  1. There is a special forum for this sort of thing, so I'll move it over there. Welcome by the way. As you found your way to this part of Eurobricks, I guess you have seen all the FAQs and suchlike. Enjoy your time here!
  2. Merged the multi threads back into the first of the threads! I knew as soon as I saw the re-occurence of news that all this would be discussed again!
  3. I am afraid that it looks like what you've got there is a bootleg. It is most likely a clone of a Drome racer set, which is why the minifig looks slightly too large on the car. Those sets had a demi-fig not a full figure. The minifig looks like a mix of Oxford (legs, body) and Best-Lock (Head and headgear).
  4. If you swapped the cabinet for a loo and put a shower unit at the bottle end of the bath it would look just like my bathroom! Great little MOC there. Sandy? Have you not encountered a headrest at the back end of a bathtub? Or those grippy mats that one puts by the bath to prevent your slipping with wet feet on a smooth floor? (I am assuming this is what they are, but they are a common feature of the bathroom here in the UK)
  5. Lego 4+ wasn't like the Lego of their childhoods, thus it is bad or wrong or not lego in their minds. After all, many of the main arguments used against 4+ applies to Fabuland too... Mark my words, when I am in my 40s and all the kids who got 4+ as their first "real" lego are AFOLs, then there will be a similar following for 4+ as there is for Fabuland now.
  6. I am nearing the end of this sorting! I have to finish sorting slopes, plates and random small/odd parts. However I do need to buy more ziplock bags and screw sorters. I ran out my count stands at 50 "small" size 40 mid sized and about 6 large ones. I will re-supply and soon finish!
  7. Yup, this is a 4+ Dr Octopus. If he only has two arms, it would seem he is broken or missing parts (I couldn't tell you which as I have never seen the figure). EDIT: Moved this thread to licensed as it is Spiderman.
  8. Well, my laptop dies and I miss all this interesting discussion! If you'd notice my very "I'm new" thread you'll see that my top three favourite themes were Action themes. And now: Since Time began, stories have always had a good and an evil. The listeners/readers needed someone to root for and someone to boo. There were scenes of darring do and evil schemes. As civilisation progressed, these stories kept their basic tropes no matter how much the medium evolved, nor the new media that became availiable. Lego Action Themes provide these tropes for fans of Lego and to enthrall children with their exciting features. Those first themes you cited are more Town than Action. They are mundane, they happen for real and are not so exciting (extreme) to attract the lovers of adventure and imagination. Now, I am by no means disrespecting town/city or its fans. But Action themes provides an exciting backdrop with elements rooted in reality but with features from fiction to grab your attention and run wild with your imagination. I guess this is why I like it so much
  9. I am half way through sorting by sort (slope, brick, plate etc) once that is done, each of the "sort" boxes will be sorted by type. I realised I was 50% done when I filled my sorting box (The large shallow Samla box from IKEA) sorted every single part, then filled it a second time... I have my work cut out, but it took under a week to sort the first lot, so I should be done with stage one in another week.
  10. I am in sorting hell. I started sorting when I can, and it is taking a long long time. I am going to go for ziplock bags in larger boxes for "big" parts like bricks and slopes. Then screw sorters/DIY draws for the "fiddly" bits. My minifigs are mostly sorted, but I am going to get some more Ikea PLAS boxes to further subdevide the types. I am 80% through with my earlier sorted by colour parts, but the big box is still full... I am not buying more lego or MOCing until all is sorted, thus I have to do it
  11. I think it was fate, here I was thinking that I hadn't blogged in a while and mayhaps there was something to make a post about and as I refresh the forum your thread appears! I love this, it reminds me of so many highstreet buildings in the city.
  12. Love it. I think it is great when someone uses parts from another theme set to make a fantastic MOC themed elsewhere.
  13. Did you miss the bit where Amy Pond had never heard of Daleks? All that stuff hasn't happened for some reason.
  14. Point the First: Does it really matter what the figure is? It looks cool and ticks the Historic Minifig box. Point the Second: I live about six miles from Isca Silurum, and Romans were a large part of my history education, that design of armour may not have been hugely prevelant, but is certainly the most recognised form of Roman Soldier about, thus the sort of look Lego would use for a true Roman mnifig. I think if you wish to persue this discussion, this thread is better suited to the task.
  15. The sad thing is, many Action themes only last two years, unless a major overhaul of the theme can take place. Adventurers lasted so long because they could be re-themed from desert to jungle and then dinosaurs to the orient. With power miners, there is only so much that can be done to revitalise it, which they did, so this is why they end.
  16. I like this MOC Now all we need is some other kinds of cattle....
  17. I have a dragon. It is a plush version of the Duplo ones from the old Duplo castle. It was also my avatar a while back (pre PoP month. I love my plush dragon, the minifig plushes are mildly disturbing however.
  18. Queen of the Clone Brands and Soundtracks No idea who added that little extra, but it is certainly due to my posting of soundtrack music here and there.
  19. Sad to say folks, were half way into the year and no news on any sets for the christmas wave. I am unpinning for now. Before we know it, it will be time for 2011 set speculation...
  20. Unpinned, to conform to new policy. It's linked to in the main review index. I might merge it there at a later date.
  21. has set her status

  22. Far from cheapest. It is cheaper, but the ProBuilder sets cover a theme and scale I am not interested in. Just like Lego, I only buy sets of a theme I enjoy.
  23. I needed suggestions to make a shortlist, but somehow it seems my Sigfig is the only nominee... However I was planning on building something in gold, black and purple for my sigfig...
  24. This Lego Minifigure Customisation Technique has been passed down the Armstrong line for generations! I used the PoP claw things to represent his alchemical guantlets. Bonus scene: This is from the later chapters of the manga, where the results of alchemical experiments by the military to create the perfect soldiers are released into the central headquarters building. The grey missile is his "signature" attack in which he transmutes lumps of rock into artillery shells with his face on... I decided to build the figure to celebrate/mourn the manga's very last chapter which is out this month.
  25. Ready to race, the Eurobricks Racer only need a driver. Who do you think would be the best?
