Pigeons are trained to fly to their home "loft" and once they are ready, many are taken to a specific point. These are then released to race to their home. The winner is the first of the pigeons to return to their loft. They can sometimes get lost, due to a variety of reasons to do with our modern world. It is a semi popular hobby, training the birds and then taking them to race.
  2. When attempting a new trick, it is always best to practce prior to public attendance
  3. Thanks for that! Maybe the sets will be out soon in the UK
  4. Each image is a link to the MOC thread.
  5. AbraKadabra! Izzy Wizzy Lets Get Busy! Shazam! Tibbar! We seem to have got a rather large rabbit... The final, 16/16. 1/16, 2/16, 3/16, 4/16, 5/16, 6/16, 7/16, 8/16, 9/16, 10/16, 11/16, 12/16, 13/16, 15/16.
  6. Yes, Duplo first appeared in 1969, I have a Duplo rattle that was first manufactured in 1984, when Ritavik was first displaying their bricks. As you mean the "mega" scaled bricks, well there is Quatro. Quatro was first sold in 2004 and then discontinued in 2006. So for super large bricks Mega does have the history, but for all the rest, it is fighting for a market share with Lego. Duplo is the bricks four times the size of system, and Quatro is bigger again. 7. New member Cakeman brings us an exciting review of 5984 Lunar Limo Click on the pic to discuss this in our LEGO Sci Fi Forum
  8. Love this ship I wish I was any good at building them.
  9. "No one can get to the tower from the forest side! They said. Well, brothers we shall! Lord Grimbutt shall pay for a feast for all the peasants in the vally!" This is the penultimate big. I had to rebuild the big (it is better now) as after I loaded the pictures I noticed I had covered one forestman with a tree... 1/16, 2/16, 3/16, 4/16, 5/16, 6/16, 7/16, 8/16, 9/16, 10/16, 11/16, 12/16, 13/16, 14/16.
  10. Well, the thing is, this was a challenge to myself to create 16 MOCs for 16 days, over themes I have never touched upon and in an area of MOCing I have never tried (beyond the 8x8 vigs). I set the parameters of the MOC to allow myself some limits and to force the project through (if it gets too big, a MOC ends up sitting on the table, awaiting parts I never get around to buying as a new idea comes along). I have a notebook full of my ideas, the nurses (alongside the Zombies and the Skater Emos) being among the first planned, back when I had just ordered my box. I am limited by my time scale and by my collection, I had to have a speedy turnover on these scenes to have something done on time and spares for the two days this week when I have no chance to MOC. I admit I wanted to build a curtain to go around the bed (drawn back, so the empty bed could be seen) but I was faced with a failure of my method and not wanting to resort to my clone brand parts or to put it aside, I skipped it. If I could have had the parts, the floor would be patterned. I missed out many possible details to allow a cleaner, less confused MOC (I was thinking all kinds of medical instruments, walls at the sides, another bed) and for better realism (if a patient that needed that many machines went wandering, they possibly would meet ol' death). Another problem is thus: I really do not like hospitals. I have vauge memories of what they look like (these come with a smell ) and a few chance sightings from media. I had no idea what to build really and it is not a theme I build at all (unless it is Space Medical). I hoped the comedy of the scene would carry it through. Sorry you didn't like it, maybe you'd enjoy some of the other scenes I have built (no prizes for guessing which themes I am not familiar with MOCing) and the final two I shall be posting, one later today and one tomorrow.
  11. New sigfig on the horizon? Thanks for the Review. Once these sets are out in the UK it looks like i will be doing another S@H Spree...
  12. Ah ha! Thanks for this Larry, it's a real help. When I have a little more time I'll dash over to the site and post some pictures of the set and suchlike. Old Best Lock scaled bricks? I have some of those knocking around somewhere... Once again, thanks for the review and the site link
  13. That'll be the last to be posted. It is, as was suggested, saving the best 'til last. Come Monday all will be revealed!
  14. 14/16 Three Nurses Looking For Dawes. With all those needles, I don’t blame him for hiding! Two More To Go!! 1/16, 2/16, 3/16, 4/16, 5/16, 6/16, 7/16, 8/16, 9/16, 10/16, 11/16, 12/16, 13/16.
  15. Blech, Typos. I use the number pad and 9 is right above 6. Earlier this evening I was having laptop issues (no power from cable, thus batteries only...) So I wanted to get this posted to keep on schedule (so close I do not want to let it slip) and must have missed it. I'll fix it now... In good news rage at the cable seems to have worked and I have my next post ready to go from any computer (USB memory stick for the win) so I will succeed in this task!
  16. I took extra effort on the pavement, what with my job related knowledge. I was half tempted to just leave it studded but I thought better of it when I found a cache of light bley tiles. I did have to use minor amounts of blutack to keep the two skaters in place.
  17. I love epic music, makes mundane tasks action packed (I swear the filing goes faster if I play some...) So Thanks for all the kudos guys. I am here to serve the community. Let me know if you think I'm not fulfilling my duty
  18. Three skaters (or emo kids) in their natural habitat. It is a rare occasion to find empty steps in a town center! 1/16, 2/16, 3/16, 4/16, 5/16, 6/16, 7/16, 8/16, 9/16, 10/16, 11/16, 12/16.
  19. That is a really cool car there wooootles. When the pictures were still loading I thought it was a tiny turbo, (with the lines it was keeping) but when it loaded... Wow. Now all you need is to MOC is racing a jump jet!
  20. *the sound of a motorcycle zooming towards the building while an exciting soundtrack plays, there is an explosion and a crash as the bike crashes through a window* Hello. Yes, I am the Action themes regulator. Thank you for all the congratulations. I hope to do a good job there. Edit: aha. Here is some soundtrack! name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">
  21. Thanks for posting these, but they do need to have better pictures. Are you using a camera phone? You do not need the most expensive camera in out there, even the cheaper un branded digital camera can take pretty good images. Also, a tip for photographing minifigs: Without Macro Zoom, it is best to postion the camera further back and zoom into the minifigure you want to photograph. I had Macro Zoom recommended to me by Daved Morgan Marr himself, but it comes on the expensive cameras so I had to work out how to take half decent pictures. Anywho: Thanks, can't wait to see the rest of this review.
  22. I <3 purple! That looks lovely and would fit right into any of the old city districts. It reminds me of the city centers around me. Old building with a modernised facade.
  23. Fire has been discovered! Big thing moves through sky! What is behind trees? The cavemen are great, their clubs are cool looking and the new print is a must for cavemen fans. 1/16, 2/16, 3/16, 4/16, 5/16, 6/16, 7/16, 8/16, 9/16, 10/16, 11/16.
  24. I was thinking people be a bit creative with things, but overused colourchemes are the ones that look nicest.
  25. Coulrophobia is a rather common one.
