  1. Ah, I did write " childish " the inverted comma's imply a quote of a view I do not hold. I love LEGO, have travelled to three different countries because of it and even mention it on my CV. But the fact of the matter is, society as a whole sees it as a toy and therefore childish. Hence your parents views. Attitudes are changing however. Helped a little in the UK by the LEGO Masters contest on TV and LEGO certified professionals.
  2. Very neat use of parts and colours. I could imagine coming upon a pair of shops like this when taking my seaside holiday! The harbour wall is an especially nice touch. Great build
  3. Also remember: It is always good to be respectful to your parents, they do want what is best for you and can be concerned if they think you are dedicating too much time to something frivolous or "childish". It took a while and a few events to turn my father around to the idea that it was okay that I still "played" LEGO (Mum never did mind, but she is pretty much a big kid herself). In the end it is all about balance, ensure the important things (Like family commitments, school/work and social time) happen first and then enjoy your hobbies around them. If you don't neglect the "big stuff" then no one can deny the "small stuff"
  4. Cute, colourful and in the Elves style. Very good
  5. It looks fine and if no one objects then no problem.
  6. Lovely cute little entry. Hidee certainly looks at home there.
  7. Hanging on for a few more items and 11/11 sale myself. Dr. Fate, Blue Beetle and a few others are rather tempting me.
  8. So many colours, it is greatly pretty! It is great that the builds are based around odd parts, that is one of my favourite things to do when I want to MOC. I bet this went down well on display. Thanks for sharing it
  9. Yep! If it looks like the build belongs in Elvendale, fit for a critter to cosy up in, then you can enter. Regular LEGO animals, older LEGO animals, Friends Animals or no animal at all, you are free to enter.
  10. Regular animals are okay, but the build still needs to fit into the Elves theme.
  11. Answers Yes indeed, a tiny dragon's lair is perfect for the contest. In the rules, I did mention that overhang from reasonable foliage was acceptable. The build covers an 8x8 space only. A huge tree with an 8x8 trunk would extend far past the boundaries set, but an 8x8 with a tree on it would be ok.
  12. They probably fit here if they are not too Zombie/SF based.
  13. The Nights are drawing in, the weather is turning cold. It is time for a contest! Take a look at how to enter in Action and Adventure Themes.
  14. As the nights draw in and the weather gets cooler, all the little critters are off to find somewhere cosy to hide out the cold weather. Elvendale's animals are no different! From their elven friends or with their own two paws, the animal inhabitants have somewhere to call home for Winter. But just what sorts of dens do the have? That is up to you! In an 8x8 sized space, create a cosy hide-away for your favourite Elvendale critter and you are in with a chance of winning cool prizes. First Place: The most recent copy of the Elves Magazine with two cute animal friends for free! Also first choice of a new set of Elves Tags for your Eurobricks profile. Second and Third place win their choice of these new tags. The all important rules are below! One entry per member. Entries should be no larger than 8x8 studs. Reasonable overhang (foliage etc) is allowed but within sensible limits. Entries should be new (never posted anywhere previously). You do not have to include an animal, but they will be appreciated. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. Decals will be allowed if you've made them yourself, but no cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in their own entry topic in the Action and AdventureThemes forum. The title of the topic should begin with "[Autumn Animals]" and then give the name of the entry. The entry post (first post in your entry topic) may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. Entries are to consist of no more than 3 posted pictures of 1024x768 pixels or smaller resolution but may also include a link to a folder of additional images of any size. The first picture will be used for your entry in the voting thread. Photos of your creation can be manipulated with Photoshop for levels, proportions and colour correction but may not include graphic enhancements. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. Winners will be decided by public vote The Contest Ends on November 30th at 23:59 GMT (Wrap those animals up warm for winter!) So, get building and have fun!
  15. Legal action discussion is fine. It was the outright promotion of LEPIN that was removed from the forum. Also, discussion of compatible brands has always gone into Community. This includes any legitimate competitor brand that is not a rip-off of an official LEGO product. Interesting you should say that. Minibrix and Kiddicraft existed when LEGO only made wooden toys. In fact, the Automatic Binding Brick from Kiddicraft was taken and slightly modified by LEGO, then sold in countries where Kiddicraft didn't have a patent. The truth came out in the 80s when TLG were fighting Tyco. Minibrix were made of rubber, so where slightly different.
  16. Is it a link within the Signature line of the staff member posting? (See the bottom of my post, mine has links too). I am afraid it is a little outdated in that staffer's profile as real life gets in the way and little things like updating their online signature get forgotten. The tutorials list was very old and not often updated so it was moved to a different section of the forum, where such old threads go. If there is something specific you seek, chances are that someone can answer or has answered Theme Specific questions within that subforum, else General Discussion is likely to have the answers you seek.
  17. There is also lots of building LEGO and sorting LEGO and LEGO related games. All the fun!
  18. A funny concept well executed. I love the spindly limbs and the great details you have packed in there, also a nice use of those airjitzu domes.
  19. Hi, welcome to Eurobricks. We have a requirement that members post in English so that everyone can understand each other's posts and communicate easily. Thanks.
  20. Sorted then! I will book them off right away.
  21. This is lovely! A great keep and so well built/planned (I never had the patience for the LDD and LCAD designs) are you sure it is impossible to attain as a real life build? After all, nothing in there looks uncommon and it would make for a great display piece in the ol' man cave....
  22. Wow, those have some fantastic lines. Great spaceships even if they won't hit SHIP size. Now... Any plans for Classic Space colours?
  23. I would suggest working with the physical parts, LDD is never as good as the real thing. Also on the subject of "in system" or "legal" : while some connections might stress parts, you have to keep in mind that other enforced limits are in place as they are too complicated for children or do not withstand the more "robust" play typical of the target market.
  24. The forum has a standing request for English only, it is the language that all members can understand. Thanks
  25. Hmm. But alright. However, lets keep things off the topic as it is on the list of forum don'ts. Thanks.
