  1. A word of advice for people who want to draw attention to positive things or situations that do not qualify for reporting, you can also @ -someone into the thread or message a staff member. There is a lot of things to get through on a forum, and sometimes once a half-dozen spam posts are zapped and an argumentative or off topic post is de-escalated, there isn't a great deal of time to go searching for things that need doing extra to the usual staff to-do list.
  2. That sphere is astounding and I love the broken windows technique. Thanks for this fantastic MOC.
  3. I spoke to a family friend who is in insurance and he told me that home insurance covered it (he was surprised at the not insignificant value of my collection). But this is in the UK. As close to a comprehensive inventory as possible is best.
  4. So as I have been working on indexing I have noticed far too much lost to Photobucket, so they're not getting listed. It has been crazy nostalgic to find posts and threads I recall from my early days. Here is another question: I have decided to list tags for each theme in the index. Would an explanation of them be appreciated?
  5. Promoting an Ideas Project? Can't be bothered to engage with the community here on Eurobricks and follow the guidelines? Post it here! That, or we will just put the post here. Fear not creators, if you follow the guidelines: - Then you are free to carry on. Anything that isn't will go here. (PS, don't mind the time travel. This is some moderator timey-wimey shenanigans)
  6. The Adventure Index. Home of all themes related to rip-roaring adventure! Adventurers, Pharaoh's Quest, Dino, Dino 2010/Dino Attack and Monster Fighters content is indexed here. Tags - A Prize first awarded for The End of the World Contest - An Adventure Themes tag for building contests ---- First awarded during the Lester Contest - A special tag for the winner of the Lester's Big Adventure contest. ----- - Monster Fighter tags given out as prizes at Halloween. 7. I want the indexes to be for forum content only. You are welcome to start inspiration threads that can be linked into the appropriate index as discussions . These indexes are planned to be one-stop places for all sub-theme content so people can find things related to their favourites within this diverse "theme".
  8. OK, so people want indexes, I want to make them. Brand new and better than before. For reviews, MOCs and discussion threads pertaining to each theme. The feature on the forum that turns forum links into a tidy box means a nice index can be created. (things like contest voting might be left out). However, there are a lot of themes that are rather short. So I came up with a solution. Covering themes! So it works like this :- Adventure :- Adventurers, Pharaohs Quest, Dino, Dino 2010/ Dino Attack, Monster Fighters Aquazone :- Atlantis, Aqua Raiders, Aquazone. Fantasy :- Elves, Chima, Nexo Knights Ninjago (has an index to itself, as it is evergreen) Secret Agents :- Alpha Team, Agents, Ultra Agents. Underground :- Rock Raiders, Power Miners. Now, this still leaves Time Cruisers and World Racers alone. I do not know where to fit them in besides creating a "Wildcard" section. Of course, there will be a Master index that links to each theme section What do people think?
  9. By the members for the members. That sounds good! It will grow the community, so long as it is polite and not clique-like. There are also some useful LEGO pieces that work for tags:
  10. Printed right? Can also put one on my phone
  11. Heh, my manager is pretty enthusiastic on my behalf in her own way. The company was taken over in April and when members of the training team were over she mentioned that of course I was quick to link things together on the new computer system, as I build with LEGO all the time. I was quite amused.
  12. Aye. LEGO is on my CV, my boss knows I do things with LEGO. My colleagues know I am all about LEGO. My friends that are 'outside' LEGO get me sets as gifts, talk about things and ask after my projects. Though, I do move in fairly nerdy circles. However, friends of the family also know about my hobby and like to ask about my latest builds. And, I have played and built with LEGO all my life, so it is simply my hobby and everyone knows.
  13. Not as far as I am aware, and I was Queen of the Clone brands... I think one would be very interesting, as I still find myself MOCing and wishing that there was something in LEGO form that Kreo or Cobi have already provided.
  14. Oxford is fab, I love the historic sets as they are embedded in the native culture, something we do not get. I hope that TLG's inroads into China mean we may get such sets.
  15. Just to address the desire for leaks... Unfortunately as LEGO has become bigger and produce products for large IPs belonging to huge concerns (House Mouse for one) the site becomes vulnerable to litigation we can ill afford. As a fan site run by volunteer hobbyists, if someone were to leak Star Wars sets that spoil Star Wars movies (even down to a character name) then The Eared One will get lawyers on the case. While reddit et al are big enough to shrug off the cost, Eurobricks is small fish in comparison and would end up beggared and shut down. I know that hardly counts for much for the leak lovers, it is sadly true.
  16. Wow, that is darn cool right there. Looks like someone who would walk around in Skyrim. Great use of parts to bulk up the armour but still keep the look of Jayko from the classic (?) figures. Colour me impressed.
  17. Thanks for this thread @LegoModularFan I have also noticed how things have quieted down. I joined around ten years ago (10 come December!) to a really active forum with lots of members posting and sharing MOCs and ideas. Now over the years the members that I recall have gotten less active but for some I appreciate that it is part of adult responsibilities getting in the way of fun and hobbies, for others it is a case of other hobbies taking over. However, it also seems that the younger generation of fans interact online and with the hobby in a vastly different way. I know that the use of forums is not on the agenda a lot of the time (My youngest siblings are ten years (and more) younger and they are much more into snapchat and the like). I have also seen that the activity that is here is more talking about future sets and looking for leaks, not about creating and sharing. Again, a culture change or just what people want to use forums for? I have made a thread similar to this for Action and Adventure themes. One nice change since the inception of the sub-forum is that there is always going to be an active theme (Ninjago is now evergreen). I have also seen a change in that text reviews are now less popular, people like video reviews. Would people like video reviews to be indexed in the review index? I am glad that people like mini contests and tags. I can arrange a lot of those! Another thing: What would encourage people to post more/more MOCs?
  18. As a contest to encourage building within a theme and maybe get people building more, I would love to see more builds from people.
  19. Hello Eurobricks! My, so many excellent vehicles have been submitted for my consideration that I just can't choose! I'll have to prevail upon you helpful members to assist me in this task. 20. Sometimes there are externally sourced adverts on the sites that get blocked because they link to "dangerous" sites.
  21. I will do it just this once, as the connotation of your name does make it look like you are here to sell.
  22. Glad to hear it, it was a real puzzler.
  23. Welp, closed the contest! (ah, stressy work day on Monday. My apologies.) I will get a voting topic up soon!
  24. Here is a long shot: Does anyone have an Emmett keyring? My brother is quite fond of his, but it is wearing out now.
  25. Also, next year is Windsor, so you'll be super close to meet up.
