As vexorian said. bootleg not clone. There is a difference (I do keep on saying. I really do).
-
What brand? I thought I knew most of them and some varients.
-
Here is the thing, they are not excess production, they are bootlegged from stolen molds (the reason I could match it was due to my purchasing a Beyblade with bt beast kit) The molding is poor quality and the plastic worse, plus it is branded COGO, not the real manufacturer. Also all of A2Zs products are bootlegs...

Mine is saying 20/8/10. So before the month is out! -
A PDF of the double sided instruction sheet is hosted here. If in future it isn't there, PM me and I can sort it out.
-
It might as well be Lego. Such is the quality of the plastic. As I mentioned before the only difference is the "STAR" printed on the studs.
-
The photo's document the only real differences. I poured out the bag and was just amazed, it was like opening up a Lego set(and boy am I familiar with the feel of rummaging in new Lego bricks, MMV was my most recent build proir to this set!) I'll get the scans done tomorrow then LT, I may need to .JPEG them unless I can find a PDF host/ e-mail them.

Wow, my camera is better than I thought it was! It is an amazing match though isn't it?

So I went to The Works on the weekend. There at the shop was a very large stack of Click Brick sets of many kinds. I decided to go for the tractor as it had a figure. The Box. Front and Back. A price sticker for £1.99, a picture of the set and a "Works with other brands". As you can see from the back, this "Agri" series is made up of other sets that combine with the tractor. A great concept and after minimal spend of about £8 you have a well stocked machine barn. I will review the other sets at a later date. Contents: Instruction sheet. Bag of parts, Bag of Figure and Glossy Catalogue. I can provide a scan of the instruction on request. If you ask today/tonight then I can get it done tomorrow in work. The catalogue revealed a few more sets to buy, FIA's meccano like product line and thier 3D foamboard puzzles sets. A closer look at the bag of figure and the "odd" parts. As you can see, the figure is disassembled entirely. Which must save money on the equipment needed to clip tiny people parts to each other. The parts that are "odd" hardly differ: The lamp brick has a tiny line above the lip, the 2x2 round plate has a circular hole instead of a cross, which is to be clipped to the peg plate, which is a plate thickness instead of a brick thickness. The axle doesn't have an extra 1x2 plates-depth underneath. The only part not seen in todays Lego is the peg plate. The bricks are amazing, wonderfull, glossy and bright. Their colour is a near, if not perfect, match to TLG bricks. They have great grip and feel just like Lego does. The Built Set A great design that would be at home on any Town fan's farm. The other complimentary sets clip onto this tractor to add to playability and therefore fun. Figures Well, apart from the face print, this guy fits right into any Lego Town, his orange helmet is a match to TLG's and is a near colour match to the offical shades. As for Quality: Take a look at the image below. Which is TLG and which is Clone? Hope you enjoyed this review. The set is 100% replicable in Lego, I can scan and post the instruction sheet if you'd like. I love this, it is as good as Lego from bricks to figure and I shall certainly be watching their output with interest. I also bought one for my little brother, he was so pleased that he went to town the next day and came back with two sets.

Success. UK based webseller with Box to be on sale soon. Camping site until release day, then I shall reveal sources. -
Plastic dress. It is the entire figure though, only head and arms are seperate. The figure is hollow inside and has no further grip other than that provided by the 2x3 cross section.

You don't have to close the group, you could just change it into a group for GI Joe MOCs and minifig customs. That is the bast way to create a theme Lego won't do or "ended too soon". You might still get plenty of interest in it, seeing how popular GI Joe is to what is a major age group of the US AFOLs.

Omigosh, Oky badmouths the Power Rangers!? Regarding the name Ninja Go, it sounds a whole lot like sentai anime and the like. Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (aka G-Force or Battle of the Planets), the afore mentioned (and totally awesome) Power Rangers. Colour coded like Exo-Force and with a few larger than life villans. It could be as successful as any other action themes.
-
Correct. Company founder was against it, this is why green bricks weren't around in the first place. "The one continuity not really touched on by Lego is that of military toys (despite there being over 30 types of Lego weapons). While there are sets which can be seen to have a military theme, such as Star Wars or the German and Russian soldiers in the Indiana Jones sets, there are no directly military-themed sets in any line. This is following Ole Kirk Christiansen's policy of not wanting to make war seem like child's play." I suppose when you live through two world wars you don't really want to see children treat is as a fun game.

Lego still says it has an "No War Toys" policy. Yes, it has been stretched by the Army Men and Star Wars but a straight up GI theme? Don't think it will happen any time soon. Action Figures is where GI Joe was created and possibly where it will stay. Anyway, Hasbro had its own brick building toy Built to Rule, I don't think they'd want Lego to have access to their properties. GI Joe building toys.

Well, thanks to crossmr I have finally been able to get hold of some Oxford set. So here is one, a lovely pink princess! Box is in Korean, so I can't say what it says... The box contained the bag of parts, a single sheet of instructions and some stickers. The unusual parts are a nice shade of pink and trans-glitter pink. The hinge is 8 studs long (4 on each arm) and the fence is a different one to the common Lego part. The gem is similar to the crystal ball, it is hollow inside and fits over a 2x2 space with a round base. The accessories: A mirror, fan and mop... Why there is a mop I have no idea, it is possibly a standard feature of the sprue. The finished set. Princess Pinkerton in her odd room. The figure is all one part, her dress is hollow. 3x2 wide at the base. As you can see, it is fully Lego compatible, I don't think Pink is quite Draggy's colour, but he still insisted in checking his reflection. Fun fact: The arms are Lego arms, 100% compatibility in all areas The plastic is wonderful quality and very bright colours. The parts grip Lego as well as other Lego grips Lego and doesn't look amiss. A fine addition to any collection. Considering Lego's inability to create sets that are marketed at girls, this is a real contender. Hope you enjoyed the review. Disclaimer: No Dragonators were harmed in the creation of this review (much)

This was two christmases ago in Wilkinsons... It may just have been a mistake on my part (I do not have a photo and threw the box away a long time ago) I got the Tractor today. An eye opening review shall follow soon...

Most imported brands I come across can be traced to Ackerman, they re-sticker many sets with an Ackerman logo. This includes both Little White Dragon and Sluban sets. There is a generic brand known as MY which sells cheap toys, including some repackaged LWD sets. There is Liago, which seems to trade alongside Sluban. Another brand that Wilkinson stores sold at christmas last year which seems to have designs matching many of the other generic brands. There are some generic designs and brick manufacturers who sell to distributers who brand them up and price them low. Just to be clear on one point: A Bootleg/Ripoff steals the unique designs of another brand/manufacturer. It uses similar branding as popular companies to cause confusion and is the kind often siezed by officials as the company is breaking the law. (Enlighten, the Click Brick that isn't FIA, Shifty and Kaize)They are trying to be the brand that they are not Then there are Clone Brands. These brands use the same interlocking bricks that Lego has no legal claim on any longer (and in fact copied from a British toy maker with minor alterations in units of measurement) but have their own unique designs and figures. These brands (I dislike the term clone) are like Lego and fit with Lego, but are not quite Lego. As for the Click Brick confusion. I have found Liago and Sluban sets with FIA logos stickered over the Sluban logo/Liago logo. They must be consolidating the brand into Click Brick, hence the Click Brick logo over the Sluban Logo (Just like how Ackerman re-lable LWD sets after import)they say that they are designed by thier British company, mayhaps they formerly imported from China and thus these Sluban sets are stickerd Click Brick. I do not think xs-stock is trying to cause confusion and they really are just selling excess stock. Maybe if FIA have designers "in house" I could send over a CV...
-
This is the kind of Click Brick I meant. A clear and complete design ripoff...
-
Maybe its just a shared name then. It seems that there is some Click Brick that is a design clone and another that is just a non Lego brand. I got some "Click Brick" once from Poundland and it was a copy of the police car. I will check next time I am in the Entertainer
-
Well, All I have seen in my local The Works (I just love cheap books and ancient comic books) is some Duplo copies. I think they are another name Enlighten trades under. If I spot some regular scaled sets, I will make a review.
-
I'll be creating a quick review of the Princess. Then I will possibly post a large load of random clone pics i own. Added the big one in.
-
Click Brick are a bootleg brand I am afraid. Set designs are taken from other manufacturers and made from cheaper plastic and sold cheaper.
-
Thanks Thrund I will keep a lookout for those (I bought my brother some Best Lock space fighters, so it will be easy to check). I do know that the Red Dragon and Boat is a copy of the 4 Juniors pirate boat. Also the dragons are Beyblade Bit-Beast models... Review will come soon

Why aren't there more UK Lego shops?
Peppermint_M replied to jm28cardiff's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was disappointed that there is no Lego shop in Cardiff, what with it's distance from all the other Lego stores and the new Dewi Sant shopping arcade, all the space in the Queens Arcade (as seen on "Rose" when the Autons attacked!) and the St David's Arcade. Not to mention all the highstreet space... I would love a Lego store in Cardiff...
