  1. See? That's specific. I can work with that. Ahem...you have severe dementia. You need in–home care. See? Problem solved.
  2. If anyone wants to make comments like this, here is why it's useless to us: 1. Phone could mean this: Tell us what device you are on. What browser are you using. Is the OS up to date? Do you think we didn't check this on our devices before we performed the upgrade? We need more information to be able to help you. 2. Absolutely horrible is a better description of your attitude than it is of your experience. If you think you are entitled to have everything perfect and we are here to work for you, think again. If you think you should demand things from people who do work as customer service for you, then you are a horrible person. 3. Can't see anything properly. Is it a white screen? Is it a shop for men's motorcycle boots? Or is the table askew a little? The upgrade came with a fully responsive set of cascading style sheets so it should adapt to any screen. Maybe be helpful and take a screen cap for us. Or just pout and throw out crappy language. It's really up to you what kind of person you are. You choose your actions. 4. Can't search anything. Were you able to fill in a search field? Could you not find the search field? Did the lights go out and you dropped your rotary phone? 5. Nothing opens on the menu tab. So, just to clarify, you have opened the menu tab and then none of the links work? This would be where knowing if you have an outdated device, OS or browser would be pertinent information. I say this a lot in the Rude Moderators thread, we are a volunteer staff and we dedicate our free time to this site and the Administrators have just dedicated weeks to this software upgrade. Why did we do this? Because a lot of people had complaints about their experiences that we couldn't do anything about since we were running on unsupported software. So we are giving our free time to improve our community and your experience and it only takes a couple seconds for you to poop on it. So, if you are experiencing any technical difficulties with the upgrade, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. We continue to do as much as we can to make this a great community for LEGO fans. You are all very important to us, even those who aggravate us occasionally and we wouldn't dedicate our free time to you if we didn't have an abundant affinity for you and the entire community at large. So please, as most of you have, continue to be patient with us and provide constructive feedback with as much information as you can so we can do whatever we can to help solve the issues at hand as quickly as we can. And be warned, if you are rudely demanding of any of us, I will tell you what you can do with your entitled attitudes. Thank you all.
  3. I will be sure to ignore this. I volunteer to do this and have put a lot of time in to make this theme look less generic. I'm not the World's greatest CSS expert and this is what was able to do in the time I had to volunteer to the site. We're certainly willing to work on things that people want but you can be sure I'll leave the things that you don't like in because you are disrespectful. If anyone has any constructive requests, please feel free to request them but if you talk to me like I owe you something, it won't get anything done. There's more I can do on this, too. I need the time to get to it, but we have a lot more responsive capabilities. It was you!!! That's driving me nuts! Turn it back on! Correction: I will look into constructive requests. I will not look twice at anyone who acts like a dick. Thank you.
  4. If you cannot reply to topics, be sure to upgrade your browser, OS, java, etc and restart, clear your cache and restart your computer. If the problem persists please find our Facebook page and let us know. .
  5. It is not allowed as per our Site Guidelines regarding joining only for self–promotion. Feel free to be a productive member with one small link to your project in your signature. But as for this topic, I have removed the links. Thank you.
  6. This is fantastic, thank you for sharing. I'm going to move this to a forum where it's more likely to be seen. This forum is for info about the site itself.
  7. It is possible. Right now, as I said, we intend the first post of the rumor or news (or combined) thread to be such a post. Check the first post of the Marvel news thread, it should have all the up to date news pics in it. All we would have to do to make a read–only topic would be to take the first post, make it its own topic and lock it, pin it and leave a link to the discussion thread. That is a possibility. :wall: :damn: :damn: I am on the same wavelength as you and we get a lot of reports and complaints from members along the same lines which is what I try to explain to people whenever they complain about a moderator trying to keep the discussion on–topic. There's a thread in this forum called "Some Rude Moderators" where people can bitch about us.
  8. I agree. We had a lot of opportunities to let our frustrations get to us and delve into a non–productive discussion. Thanks to every who made positive contributions. I'm a bit biased but I'm especially impressed with Nemo for tackling a tough job and coming in afterwards with an open mind to discuss people's opinions. I am a big fan of our staff members. And an equally big fan of all of our forum members too. We have a pretty cool site.
  9. I love you. At least your idea here. The point of the news threads is to keep the first post updated with set news so people who are sick of combing through off–topic discussion can still see the updated news in the first post. But, we get really busy and sometimes don't keep up.
  10. Or maybe that's what the parenthesis mean? I don't know... Unfortunately, that's not a setting of the board software... Clever.
  11. This poll might be more useful if there were an option for separate threads.
  12. This is one we've gone back and forth on too. We used to have one thread for sets news and one for rumors but people confused them as often as they do facts and opinions. So we started combining them, causing the problem of people who want news having to comb through rumors...and arguments over rumors...and "rumors" that are actually just wish lists... One more thing: We do not delete member's posts...but we forgot to tell Nemo that. Sorry, I was not aware. We asked him to take over the gigantic task of keeping the Licensed discussions on track and forgot to mention to do it without literally cleaning things up.
  13. Now if you enjoyed those threads, then your opinion is wrong. That's a joke. Of course there is no way someone can tell you that your opinion is wrong. Regarding those threads, the staff reached a consensus to close them. I am talking about Community threads where Licensed themes can be discussed outside of the LEGO sets news discussions. Again, it is not the easiest to decide when a rumor discussion is on topic so we rely on members to help us decide when it's getting out of control. That's one way anyway. The responses may fluctuate. We're trying to make the discussion accessible to all. This is specifically about LEGO discussions that wander outside of the LEGO aspects and that line is gray. This is not in reference to other extraneous Community topics. Thank you.
  14. That is what we are doing here. We are not going to bring out our staff discussion in front of members. You've expressed your concerns. If the staff were to decide, for example, that I was being too rude with you guys, we would talk about that in the staff forum and then once we all agreed, I would come out and apologize for my actions. That's how it works. Don't expect us to publicly humiliate a moderator that members are upset with. It will never happen. Why would you think I would question it? I am totally unaware of any such practice. This is a staff issue that we are currently discussing. If I find I'm wrong, I'll certainly admit it. You're clearly dismissing what I'm putting into this if you think I've been dismissive. Honestly, I know I have other things to get to. I appreciate you expressing your opinion in the interest of bettering this community, but once you've made your point and it's been received, you don't need to argue point for point with me. I wouldn't think it's the best use of your time. I know I didn't accuse anybody of any such thing so politely check yourself. The Site Guidelines also say members will respect the staff and stick to the topic of the discussions they are participating in. This is really a two–way street.
  15. It is here and there because you're pushing your luck with your rude attitude. You might think Nemo is inappropriate but you're not going to get by with responding inappropriately. I won't stand for it. It isn't pointless. It is actually itself a point. >.< And it is part of the Site Guidelines. Grammar, English language. We're very serious about preserving what is being grossly bastardized by the social media generation (shakes cane at cathoid ray tube television). Again, we're volunteers and we donate this time to try to facilitate the site. Our methods are always evolving, we're all learning and nobody is perfect. We are doing our best and I know that Nemo does his. Nemo is invested in keeping order in the forum. If you're unhappy with the way he is moderating, you have this thread to express it to him. He can do with that information what he pleases. He's a reasonable guy. I know him in real life. I disagree with your impression of him, although I'm not saying that to take away from your opinion. You're certainly entitled to it, that's why we have this thread. Specifically, I don't see them as insults. And it's not my place to "reprimand" other staff in front of our members. If you don't think I'm trying to be helpful, what would you suggest I'm spending my valuable time on this for??
  16. He's like 8 feet tall. And your post is not constructive in the least. That's not a positive contribution to the community. No, we don't. If staff members are, that is against our philosophy. Please let me know when you see it happen as I can check the logs. My statement wasn't intended to change that opinion, which is not a fact. Respectfully, that's not what the reports said nor what I saw in the reported posts. The posts that were reported were off–topic and there was a little tiff and ego war starting between a small group of members. I feel that if a moderator's avatar offends you, you should re–evaluate how you are approaching this community. We will not be requiring our staff members to have positive–reinforcement avatars. It's "then" Sorry... Grammar stickler here. And what about members who complain that they can't follow a topic because of all of the extraneous discussion? We need to consider them as well. If we lose members because we're trying to keep as many people happy as possible, so be it. We're not going to let these news discussions repeatedly get off–topic as it is our biggest day–to–day task. Licensed and Star Wars get the most off–topic complaints and petty arguments. It is a problem we have struggled with for years. It is also the most common place for us to get complaints about moderator's "attitudes". As I've said before, our moderators have to make their points and sometimes gentle warnings go ignored. Also keep in mind that members complain when they subscribe to a news topic and they get notifications about new posts and the new posts are just people bickering about off–topic minutiae. We have all sorts of opinions and member's opinions to consider. Yours aren't the only ones or we wouldn't be trying to keep the discussion on–topic in the first place. Do you think we want to go through this every time? If members remain unclear about what is on–topic and what is off–topic then perhaps they can contact the moderator and ask. Or refer to the subject of the discussion and just apply a little active judgement before posting. Help the staff by staying on topic and try to give us the benefit of the doubt as keeping such enormous topics on task is somewhat like herding cats. And try not to get lost and bogged down in complaining about how we run things. There are plenty of ways to have fun here and if your banter with another member gets other members annoyed try to keep their enjoyment in mind as well and take the fun conversations to Community.
  17. You seem to be operating on the assumption that we delete posts. We do not. Nemo goes into that monster of a thread whenever members complain that there is too much off–topic chatter and those were the reports we got and so Nemo did his job. If you are an intellectual adult who normally keeps the discussion on–topic, thank you. Perhaps the comments were not directed at you but directed at the people who were acting immature and insulting each other. Everyone has a different method, everyone has a unique personality and everyone evolves over time so thank you for patiently giving your advice to our staff member.
  18. Excuse me. What does any member's contributions have to do with have a right to contribute graphics? The staff has their jobs and they make their contributions and each one of us volunteers our time to do it. If someone came into your workplace and started doing your job and expected their work to be implemented over yours, I'm sure you'd hold up your little sarcasm sign. If you want to continue to press the issue, I will tell you exactly what you can do with your sense of entitlement. If you guys want to request emoticons, feel free. But I (with the advice of the staff) will decide what new emoticons need to be added. I'm not going to make one for every whim people have. If there's overwhelming support for one and we don't agree, I would likely give in. But, you may think it's just a fun little game but I've put a lot of work into the graphics here and keeping the site branded. I use it for my portfolio and as an example for potential clients of my web design work. A bunch of emoticons in different styles doesn't look professional. And a ton of emoticons to choose from might sound like fun but if there's pages and pages of them, they won't be used and might even turn people off of searching for new ones. It's sloppy and I'm not going to let the emoticons get out of control. This is how it is until I resign from my volunteer staff position. Do I need to explain this to people? Not really, but here I am because people think they should get their way over me for some reason. I feel I've earned my right to dictate how the graphics for the site have run. I won't get into CM4Sci's amazing contributions to our site but I may have had a hand in making it what it is today, too. Nobody else on the site can have members come in and try to do their job for them. Notice how the staff gets annoyed when people mini–mod? That annoyance may also be because it causes confusion and if everyone did it we would have a mess of Guidelines that weren't communicated properly, but it's the closest thing I can think of to compare it to when someone makes emoticons, banners, graphics, etc and just expects them to be integrated into my site design. Maybe we'll have a contest where a prize is designing one single emoticon or contest poster, maybe. There won't be any banners designed by anyone but me, though, so there. But don't give me an attitude, rollermonkey and whoever else has a bug up their craw about this, because I don't want or need the help and I didn't ask for it. Now you all know, it's not welcome. It's my job and I will take care of it. Not to mention, (which is a phrase that makes little sense since I will be mentioning it right after I say that) the emoticons CM4Sci designed are very close to ones that already exist. The sunglasses one doesn't, but it did and I'm not sure what happened to it. I think I retired it when one of our former staff left to work for LEGO. I'll look for it and see if I can add it back in.
  19. Looks great, Dadandlad! Thanks for posting this in its separate topic. I think it will get better attention here anyway rather than the "Hello, my name is..." forum. Best of luck on the project and thanks for joining the site. I really love to see a father and son building together.
  20. No worries! Thank you for posting it on the forums. I appreciate that a lot. I hope you have a great time here.
  21. Yes. No. I don't believe you asked. You just started making and then expected someone to upload them. That's not how you ask. If you were to ask, I'd have said "No thank you. We have it under control." You don't come into a community and just start doing whatever you want and think you'll get your way just because. That's not how things work. Sorry.
  22. That is my job, so no. You can stop now. Thanks.
  23. Hi guys. Welcome to the site. It's very cool to see a father/son build team. As mentioned above, your first post violates our Guidelines which you can read by following the link in my signature. Specifically, these guidelines: So you may post a topic about your creation with one link to your IDEAS page but the topic must be about the creation. I have removed your IDEAS link from your post as I would any member on the site. Thank you. Please contact us with any questions or for further information regarding our guidelines.
  24. We had to limit it. If it was able to load all topics or posts for every member it would bog down our server populating that list, especially for someone like me who has been around or posted a lot. I don't remember if we limited it to five topics or also added a time limit but you can discover it yourself by following the instructions BrickCurve gave you.
  25. I'll "judge" since I'm trying to keep the site orderly and he has posted in the wrong forum and he is a new member. So, thank you, but I didn't really need any advice from you.
