I have been playing with my figure collection, some recent Brick Forge purchases and my usual fallback "theme" of Spaceville that I play atound with whenever I am bored. Most of these characters have at least a few lines of personality, story or past and a few have been visitors, pilots or potentials for my MOCs and such. Spot all the parts for kudos

Ninjas in crazy awesome anime do. Jus' saying. It is running on rule of cool, not historical accuracy. Kids are going to eat this stuff up.

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well, I have started watching Batman of the Future (Batman Beyond stateside) and apart from the fact that it is a sequel to a series that ran rampant with canon (a personal bugbear of mine) and therefore is not right I can ignore it with that which is set in the future. I have every episode of JLA and JLU making it's way to me via DVD! And not to rake over coals or whatever, but "energy bending" should have been hinted at, alluded to or even just left as a chekhov's skill where Aang realises he can do this odd form of bending but doesn't develp it further. A massive monster sized lionturtle popping out of the sea and telling our hero about it just before a big fight is a classic deaus ex machina that was a disservice to the series. /nerd rant off. There are barely any cartoons worth watching on TV anymore. I think there is one channel that shows a lot of the older series from the 90s, I'm just waiting for them to play all my old favourites. -
Who will come to Eurobricks Event 2011?
Peppermint_M replied to Ras 74's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Well, the amount of beer you are ordering means that shan't be a problem -
Spinner Packs: Yes Purple Fortress: Yes Small Sets £10 or less: Yes The rest might be a clearance purchase or a parts from BrickLink job.

I need them all for certainly! Thank you City for just being a load of Police again (proud owner of a precinct's worth of officers) and Ninja Go for just being another of those "Cheap sets for parts" themes. My new plan of action is: Get all the sets, seek out the old Adventurer's egypt and then have fun

Little Note: Chaps, I know you are all rather excited, but can the quoted picture posts be limited? The many copies of the images make things rather cluttered. If you do want to quote a post full of images, and are adressing all of the pictures (not just a specific set) could you delete the images? If you want to talk about one set, fine leave the one image, otherwise *snip* them all out 'kay? It is friendly to those with slow browsers and limited bandwidth. Thanks Guys! Now that is out of the way: Looks like the £10 and under sets are now on my list (*peppermint has a long list, it is not quite her fault*) but the larger sets look like a Bricklink for the figures job. Atlantis has the merit of cool parts, but as a theme, underwater just doesn't really grab my attention enough.

The litebley dive suits are a nice touch, they go well with trans yellow. Thanks for posting the full set there prateek. Now I need to go a-searching for how to index this lot. (These are the first new releases since I took the role as regulator )

Six must have sets! Thanks for these handy posts prateek

Thanks prateek! Woot, hi-res images

Maaaan, they got rid of the black army helmet! I am also sure there was at least one lady-fig in the theme, but I can't find her now. This has got to be one of the first times I have seen prelim pics and then been disappointed with the finals! I can safely say, the price points mean I am sure to purchase some sets and figure packs, but otherwise I am disappoint.

Could you post a link? I don't make a habit of reading that site, being UK based and all.
-
/slightly manic/ Ok... If they are being stocked in US now and there will be a Lego Store in Cardiff opening "soon", ergo Pre-Christmas then they are going to stock lots of cool stuff to attract customers away from The Entertainer who are likely to have some kind of price cut due to sudden and real competition in the town center. This means that they will have new and unreleased in the uk before sets which means I can go buy Pharaoh's Quest at the opening /insane troll logic off. Now I just need to see the hi-res pics from TLG.

I have a compartment in my Lego minifig head box full of guys with glasses and these collectable figure heads were just outstanding! I think if I can get hold of a few more vests like that, I will have to build a proper unit with each guy with glasses face I am glad I can showcase the usefullness of some compatible brand products.

Why thank you Hinckley! The reason of this title is a secret

"Turkey of Clone Brands and Soundtracks" Well, I guess that is what happens when you have an avatar of a large shark eating the turkey. Alas, I have been dethroned! Brickthing is to blame for this one
-
Oooh, I think it might need to be moderated or something? The link works fine for me... Glad you like them, I got a lot of the vests, as I bought quite a few £1 bestlock sets for the really cool olive green motorcycles. They also come in brown. The guns are also in black and gunmetal. I hope to get some brown ones later to make a rival unit for a battle scene.

The SpecOp team ready for action, I used a mix of Lego parts, Oxford and Best Lock parts to create these figures. Sorry about the thumbnail, but I can't be bothered to go in and resize then re-load the image /lazypeppy

The clone brands discussion...again
Peppermint_M replied to Superkalle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
*Words that cause peppermint to wake up* Oooo that's a doozy. I agree on the compliment point, but then I argue that my clone brand collection is to compliment my Lego collection. In the end, I buy a set for a cool weapon or minifigure part that TLG doesn't make, I shop on brickforge for a cool weapon or minifigure part that TLG doesn't make. The bottom line is that a custom parts maker is not setting itself up in competition to TLG but a compatable brick brand is. Fans have mixed feelings on custom products but there is a near universal rejection of all clone products (clone is also a term I disagree with) I do not agree with the "no clones but custom parts are ok" rules in contests because there seems to be no rhyme or reason other than many fans have issue with competing brands. An argument for the ages. If a custom producer decides to go turn into a competing brand buy either making or sourcing bricks from a high quality manufacturer, what would the community think? I guess in the end it is all a personal choice and no one has any right to enforce their view on the community as a whole, they can just make it known what their standpoint is and leave it at that (I am a firm believer in seeing all sides to a story and coming to conclusions and opinions after careful research) let others make their judgement. Disclaimer: This is by no means an opinion shared by the Staff of Eurobricks, the members or an other associated hangers on. It is mine. -
That is a very nice MOC. The architecture is impressive and your stylistic choice attractive. Now, here is a tutorial on the simplest method of image re-sizing. So as not to cause browser distress to our members Also, you mentioned having trouble with deeplinking flickr. If you go to the MOC's dedicated page, above the top left corner of the image is a dropdown button marked "Actions", when you click it there is an option for "View all sizes" if you click that it takes you to a page with a number of image sizes to select (I prefer Medium 500 for the forums) choose one that looks a decent size for you and the forum, then you can copy the URL from the address bar and post it in the forums the same way as before.

Well, I have seen a few "outside" corners, where the buildings are facing out in a square, with a large park, garden or square behind them. Corners with only a small amount of frontage are also around, but I have not seen on personally, only in pictures of places I haven't been. The residential sections of old cities are a hodge-podge of buildings have plenty of examples and even "odder" (I suppose, from a colonial point of view) town planning. In the old country we weren't as linear...

More Pictures (once moderated). I am afraid there is no true back photo. I have used the exact same construction for my newer plane apart from a minor cosmetic alteration as it was the finalised version of my imagined MOC.
-
Oh, I never said it looked bad, just it isn't what I wanted. You'll see the actual aim of my MOC when I post it later in the week (pictures need taking). I'll be posting more pictures of this MOC on my brickshelf this evening.

I think this is what British is really. And it is really really funny.

This two man gunship was created by reverse-engineering a classified discovery. Three were built and under multi level security undertook several missions before being retired to secrecy. This was a MOC that was wrong. I was aiming for a similar ship, but not quite as long and with a single pilot, not a two man crew . My haphazard building style meant that when I completed my MOC it ended up like this. It wasn't my idea, but it was too good to tear down without at least a few pictures. Soon the actual skyfighter I was trying to build will be ready for showing, but for now I shall post this one.
