MOC: In Search of the Snake Staff
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That particular head is from one of the K'nex battle sets. I was taken with it's snake-like qualities so I threw it into the useful parts box. -
Updaaate! 2011, the year of action, adventure and an awesome interwar years outfit! Ready to take on any adventure climate. A girl can't be expected to look the same year in year out can she? I just love the new torso from the Pilot and the hairstyle is slighty better suited to the era I was aiming at.

Give me a month or two.. I Still need the three larger sets. My plan currently is the next two sets this month and then the pyramid next. Then off to extend the adventure with Eldorado Quest...

MOC: In Search of the Snake Staff

Checking there isn't any clues about possible curses of course! After all, one has to be careful about grabbing gold objects that are just sat there out in the open... -
MOC: In Search of the Snake Staff
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ah, rumbled, that is one of my collection of not Lego parts that combine very well with Lego. I thought it was well suited to the Snake theme. -
Jake is in search of the Snake Staff of Cobarah IV checking his map just to be sure that this is the right relic, he better watch out for the irate guardian and his slithery helpers! I had to MOC this afternoon, so I whipped up this quick little thig. Enjoy

Discussion: LEGO Action Themes Reviews Index
Peppermint_M replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Aww thanks Fangy, just doing my job! I can't belive that there was three new lots of sets out! Thanks to everyone who have been contributing reviews, you guys and girls keep the index relevant, especially for these themes that are squarely aimed at kids. Here's hoping I get to add more Quest sets to the index later this year -
Thanks for this review, love the bonus pictures I shall index this momentarily.

Lego is out of their minds!
Peppermint_M replied to madoka's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The spinner packs are being set up in direct contest to Bakugan Battle Brawlers (or whatever they are called now) and Beyblade's latest line Metal Fusion. They are £7.50 in shops here in the UK, a comprable (infact cheaper) price to both Bakugan and Beyblade. Pricing like that in packages such as they have, is saying to parents and kids "Hey look, a new cool battle toy!" . The actual traditional box sets are priced the same as any other theme apart from a License. -
The Spinners were also in the Cardiff branch of John Lewis, so they may be in others. There was also a few of the sets to be had, all the Training Outpost sets had sold (there was a pretty noticeable gap on the shelf). I wasn't too bothered as I had already got some sets in the Lego Shop. I wonder if some of this will turn up in the supermarkets? So far I have failed to find them in Tesco or ASDA.

LEGO parts made of Chinese plastic?
Peppermint_M replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Those are bootleg sets attempting to creat confusion between their products and the well known brand products. Like Sonny electronics or Nikee sportswear (two things I have come across in my time) They use similar text and logos to look just enough like the well known brands that someone thinks they are and purchases some. The "cheap chines platic issue" is a certain vocal minority complaining and taking exception to special elements being made in china. They believe that the plastic is of inferior quality or something like that. -
Well, I can assume that "Quest" will be used as the linking factor. Jungle Quest sounds a little plain, so who knows. But why set up a lot of story and character, with such solid design, only to send out one wave and then leave it? I can't really see what sort of extension can be made to a continued quest in Egypt, after all they have collected all the artifacts in this wave. A Jungle is about the only place that will not clash with current themeatic locations.
-
I'm placing my bets on a Jungle based adventure next. Greece might not be used to avoid a clash with Atlantis, but if it is ending this year, maybe the fluted columns will make a return and we'll get a gorgon head . I think I am glad there is a small gap, it means I can get all of this wave, then not feel bad about getting a few Kingdoms sets and Ninja Go in the summer wave and be all saved up and ready once more by the christmas and 2012 waves.

Misprints are annoying but also fun. You have a pretty unique figure when you have a misprint. I have one of the old Life on Mars torsos minus the copper printing, looks pretty snazzy all told. Now, my main question here is: Which sets to get? I think I do want all the ninja, but not from spinner packs, However I am not sure about the vehicle sets...

There is a whole custom seller that does brickguns Here. Last christmas a certain Toronto man caused a SWAT team to be deployed when a nosey neighbour saw him assembling one at his office desk. I'd like to see that Enlighten gun, as a few have been citing it as a legitamate in-house design and not ripped-off from anyone, I myself think it was taken from a custom design by a MOCcer...

How open are you about your Lego passion?
Peppermint_M replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No shame. A friend of mine (although she is 13 years older than me...) was surprised when every weekend I would be in Woolworths picking up another Exo-Force set, as she worked there, I think she became used to it. My friends all know how much of a nerd I am. A boxing day trip to the pub in which my bothersome younger brother came along was surprising for him, upon my announced intention of going to Chicago (a large undertaking, living in Wales and all) for a Lego Convention the reaction was "Awesome!" and "I should come along and film a documentary for my uni course!" (I think he was expecting a negative reaction). As a whole, I am semi worshipped by my youngest brother's friends, my family purchase Lego as a gift and my friends follow my flickr stream for new MOCs. The consensus being that as soon as I move out I should have a mass Lego Playtime instead of a housewarming party . There is no reason for me to hide my Lego addiction, I am a grown woman after all (however much I cringe upon realising that 22 really does count as adult) and I see no issue in a perfectly healthy hobby. I do appreciate however that it is harder for younger members of the community to be accepted by their peer group (been there, done that by 18 it was no longer an issue) but that is a maturity issue and "grows out" eventually (except in the mundanes, but they are just CO2 factories who hardly count anyway). The adage "Each to their own" is best kept in mind. -
Maybe the Power Miners can get quite superstitious? After all, they work deep under the ground where one wrong move can trap you forever or kill you in an instant. Not tempting fate with machine 13 would be a good idea. Oh, and DrNightmare, a string of emoticons does not constitute a reply, can you avoid it in future?

Well, Eurobricks has a standard for reviews, one which even those who are not members of the academy conform to. This is more of an Overview of a set than a review. Or even a collection of quite sharp photos. I can re-title it if you like. Overview or Photography would give the intent of your first post in a much better manner than Review currently does.

New Lego Store opening in Cardiff, UK!
Peppermint_M replied to jm28cardiff's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh well, I went today. All the Pharaoh's Quest was there, all Ninja Go except the spinner packets, new City and new Atlantis. There was also Series 3 figures, new theme keyrings. I can't vouch for Star Wars as I wasn't paying any attention to it. There was also a few reduced in price sets and new (possibly) Creator sets. -
REVIEW: 8803 LEGO Minifigures Series 3
Peppermint_M replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
While I am not buying a box this time (It just gets to costing far too much) I know I will be getting all 16 figures. The Samurai, Snowboarder and the Pilot are fantastic. I can't wait for these to become availiable in my area. Thanks for this comprehensive review Whitefang -
He's done it again! WhiteFang has come to us with a comprehensive review of the Collectable Minifigures Series 3. Click the picture for the review! And, do take your time to answer some of the questions in this poll discussion as well.

Aren't you better off using bricklink for this? I think the only ones in sets now have the new squared hilt.
-
Really, there should be pinned threads at the top of each theme forum, they'll have the names of the next years themes and inside there is discussion on them too. I know there are some in SciFi and Action themes, a healthy discussion in Historic and plenty in Pirates.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Peppermint_M replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
The reapers came because Rose saved her father's life. That was a major alteration to time (it caused the cycle on the street corner, where the events kept occuring to the point he should have been killed) and attracted the attention of the reapers. Holding her baby self allowed them more power as it was a further paradox on top of the first major paradox. In A Christmas Carol, there had not been any super major alteration to time, such as the act of increasing someones lifespan, so he could interact with his younger self without the reapers coming. Now, if the child had stayed much longer, or he had gone into his past for some reason, that probably would have alerted the reapers. -
Review: 2504 Spinjitzu Dojo
Peppermint_M replied to Cardinal Brick's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Well, this was one of the sets I had my eye on but at that price point, it may have fallen down from "Must Get Soon as I can" to "If I want a set that size in the next six months" considering other themes and sets I want more... The Japanese themed parts are always welcome in my MOCs however. Thanks for the review. I wonder what sets await me in Cardiff tomorrow
