  1. I try and store them assembled. If I don't have room I partially disassemble the G1 canister sets and place them back in their original can. I have a photo of my main Bionicle display here on Brickshelf; they're not sized to Eurobricks standards so I'll just have to leave the link: Here is the old VHS storage unit that now houses a lot of my Bionicle sets: http://www.brickshel...7_080523465.jpg Here is "Canary Row" the pile of canisters that store parts and disassembled sets, I need to clean it up a bit: http://www.brickshel...7_080552797.jpg Canary Row is underneath all this; you can see the box for Ekimu and Kulta in the corner: http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=6359143 Some of the assembled sets are also kept on the bottom shelves here; can you see Fenrahk, Hordika Nuju, and Matoro Inika hidden in there? Or even better can you see the Galidor figures hidden in the shadows?: http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=6359137 Some of my G2 sets are kept at my college dorm room. I just took a picture, sorry its blurry as crap but it should show the set up well enough:
  2. I can't comment on resale value since I bought all my G1 figures as first releases. And yes some sets are excellent and some are horrible. Those you have listed though are all good in my opinion, despite the limited articulation all the Toa Mata, and a lot of the late 2003 stuff are classics.
  3. Gah I need to watch that. I think my parents have the DVD, and I've seen the Simpsons parody...
  4. Man I should get around to rebuilding my Boxor someday...
  5. How did this old thread come up again? Looking at my big sets from 2004 and earlier, I'd say the Gunship is my favorite. The AT-AT is cool but fragile, and the original Falcon hasn't aged well. Still this poll would be a dire MESS if it was post 2004. Could you imagine trying to remember which Falcon is which? Which AT-TE or AT-AT is which? For example we've had THREE Gunship variants since 2004 (Two normal, one cargo); plus a slew of new stuff including one of my favorites the MTT from 2009-ish. Or not to mention the majority of the Force Awakens sets which included among the big sets another Falcon, a Shuttle, an X-Wing, etc. etc. etc. This vote would be almost impossible in the modern era to organize. Hard to believe Lego Star Wars has now been around since 1999...
  6. Curious to see how this pans out. I have a lot of first run Harry Potter sets, and the original Hogwarts Castle, Snape's Potion Class, and the Durmstrang ship are on display in my collection. But I missed out completely on all post-2004 sets, my only new Lego Harry Potter thing since then being the DK book with Yule Ball Harry. I'd be interested in a reboot of the theme, or even similar sets for Fantastic Beasts. The fact we haven't heard solid rumors yet though tells me 2017 would be a more likely time for Lego to release a theme.
  7. Fox and Sony have movie rights, not rights to books, TV, or comics. Hence the reason those characters can be in Lego games.
  8. Thanks for the compliments! Sorry to post again so quickly, but I am having fun modding the speeders. In addition to the scavenger speeder, I made a slimmed down police version and a bulked up "true to game" T2B Tank: My trio of speeders: Rear view of the speeders: Police speeder render, basically the cargo speeder sleeker with a new color: And the "Empire at War" version of the T2B tank. The 1x4 bley bricks can be replaced by spring shooters, or slimmed down to a more realistic look with slopes and plates: And for fun, a wireframe of the police speeder:
  9. A little LDD project I was working on this afternoon. Its a Rebel (or maybe Resistance) style outpost built along a ruined wall. Its a simple build, but I had some fun designing it. I used the Bluerender software to render it. Probably the funnest part of the build for me was this speeder based on the T2B Tank from several old Star Wars video games. Unlike the in-game versions, this one's main blaster canons have been replaced by a claw/crane for salvage and cargo. Basically imagine this as a speeder version of a tow truck. ;) It shouldn't be to hard to MOD it to include the in-game turret. The black bits on the side are supposed to represent locations for stud-shooters, for "playability" The main base itself. I decided to build it as an open air, against a ruined wall type deal. Mostly because I didn't want the hassle of building all four walls and a roof... There is a fusion generator, a computer terminal hidden under the wood shack. Crates, blasters, and an astromech charging port ala-Phantom Menace. I really like the idea of the "ugly" droid pieced together using old battle droid parts in the back. Must have been a Jawa special sale. Probably though the droids I am happiest with... A pair of G2 droids and an RX droid from the under-appreciated Star Tours ride (seriously there should be more MOCs based on that ride...) The RX droid is actually part of canon, appearing in the first season of Star Wars: Rebels, while G2 droids were mentioned in the former Legends canon serving the smuggler Talon Karrde. They are updated versions of an older design of mine. The photoreceptors of the RX droid aren't supposed to be that blue, that is a small rendering error I think caused by the blue background. Hope you enjoyed this brief MOC!
  10. Where is this train? Is it still there? Like that looks like it is begging to be railfanned, photographed from all angles, built in Lego, and then kitbashed in HO scale. That's just awesome. (I'd Lego ever opened a plant in the US, I'd love to see a SW engine in that paint scheme)
  11. This spam just reminded me of this video for some reason:
  12. Such early screenings? Yikes. Spoilers for a whole 2 weeks before it opens to full audiences :P
  13. Reach was actually my first proper introduction to the series, so I have a soft spot for it to. Sure I had played Halo Wars before hand, and like five minutes of the original Halo Combat Evolved; but Reach was the Halo first person shooter that I played all the way through. Fortunately my friend who had Reach also had a copy of Halo Anniversary (he also has Halo 3 and he used to have ODST) so I was then able to play the original game in its entirety shortly after I finished Reach. Despite that, Reach and Halo Wars are the only games I now don't own, seeing that they aren't in the Master Chief Collection. I should buy them someday. Agreed thought on Halo 5 lacking split screen... I only have one control for my Xbox One right now, and I am in no rush to buy a second one especially since nobody could join me in Halo 5.
  14. I just found a review on Brickset where the spear was made using pieces in the small BvS set. Although I haven't seen the movie, the simple build seemed cool.
  15. I don't suffer from colorblindness, but I have heard of people who do; so your article was very interesting to read how the issue affects AFOLs. I guess "daltonismo" is español for colorblindness? I guess I can say, "¡hoy aprendí algo nuevo!"
  16. I totally understand that point of view. When I was 13 I stopped buying G1 Bionicle in part because of witnessing the "doomand gloom" and flame wars that were on BZpower at the time. I came back to the line in 2015 with a surge of nostalgia, unlike a lot of you I was out of the loop on Lego news so I had no idea Bionicle was back, until I entered a Lego Store a few days after returning from South America. It caught me by complete surprise! But I will admit a part of my tepid response to the 2016 sets is 1) I honestly disliked Journey to One. 2) The negativy of the fan community is dragging me down. Sure I am a bit thicker skinned then I was back as a 13 year old, but my feelings about constant arguments and doom are the same. It's anoying. I've interacted with several communities here on Eurobricks, and also on Facebook; and the Bionicle fans are admittedly often the most ill-mannered and naysayers of the bunch, especially when compared to other Lego fans. The only other community I have seen act as bad is serious video game fans. So yeah, I guess am asking that we tone down the heat a bit. I think it is okay to discuss the "state of the line" to an extent, as I said I was disappointed in Journey to One and I openly mention it again and again. But this attitude of "its the end of the world!" needs to stop.
  17. Odd to see this topic was so hard to find... I had to search for it to dig it up. Anyways I have been re-reading Greg Bear's Forerunner Trilogy and just finished Cryptum. I also bought myself a copy of Halo: New Blood and speed read it in its entirety today (I strained my neck earlier today, I had nothing else to do!). I think the Forerunner Trilogy is among my favorite sci-fi books I have read; Greg Bear has some real writing chops. My parents got me an Xbox One for Christmas with Halo 5 and the Master Chief Collection. Since my college is a two hour journey from my parent's house, I only play Halo when I am down there for a weekend. I am enjoying the gameplay of Halo 5, particularly Warzone. Sadly I am a bit of put by how hard it is to turn off the sound feed from other players microphones; two things that ruin a Halo match for me is the sound of a seven year old yelling into his Kinect, and the sound of an angsty 15 year old insulting other players and dropping the f-bomb. I honestly don't know why Halo allows such online interaction. I know professional game players love the feature for the ability to communicate with team members, but lets be honest, when was the last time you played a multiplayer game were they used it as a tactical communications system? Nope, always a 15 year old trolling other players As for the story of Halo 5, it felt a lot like a set up for a bigger story. Which is a problem since I felt Halo 4 was the set up for a bigger story... Halo 5's campaign just breezed by to fast, and when it seemed like it was about to get really interesting is when it finished. I mean we basically got the most fan geek out moment I could imagine seeing Chief, Blue Team, Fireteam Osiris (with fan favorite Edward Buck in its ranks), in the same place as Commander Palmer, Catherine Halsey, and The Arbiter with a squad of Elites; and rather than seeing the group going into some epic battle against the villain... We saw the credits roll instead. I just hope Halo 6 can justify that cut-off in the story.
  18. Rebel Battlepack from this year. Fun little set but that Speeder is ridiculously huge. It's more like a Speeder tank than a Speeder itself. But hey my first Duros and Rodian figs in my collection. I dig that their aesthetic is similar to the Resistance figs, they are pretty interchangeable
  19. So the MCU's first rom-com? Or a MCU Desperate Housewives? Yeah I'll pass on that.
  20. All I have so far for 2016 is Umarak and Ikir. I hope to get Tahu, Kopaka, Gali, and Akida eventually and maybe Ekimu or one of the Beasts in summer; but I really don't find myself as attracted to this year as much as I was to 2015's sets. I think part of that is the fact Star Wars and Marvel Superheros are offering far more interesting sets IMO right now; plus I want money to find a way to get that GIANT Technic Mine Drill set in the summer (I'm not much of a traditional Technic fan, but that thing is so huge it looks like Minifig scale!). Also I have to pay for college, so knowing I will lose between $1500-$3000 per semester kind of dampens the desire to "buy all them Bionicles" although admittedly Tahu would be a lot cheaper than that Technic set I mentioned
  21. Why all the Galen Marek and Juno Eclipse stuff? I was pretty sure that when Disney swept away the old EU that The Force Unleashed took a lot of the blow. I'd say my list of things that DEFINITELY don't pertain to the the new Canon is:"Ben Skywalker, Jacen Solo, Jaina Solo, Anakin Solo... and Galen Marek". Sure it is possible Thrawn or somebody like that could be re-canonized but Galen Marek's story in founding the Rebellion has been destroyed completely by Star Wars: Rebels. For example the "Starbird" Rebel Logo that was once Galen's family seal in the old canon, has been re-canonized as Sabine's rebellious graffiti tag. Furthermore it would be very odd that Disney would bank their first Star Wars "Spin-off" film on the story of a short lived video game series that failed to meet expectations and had the third game cancelled. So yeah, no Galen and no Juno. All their story is to me is Fanon now.
  22. I guess in a few more years a re-release would happen; although I'll probably not care for it, a new Y-Wing would do well especially with collectors and children who missed the last ones. I guess the same applies to my 2012 set in a way, since I missed both of the previous sets and I wanted a Y-Wing so I bought it.
  23. I feel the 2012 Y-Wing is sufficient. If they release a new canopy I would just Bricklink it. Anyway, anybody want to start speculating Rogue One sets? I want that imperial landspeeder tank!
  24. Brings up a 404 error.
  25. Let the hype begin!
