  1. Click the image above or this link to go to a Brickshelf gallery with a bunch more angles and poses. Again, no real backstory. I just got inspired to build another cutesy fembot and wanted to use that Belvile door that's been sitting in my parts bin for a while now. As much as I rag on the prevalence of garish translucent colors in the recent sets I have to admit thtaI really like the magenta variant, shame no Bionicle sets come with it. The main inspirations were Drossel and a bunch of other characters from various things. Thanks for looking! Comments and criticism are greatly appreciated.
  2. Fight fire with fire. Built this guy as part of my ongoing experiments with the obnoxiously overused translucent colored parts and G2 Bionicle armor addons. The build started with the skull squad addon mask and mohawk and just kinda naturally continued into a burly metal man. I was originally going to make him more athletic looking and less chunky but in the end I leaned into the "walking suit of heavy armor" look completely. The name was inspired by the whole mohawk thing kinda looking like ancient Greek helmets and the whole fire theme is kinda obvious. The axe was sort of an afterthought but the texture on it matched the armor parts so it stuck. Thanks for taking a look! Your comments and criticsm are greatly appreciated.
  3. I like how he points out the beard on that moc as if it's the only Bionicle part on there :v
  4. I dunno, I actually really liked the parts they came with. Sure they might have been a bit simple and stuff but that's what appeals to me about them, just like CCBS they can be used for a variety of characters and still look good on any of them. I've made a ton of things with the parts and can only wish I had more. Sadly, because they were kinda expensive and unpopular they're pretty rare on the aftermarket...
  5. Ok, what the next person has to go off is - a brightly colored insectoid with many tiny legs and pincer claws. Good luck!
  6. Honestly if anything I just want a return to opaque parts. The translucent stuff is kinda outstaying its welcome IMO. Same with gold but to a lesser extent.
  7. Thanks a lot guys!
  8. ...Shrieking skulls will shock your soul and seal your doom tonight... So I've been playing a lot of Devil Daggers and Deadbolt lately, both amazing games that prominently feature skulls and skeletons. It got me into the mood to build a spooky scary skeleman myself and that's where this guy comes from. He's more of a demon creature adorned in bones than a skeleton really but it still counts, right? There's also a hint of Sans and Sir Daniel Fortesque with the single eye. Anyway enough of my ranting about skeletons. Thanks for taking a look! Your comments and criticism are greatly appreciated.
  9. I absolutely adore the overall shaping and proportions on this, really pleasant to look at. The torso especially is really clever. The only major gripes I have are that the feet have an awkward shape, especially when couple with the really thin ankles. That and the fact that the thigh armor plates are sorta floating above the actual leg bones. Don't get me wrong though, this is still really great!
  10. Hmm, that's a sorta tough one but I'll whip something up during the weekend, got a couple of ideas already!
  11. Oh man, that monocle chain, classy.
  12. Ooh, i'd be up for this! Sounds like a fun and interesting idea. Would there be restrictions on the partscount or part type used?
  13. Gali '15 is probably my favorite G2 set overall so far. Not really a big fan of any of the Uniters but if I had to pick I'd go with Onua I guess? He's got the most coherent design out of all of them IMO.
  14. Yeah, makes sense they'd have some buildup for the final year. The backdrops are probably the thing I enjoy the most about this new wave. Weirdly reminiscent of all the green we got in 2005 with the whole poison/mutation theme.
  15. I actually kinda like the jaw part. I was more referring to the very, very limited '16 toa torso plate, the summer wave crystal addons and to an extent even the "bone" bones from last summer.
  16. Not if they keep going in the same direction with the new mould designs they won't. Cluttered and busy, not fitting in with the parts that are already there, and in some drastic cases even very functionally limited, with only a single connection point on the part. The difference between what's happening now and the introduction of CCBS is that the later focused on innovation and freedom of design while some of the new parts actively limit it, both in the looks you're able to achieve (things are always gonna end up a greebly mess of pistons and translucent spikes) and the functionality of the parts themselves. Pretty disappointing so far IMO.
  17. More cohesive designs.
  18. Pretty much everything we know has been covered in the article you posted. Also consider that back then Lego wasn't really making stories for their IPs yet, it was all very loose back then and the actual storymaking was left to the consumer to keep with the traditional company values. Of course Bionicle changed all that like a year or two later but y'know...
  19. Thanks guys! Yeah, I do enjoy making the heads on these the most. I guess it's pretty obvious :v
  20. This magnificent bastard.
  21. Because even monsters need heroes. As usual, not much actual backstory behind this guy. I've been playing Darkest Dungeon a lot lately and under the influence of some of the character designs from the game I decided to build a mace wielding brute. The end result was more heroically proportioned than the original intent so I ran with it and incorporated some bright accents to further drive home the idea of a noble, royal warrior. I also really wanted to get some use out of the new shadow trap parts which are easily my favorite element of the '16 Bionicle lineup. Thanks for taking a look, your comments and criticism are greatly appreciated!
  22. Nah I still think they're garbage parts. They just look kinda pretty on their own. Can't say the same about the "unification piece" though. Ew,
  23. As much as I was opposed to the weirdly textured new addons, handling the gold/clear one from Terak in person I have to admit it looks super pretty. Not particularly useful, but pretty. Also Terak is just a great parts pack in general, those tans purple claws man.
  24. The news report team is probably my favorite of this last series, although the garbage men are pretty cool too. All the '16 tribes have been great really, probably my favorite year yet!
  25. I still don't really get why anyone would want to separate the torso bits after first putting them together anyway, the two segments don't really seem all that useful on their own.
