Non Lego sets worth AFOL and collector attention
Peppermint_M replied to Faefrost's topic in Community
UK AFOLs might want to look into the Wilco baseplate. They are as long as a BGBP but half as wide and a matching shade of green, great clutch and good quality plastic. I would say they are a grey area, as they are simply baseplates to build off and that is that. They are priced up pretty well too in comparison to LEGO baseplates. -
Adventurers Figure Refresh: The Bad Guys
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Well, I've not really got plans to re-make all the old Action Themes. Adventurer's is a favourite of mine but the Time Cruiser/Twister theme was never in shops when I was small so it never really captured my attention. I wanted to re-work the core Adventure theme idea for a potential future layout and making the figures with newer parts was a side project. Glad youl liked them!- 2 replies

BLOCKS Magazine- Your Thoughts?
Peppermint_M replied to Sir Brickalot's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yeah, read a little but not all. I have to find a moment to sit down and read. I saw it in my local Sainsbury's too, so that was cool. WHSmith's keeps it in their (male) hobby section, I have found locally anyway. If people are having trouble finding it. -
Agents (2008/9) - Villain's Lair
Peppermint_M replied to Xyver's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That has an excellent curve going on! I do think that a bit more to the awning at each side would make it look a little better, great use of seperators for that feature. Are you going to add any dishes or lazer guns? Inferno baddies seemed pretty big on lazers and dishes... -
Hi! That is a nice MOC but I think it would be more at home (and find a wider audience) in Sci Fi, so I'll just move it over there.

Practise Posting Here!
Peppermint_M replied to Pandora's topic in New Member Section - PLEASE READ BEFORE STARTING!
You don't have to practice, this is just a little hidden away place you can try things out before heading to the main forum, that way if you are unused to certain forum software or the style/ettiquette of Eurobricks without looking silly in the main forum for all to see. Kind of like the tutorial zone in online games. We also have answers to a lot of common questions members have in the other thread that are easy to access and easier to find for newbies. -
I am not sure if there is a turorial but before I check: It is simple! If you use the reply box there should be a little icon that looks like a chain link with a + on it. Click it and a prompt box appears, copy the web address you want to link to and paste it into the correct line in the prompt box and hit OK. http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=102678 The link appears. If you want it to be tidier you can write some words to become the link My MOC for example. Highlight them and then hit the icon and paste the address in and hit ok. My MOC If you are using the other editor you can type in the below (with your URL substituted in of course) [url="http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=102678"]http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=102678[/url] Or [url="http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=102678"]My MOC[/url] For one with a tidier name. Hope this helps!

Grumpy moo - the reason for this one isn't a hard guess is it? Hinckley is who I have to thank for this one. *shakes fist*

Jake and Prof. Hale need a vehicle to get around when adventure calls. The Ranger is equipped for all terrain environments and is also road legal. With this work-horse of a car they can reach any site they wish. I do love building cars. Adventure cars are my favourite. While I was building new minifigures for Adventurers and making custom adventurer/explorer figures I decided to smarted Prof. Hale up a little. The entire look is taken from this photo: This is a photograph of Howard Carter at the dig for the tomb of Tutankhamun. (He's the one in the bowler hat, not the fez...) When I found the suit torso I just had to use it, though I can't be sure of colour accuracy!

Adventurers - Sinister family Mansion
Peppermint_M replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Are you planning on building them out of brick at all? All my projects are slowly but surely moving in the direction of some sort of Layout for the Adventure World and all those LDDs of yours would look great if you made them for your own layout.- 6 replies

Scooby-Doo 2015 Rumours & Discussion

Nope. Cobi manufacture, Character commision the sets. I think the figures even be manufactured elsewhere by Character and everything is packaged by Character too.- 1,699 replies

Scooby-Doo 2015 Rumours & Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in LEGO Licensed
It seems strange. Character have had the toy license for a very long time and I am guessing part of what nixed Doctor Who LEGO was the Character Building license. In fact, there are still Scooby Doo construction sets very recently released by Character.- 1,699 replies

Guys, media discussion is in the Culture and Multimedia forum. It is okay when it links directly to a set (such as something taken from the series) but shipping wars and love polygons are not 2015 set rumours! (I mean really! I never expected to find shipping discussion on a LEGO forum that isn't about posting and release dates!) Thanks for the co-operation.

Scooby-Doo 2015 Rumours & Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't know why everyone is jumping on it being a licensed theme if someone is calling it a follow up to Monster Fighters. A Franchise just means LEGO are plannign tie in media products, it would have to be a part of a franchise (Like Batman) to be licensed in any way. If there is evidence that it is not an TLG's own theme I had better move it through to the correct place.- 1,699 replies

I have posted my good guys (with a few exceptions who will turn up in the future) now on to what makes or breaks any story: the bad guys! As a note, these are rebuilds of characters I owned as a child or knew of from the little scraps of story and set pictures in the catalogues. There might be some missing and I will get to those if there is any special request, because the villains of a childhood game leave a bigger impression than something you come across as an adult. As I said in the Good Guys post I have been using the nice new parts, colours and prints to rejuvinate the older characters. These were all posted with MOCs in the A&A forum but here I will post some more of the process information. Each character will link to the original figure or the version I drew ideas from if there was more than one. So, onto the baddies! First and foremost we have the infamous Baron Von Baron. Now, Baron is the name I came across when I had my first figure from the Bi-plane set. In later Adventurers sub themes he was sometimes called Lord Sinister, which was confusing because that was already a character that had appeared! I decided on the look quite easily, the head is an original and a dark bley pith helmet adds a certain menace to the ensemble. Epaulettes in brown becuase all the old white ones are facing dire sun damage and gold looked too OTT. Dressed in smart but high class suit. Baron is a man of wealth and taste, hence the gold hook. The torso is Lucius Malfoy's, but I can't recall which set exactly that came from. Because the Baron has a duelling scar he must be good with a blade, so the new fencing foil replaced the less refined pistol. Sam Sinister (aka "Evil Eyes" aka "Slyboots") always seemed to be a bit of a gangster to me. A bit of a chancer who deals in grey to black market goods, so all the names figured in fine, they were aliases he used to keep the heat off! The hat and head were iconic so I had to use them, there isn't a face print yet that can come close to the right look. The torso is from the Gangster CMF, a tidy suit for a legitimatre businessman is a must after all. The gun is a bit anachronistic, though it looked good on the figure. In my games he was a little inspired by Batman the Animated series' Joker. So always one to carry an unconventional weapon. Alexis Sinister, sister of Sam (from what the official Minifigure and LEGO Book says) was a figure I wanted really badly. Alas she only featured in Dino Island and only in the larger sets, so was beyond my reach. Attempts at creating the figure led to a classy cat burglar kind of character which I attempted to create here. The haircut is one suited to the era I personally set the adventures and the head first appeared in Agents (this head is Clawdette from this combo...) and works as a replacement to the older print. I like the pupils and expressive eyebrows. The torso is Wild West Wyldestyle and was perfect, from the skull choker to the presented figure. She's just as able to slip in to some fancy party and make of with a prized artwork as she is to slip unseen into a tomb or museum for relic theft. The legs are from Space Police, carrying on with the skull theme. Again, the Lone Ranger gun (I just have so many, they are great!) finished off the deadly look. Rudo Villano (or Max to some.) was the jungle bad guy I had. Unfortunately, everything from the head down face terrible wear and print loss. The old hat was the same as Johnny Thunder's but that meant it was a good guy hat! This black fedora replaced it suitably. The face print is my best choice to match. There is the stubble, the angry expression and the scars were just what I needed. It is from the CMF barbarian figure. Next the torso, the old dark grey shirt from the original lent itself to a scruffier look. One again the CMFs came up trumps, the Biker torso paired well with the gunbelt printed legs to make a bad guy jewel runner from the jungle. A machine gun both worked for the character and the MOC. This is a major major change to the actual Adventurers theme. Senor Palomar was the original character. I was unimpressed I'm afraid to say. Thus, Senor E. Palomar took his place. He is a gent, a land or ranch owner. The sort of unexpected bad guy any adventurer might come across; a genial host who takes in the explorer to his fine estate so they might sleep under a roof (and access plumbing) for a night, then the adventurer finds themself shouting "IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM!!" At him as he sails away downriver with a craftily thieved artifact a number of days later. The hat is Lone Ranger's, white as a nod to the original minifig and to the sort of character I had created. The head is from the Space Hero CMF, a print that looked far too smug. The suit is from an old LEGO Movies horro subtheme and a wonderful Lone Ranger gun. These are the figures I have made so far. If you have comments, requests, questions or critique post away!

MOC: Adventurer's Observation Helicopter
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks. I was building it along the lines of the earliest helicopters mixed in with those from the 60s to get a sort of rough-but-tested machine out of a thousand ideas. I dismantled an older MOC and liked part of the cockpit design still so I decided on building this. Steampunk is a little earlier than this, I think Dieselpunk is the accepted one these days. It is grittier, combustion engine powered and full of military aesthetics.- 5 replies

Scooby-Doo 2015 Rumours & Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in LEGO Licensed
I suppose we'll have to wait and see won't we? Depending on how the source got their information, there is plenty of f actors obscuring the actual appearance and theme of the theme. Small or poor prelim pictures, garbled or mistranslated captions. I'll be merging this with the earlier thread. Aaand done, I went with a best fit for the title at the moment. If more information come along with an official name or a better idea of the theme then I will change it again.- 1,699 replies

No problem! As for the flickr video embed... I am afraid I have never ever tried it. If the FAQs do not have anything then maybe there is some other online resource that might help? All I can suggest otherwise is maybe flickr has an option to copy the video BB code to share elsewhere?

Cheers. The front is curved from a couple of plate hinges arrayed to cover the width of the boat hull parts. I am not exactly pleased with the plate at the front, it may be a little over stressed but it worked well and looked good so it will stay.

Please don't upload images to our servers. There are a number of helpful tutorials to post images from outside hosts. The problem you are having is posting the URL too many times buy the looks of things. Try clicking the image uploader icon and pasting http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/PastVPresent/MOC/img_1544.jpg Into the URL box. Then hitting OK. (Exactly what I did to get the above insert). -
Bricklink is your friend there. It should have figures and catalogues in their listings, with prices people sell them at. Also, sorry to be a bore, but we do require correct capitalisation and punctuation for posts. It makes things a little easier for those members who are not native English speakers.
