Kinda off topic, but I just wanted to say, even though I agree with you on the other points you've made I think this is where you're wrong. As a stylistic choice it can work very well, and is one of my personal favorites. Here's a handy picture to illustrate it. Just throwing that out there. On the subject of the sets themselves, I think the armor placement makes sense. It just means they had armor on their shins and shoulders and not their thighs and forearms before the flesh rotted away. Think Roman soldiers.

Thought I'd make a quick bump with another one of these. It's meant to go along with Gobbs and Kekmor, might take a group pic of them sometime, they look really good together.

In ancient caverns deep beneath Okoto an ancient and powerful force of nature slumbers, waiting for the signal to awaken and cleanse the island of all life. So yeah, I just made this really quick, inspired by the building contest they have going on on BZP and I thought I'd share it. I'm not sure if this'll be my final entry because I have a couple more ideas for that, like some 2001 rahi or something, but here it is anyway. Thanks for taking a look! And no, it can't turn into a ball :v

It's a big demon warrior in the form of an anthropomorphic goat with sharp teeth for some reason? I imagine he's either a guard of some sort, or maybe a high ranking minion of some demon warlord, Chernobog maybe? Heh. Sorry for the lack of additional pics, I kind of got into the bad habit of only taking one picture of my creations. I'll provide a back pic as soon as I have access to my Lego collection again, if anyone's interested. You're not missing out on much, it's just another gunmetal torso plate and the tail :v Anyway, thanks for taking a look!

Limiting yourself to any single given system is bad, in my opinion. It's all Lego in the end and if the shapes and colors work together go for it! I say this as someone who actually used to build solely in CCBS, back hen it came out in 2011. HF 2.0 is completely responsible for me regaining the interest into Lego. I was instantly hooked by the combination of clean aesthetics and nigh absolute versatilty. That said I later discovered techniques that link it to both System, Technic and the specialized Bionicle parts. I find that striking a balance between these yields the most interesting looking results. Also it's darn satisfying seeing everything for a cohesive whole no matter where the parts came from :v
-
Whereas the Bionicle summer lineup is pretty disappointing, all of these are absolutely amazing! The yellow tongue guys, construction crew and purple tribe especially caught my attention.
-
These are just as disappointing as the preliminary pics made them out to be, oh well. There's a couple of nice new parts I guess?

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be white. Makes perfect sense since they are skeletons after all. Although, personally I would have preferred tan to avoid the bleached look.

Pretty sure the ones that appear grey are actually white. The only grey looking ones I can see are Grinder's forearms and that's almost certainly caused by shadows.

I'm also saddened by the fact they're regressing into nonsensical greeble sticks for the weapons, again.

This looks like it was drawn by somebody who only had a brief glance at the actual figures. I mean sure I get that it's stylized, but the characters are missing most of their defining features, don't really care how everybody's a generic skinny robo-person.

Yeah, you've pretty much got it. I usually start with a face design and depending on the emotion and character it conveys I decide what kind of figure I want it to be. Sometimes I do start from a weird element, like the Piraka face, as a challenge, but usually it's just the parts that give me the shape I want, if you can understand what I mean in that garbled sentence. Thanks everyone! It means a lot to me that so many people enjoy my work. c:

Looks like we're getting Pacman. The whole tribe is probably an expansion to the Fang Gang so it's pretty fitting :v

Thanks everyone! All of these are 100% Lego! I'd say 3-4 hours each? Definitely not more than that. Sometimes it's faster than that if I'm really inspired.

Man, I love the Mixel eye parts. Some of you may remember the first batch of these I posted last summer. I've been making a lot more of these lately and I feel there's visible improvement since the last bunch. All of these went together pretty quickly, when I had a sudden spark of inspiration. Now that I've run out of the eye parts again, I feel that I should make a small compilation of the figures again, so with no further delay, in order of construction: Orchideous - A plant monster guy who was built in less than an hour, for a quick build competition. This is the only creation here that's not assembled at the moment of posting this thread. Kekmor the Invader - A probe happy alien scientist. Doesn't really include Mixel eyes, but I feel that he fits with these guys quite nicely. :v Mr. Schnoz and his car - Just a monster and his car. My first attempt at both using the minifig heads with the eye prints and, perhaps more importantly, the giant Piraka playset mask part. This one was a very fun build. Gobbs the Brutalizer - A nasty goblin warrior, probably a low level dungeon boss or something. This one was intended to look much differently than what it ended up as, but I'm still very pleased with the end result. King Fuzzwuzzle III - Self explanatory. This one I'm probably the most proud of out the whole batch. The robes out of large Technic panels were pretty tricky to pull of and the arm holding the scepter was slapped on at the last minute but it went together pretty well, in my eyes. A Froobian Cosmonaut - This one came from me wanting to use those two canopy pieces to make the helmet of the spacesuit. The biggest challenge here was making a head small enough to fit inside the space while still being able to have a goofy expression. The first time I used Krana in a MOC, they were really helpful. I'm probably going to have to get some more of those sooner or later. Corvidarr the Greedy - This one was built just last night! Very inspired by The Four Horsemen's Gothitropolis Ravensand villains from 80s cartoons. So, that would be it for a while, or until I get some more parts with eye prints anyway. Thanks for taking a look and please leave your comments and criticsm, it is greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys! The teeth are taken off straight off of one of RoaMcToa's mocs :v

Battle For The Golden Mask Competition: Discussion Thread
WARHEAD replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The peeps on BZP contacted the winners already apparently. Not to sound rude or impatient, but care to give a rough estimate on when that'll happen here? Just curious. Thanks! -
Thanks a lot everyone, it really means a lot to me to get such positive feedback! Thanks! It's kind of been my mission during the last year to show how much a moc benefits from not having a generic old kanohi face and actually shows some expression. As for winning the contest, it really would be nice, heh, but there's a loooot of other great builds and I don't really feel like I stand that much of a chance, honestly. Good luck to you too!

So I thought I'd post a thread for these. I'm a bit lazy so I'll just post them all together. Don't really have much of a backstory for any of them, except for them being evil entities. In order from left to right: Chernobog is just a stereotypical demon overlord, likes schemes and gloating in front of heroes. Koura Homonga is an undead king, commander of a skeleton army, he's very greedy and vain too. Nyrla'glob is the physical incarnation of an ancient slumbering evil from a different plane of existence. Garagorg is simply an angry, hungry, violent beast, not really guided by anything except for his appetite for flesh and destruction. Maloko is an evil cursed spirit, taking the form of a giant eye with the ability to shoot lazers and petrify foes. Voskor is a bone collector from the underworld, perhaps a deity dreamt up by the Manas. Thanks for taking a look!

Not saying you shouldn't or questioning your decision, but I'm genuinely curious why you would want to do that? I mean it only ups your chances of getting picked, having more entries and all. If you'd rather not say that's fine, sorry for shoving my nose up somebody's business. -
