  1. This seems to come up every few months or so. Yes, we're a volunteer staff who all give their time to keep this forum running smoothly. "Temporary ban" is an oxymoron. We suspend accounts from time to time to have discussions regarding member's behavior in a forum where the staff has oversight. We ask that you respect the rule that you don't read other people's threads because they are private conversations between staff and that member. If we were to create a subforum for each member we suspended, our software configuration would be an absolute mess. Asking to follow the simple rule of respecting another member's privacy shouldn't be too much to ash. Why do we do it this way? A lot of forums, and ours before we came up with this solution, tries to correct behavior in the actual discussion. Sometimes this goes ignored and other times it escalates which is not good for anybody involved for everything to be seen publicly. If there's a private conversation, there's a tendency for things to go more smoothly. We could use the PM system but that carries the possibility of people fabricating what has been said or for members or staff to behave in ways they wouldn't if there was a record of what was happening. So, we believe it is most fair to everyone to create the subforum where suspended members can discuss whatever issue has come up with the moderator and the entire staff has oversight. So, if you find yourself there, please be calm. Our staff is here for a reason and one of the biggest factors is that we trust them to be able to handle these things in a fair manner. Everyone has different tactics and everyone has different personalities and, as in life, you must do your best to communicate. After all, it is only your behavior that you have control over.
  2. I like this idea. Did they have an http:// or just a www?
  3. I like the idea!
  4. Is this a complaint or a hope?
  5. All good. Have fun building.
  6. This year we will be a bit lax on the rule that the entry must be created before the start of the contest seeing as we got a late start this year. Keep in mind, though, that you still have six weeks to build something new and only MOCs that were posted on Eurobricks will be considered for an exception to the entry rule. Thank you. Yes, that is acknowledged in the contest description but thank you for being about the 1000th person to remind us all that the Southern Hemisphere has opposite seasons every time this contest or a new season skin is introduced for the site.
  7. This will be allowed in the contest. Very nice work.
  8. No problem. Rick brought it to my attention when I asked what the plans were. I had a really busy November so he didn't know I had the time to run the contest this year. Be sure to thank him as well. He's much more organized than I am.
  9. We had this discussion and this will be allowed as an entry this year since we started a bit late and the answer had been given to you as "no."
  10. It's that time again!! The 7th Expand the Winter Village Contest is here! Check out all the details here.
  11. Days are getting shorter, snow is falling...in the Northern Hemisphere anyway... the Holiday Season is approaching and that means it is time for an annual tradition in the Town forum. TLG brought us a long–awaited Holiday Train this year! The Village itself, however, is lacking in new commercial or residential space so now it's up to you! Entries can be a building, public space, amusement park ride, train or anything you can think of that would fit in a Winter Village. Winter–themed sets don't need to stick to Christmas either, so represent the holidays you celebrate in Winter. We're all looking forward to seeing your unique creations to add to the Winter Village! The Rules Entries must be posted by midnight GMT, January 15th, 2017. One entry per member. Entries must be similar in size to an official release LEGO Winter Village set. Entries should be either Town-themed or Friends-themed and may include either (or both) Minifigs and Minidolls. Entries should be new (never posted anywhere previously) and be similar in style to the previous official TLG releases. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. Decals will be allowed if you've made them yourself, but no cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in their own entry topic in the Town forum. The title of the topic should begin with "Winter Village: " and then give the name of the entry. The entry post (first post in your entry topic) may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. Entries are to consist of no more than 5 posted pictures of 1024x768 pixels or smaller resolution but may also include a link to a folder of additional images of any size. The first picture will be used for your entry in the voting thread. Photos of your creation can be manipulated with Photoshop for levels, proportions and color correction but may not include graphic enhancements. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. The Prizes There are three available prizes. First place will choose their preference. Second place will choose between the remaining two sets and third place will receive the remaining set. 10254 Holiday Train 10249 Winter Toy Shop 10245 Santa's Workshop For Inspiration and Reference Expand the Winter Village Contest VI: Winners | Entries and Voting | Rules and Discussion Expand the Winter Village Contest V: Winners | Entries and Voting | Rules and Discussion Expand the Winter Village Contest IV: Winners | Entries and Voting | Rules and Discussion Expand the Winter Village Contest III: Winners | Entries and Voting | Rules and Discussion Expand the Winter Village Contest II: Winners | Entries and Voting | Rules and Discussion Expand the Winter Village Contest: Winners | Entries and Voting | Rules and Discussion Best of luck everyone, we're looking forward to seeing your entries!
  12. @fred67 I still have it. It is the bright colored brick with the red stripe in front of any topic you've posted in. Click that and it brings you to the first unread post. If you hover over it, it says "Go to first unread post" or something like that. Was there another place this used to appear?
  13. I like that too. I used to think of it every time I'd set a new default theme. I'm glad the Southern Hemisphere can now have a Eurobricks skin that matches their actual weather. I know there are worse problems in the world but still... I also like being able to force everyone to see the new theme first before they easily switch it to their preference. It's a pretty cool new feature of this version of the board software.
  14. It is the exact same difference in color as the old board.
  15. I have a question for TLG. Why don't they make mini–doll parts available in LDD? Is it because they think computers aren't for girls?
  16. @makoy Thank you
  17. The ads should respond to the screen sizes now which should fit the hamburger menu to the size of the screen, no matter what device you're on. If you're still having the problem, update your device OS and the app or browser your visiting the site on. If you're still having a problem, let me know what device and browser, version, as much info you have, please. Thank you.
  18. The control for this is used in several places throughout the site. It's the default in your signatures...so you all have control over it. Edit your signatures to display darker text...and guess what? There will be darker text. I'll see what I can do about where else it appears but I can't change it just for signatures until I catalog where else it appears. Too wide for what? Desktop? Mobile? What device? What operating system? What browser? The site search has always been sub par. Use Google. As had been mentioned several times up to that point, I meant it would take days to process the BBcode into HTML for the older posts. At this point, that completed days ago. Edit your signature and use a darker color.
  19. This is called a "hamburger menu."
  20. I would like to move that menu to the bottom left, since that is where your thumb is likely to be. I'm not sure why Invision put it in the upper right. That's not best practices for responsive design. I think it's an easy fix... I'll see what I can do. Chrome on Nexus, though, I have no way to check and my iPad is old. I may need you to help me test this or anyone on the same platform. Also, I may lock this thread as I attempt to catch up with the list.
  21. Turns out he couldn't remember his username.
  22. It is responsive now. The theme is the same. The menu moves to the upper right corner. I'm not sure what you are referring to. If you mean the blue brick on a topic you have already replied to, it is still there.
  23. That will be turned off as soon as I find the setting. Death to hyphenation!
  24. Thank you for apologizing. Hopefully, you will learn to identify that before you do it in the future. Owning up to what you did is admirable. A lot of people would've just ignored it. Sincerely, thank you. As for the layout and design, I will always be trying to learn and improve, yes. As for the single click is a paragraph break, sorry. For now, it will stay that way until I can think of a work around. If we turn it off, it merges posts without paragraph breaks, smashing everything together and starts replies directly after quotes and I can't stand for that. I really can't. My head will explode. I understand how frustrating that can be. I am also used to using cmd+Enter but I know it can be frustrating to get used to something new. I'll ask our Tech expert if there is any way we can get around the board software on that one. No problem getting the darker color on the post border. I'm working on some of the other "easier" ones but the new software has triple the amount of .css files and everything is in a new place. And there's this stupid new editor interface I'm trying to override. Chasing it all around with Firebug and real life keeps getting in the way. Thanks all for the constructive feedback. We're working as hard as we can. We've had a small number of accounts that needed to be manually approved on the new board software. I think I was able to find them all but if you are not able to login but can read this as a guest go to our Facebook page and contact me there with your display name and I'll fix that for you quickly. Days.
  25. No...um... ...unless you like it! Then, yes! I'll mess with that. It does look a little stark right now. Something a little warmer behind it might be nice. Maybe if there were a background color behind the + quote would also help. Or either or both... And again, thanks for the feedback from those who are being constructive. Reading back I feel my diatribe didn't iterate that enough. That's because I was pissed.
