentient machines though, so that might have something to do with it. The Chima figures on the other hand I'm pretty indifferent towards, although I'll admit, some of them come with pretty sweet recolors. (dark tan shells <3) Mixels are a whole different thing. A thing I am getting every single set of. Ever.
-
I prefer the HF figures by far over the Chima ones, but then the Chima ones trump HF in sheer amount of good new parts\recolors.

The same as the other one, only using a Nuva canister lid as the base instead of a torso piece. It's incredibly simple.
