Of course we have tried that but they alter it every time we do. We believe we're dealing with cheap labor and not necessarily bots. There are seven variations of that website in our database right now. We stopped another one that I haven't seen for a while but who knows... We've been adding spam terms to the swear filter for years now. We're not new. But at least you put another instance of their website in our board's content.

We are a very busy volunteer staff and we can't read every topic. If there is something you want the staff to pay specific attention to, it is best to PM one of us. We aren't aware of every topic on the site just because we are staff. Even the most active staff have periods where they are not able to participate as much due to real life priorities. Help us out by drawing our attention to specific things through PM. And be patient with us, please. We are doing our best to be patient as well. Thank you.

If you think this is the best way, why did you not do so in a PM to Pandora or another staff member? Also, could you please point out to me where she insulted you? This is the only post I could find and it seems rather polite and I don't see her calling you lazy in it. Perhaps I have missed something?

Thank you Paul Hogan. You have the same option on an iPhone. Scroll to the bottom and choose "Display full site" or whatever the link is...

Correct. Thank you for your help. Did you ever figure out what "CONVERSES WITH ADVERBS" meant?

That's not a list. It's just a png. If you want to know the code just click on any emoticon and then click the little light switch in the upper left hand corner of the reply screen to see the BBCode that creates the emoticon. Off the top of my head there's:

From our Site Guidelines: I appreciate the difficulty in learning a second language but our site is setup to be in English, only. I know this will cause a bit more work for you but please familiarize yourself with our Site Guidelines. You can copy and paste them into Google translate. We're more than happy to have you here as a member. That's a great MOC, too. However, you need to follow our rules like every other member here. Thank you.

Whitish plaque on bricks - how to clean
Hinckley replied to merman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I found this one time only on an eBay auction of Fabuland figures. I healed them with olive oil. I'm sure there's a better way but that worked for me. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 16 Rumors and Discussion
Hinckley replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Links to prelims are not allowed and the discussion as to where to find them is toeing the line. The topic is "LEGO Collectable Minifig Series 16 Rumors and Discussion" not "How to bypass Eurobricks's no–prelim rule and tell people where to find them." Please knock it off and no, this isn't directed only at pittpenguin, this is a general warning to all who tread here. -

Please read the Site Guidelines: I've edited your post to comply with that guideline. Please don't use our site as an IDEAS promotion billboard. That's not what we're here for. Thank you. Take the time to read the Site Guidelines and you might get an idea of the tone of our community. Thank you.

You might want to post this in the batcave topic.

From our Site Guidlines: Please post some pictures of your MOC and present it as an MOC or this thread will be locked and the link removed. Right now, it is only a link to your project which is against the Guideline posted above. Thank you.

Or it was because I confused Autumn with Spring. -
Excellent base, mishka. Lots of cool detail. I've edited your post and reduced the font size. That's not really a habit we encourage here. Thank you and welcome to the site. Please let us know if you have any questions.

No worries. Thank you for saying so. I didn't intend to come off so flustered about it but I can see how I did. Insert comments about internet and lack of tone... I have entered many iterations but that is somewhat of a desperate attempt. They seem to know when I do it, which creeps me out and it doesn't stop the registrations. We really just need to update our software to have the best anti–spam tools. Yes, this. Repeatedly. And they seem to learn what I enter into the filter. They really do. I don't see spam accounts (I can tell by the names) registering and spinning their wheels. The swear filter is not an effective tool as far as I can tell. They must be able to switch to a different iteration when one topic won't post. I replace certain terms with open tags so that the board software won't allow the topic to be posted. Yes, this. 1000 times, this.

Oh do we now? I have many entries in our swear filter based on what they try to sell so that the topics can't be posted. As far as the actual site code goes, we're looking into many updates and options to do something about the influx of spam recently. The problem is they aren't saying cvc79.com, they are saying C V C 7 9 . C 0 M Thanks for the advice, though. So, try and catch that with some code snippet. Ok, folks. Yes, I realize there's a lot of spam lately but we are working with unsupported software and looking into how to upgrade the whole site. Your patience would be greatly appreciated.

Please refer to our Site Guidelines. You cannot join just to promote yourself. We are not a billboard. We are a site for Adult Fans of LEGO to discuss the hobby. Non–LEGO topics do not belong in the LEGO forums. Please reconsider if you actually intend to be a member and discuss LEGO here. Thank you.

Chicago Museum of Science and Industry LEGO exhibit
Hinckley replied to rollermonkey's topic in General LEGO Discussion
We have a much different economy than Sweden. I've seen a Swedish pay stub and I know how much is taken out for your government. Most of the museums here have one free day a week. The Museum of Science and Industry, where Brick by Brick resides has free weeks that they schedule based on their slower times. Not as good as having a free day a week but manageable. There are also senior and student discounts, lower rates for children and many other discounts for IL residents through many other programs including the Chicago City Pass which is $98 and gets you unlimited access to most of the major museums, the Sears Tower Sky Deck. I'm not denying it can be expensive. If you're talking cost of living compared to the rest of the country, you might be surprised that to live here is not much more expensive than the national average, (though due to the state budget mess, our taxes have been a bit wacky the last couple of years). But we also have an amazing public transportation system and many places in the city to park at an affordable rate and jump in a cab or Uber or on a train or bus. And the CTA is still very affordable. Best. City. Ever. No arguments. Sorry, I know you all have valid points but the truth lies in the middle ground, I believe. I've been to a few in St. Louis as well but I just happened to go on two occasions when they were having free days, like Chicago does. Here's the CityPass list of destinations. There is a museum campus shuttle as well. You can park by Soldier Field and shuttle around the city all day. Or find one of the more affordable hotels in the Loop or the Warehouse District.- 14 replies
