Which forum does my MOC/topic belong in?
Peppermint_M replied to Stormbringer's topic in Forum Information and Help
There was some discussion in the community section. I am not sure how long ago now. -
Fixed it for you. I have an underscore from webhandles I used a long time ago... But someone kindly engraved a brick badge with this name, underscore and all, so I kept it.

It would be preferable to choose a name for your profile. If only so you remember it. I would update names, but the panel is not working for me currently

Once a moc is posted, we can move the topic to another location, but it cannot be duplicated in another section. -
Could use help finding (an) old, old post(s)
Peppermint_M replied to Battlegorilla's topic in Forum Information and Help
I have asked around a few friends who have been around and involved on EB, certainly active at the time. No answers just yet, but my staff access does let me into a few places I have not searched yet. I would say that Community and Buy Sell Trade could be locations to try. -
Could use help finding (an) old, old post(s)
Peppermint_M replied to Battlegorilla's topic in Forum Information and Help
This one certainly is a really doozy. I would suggest using the filter search, EB doesn't archive things to the point of inaccessibility. The other option is to use Google to search the site. If you have a recollection of any names that would have been involved, you can search a members posts in the full search page. The only posts you would not be able to find would be those in staff sections/exclusive areas. I can try poking through them, but so far I have not pulled much up. (we need a chin scratch emoji) I have been knocking around a fair few years, but I cannot recall such a parts draft to know where to start! -
When you are posting a reply or new thread, an Eyeball icon should be there in the rich text editor. If you click it, a spoiler box is inserted. The spoiler box posts as required.

Why were some sets region specific?
Peppermint_M replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Tyco really did scare TLG in the US market. It has a noticeable feature in the brand museum in Billund and was a major lawsuit for TLG trying to wrest majority control of the Stud'n'Tube brick design. That court case was in fact the first official concession that TLG "borrowed" the Kiddicraft bricks for their own initial designs. Of course, since then it has been ruled that the functional design of the bricks cannot be held onto exclusively so TLG have turned their attention to Minifig instead. So yes, it would make sense that a few "premium" products would be US exclusive to make LEGO seem more appealing over competitors. Something Else that might interest you: Dino 2010 in Europe was Dino Attack in the US, with design changes and different storytelling. The 2010 "treatment" of the story was not popular/did not test well in the US, so they made it more gung-ho. -
That is really cool. I too enjoy the character and it is super great that TLG have brought him back.

Design quirks/hallmarks of 2006-2008 sets?
Peppermint_M replied to jedisquidward's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I can only really suggest that the build style is a little more simplistic, there is more "basic" brick stacking instead of using hinges/clips and SNOT methods and as you mentioned, larger parts like a panel with a window instead of a brick created shape. There has been an influx of AFOLs into TLG over the last decade or so, who design with techniques developed outside of the demands of the company but can have them fit the ideals and principals of a set design. All I can suggest is checking out some older instructions and set photos and brace yourself for a lot of critical comments. That era of sets is still on the periphery of us AFOLs who use forums the most, a Dark Age start for some even. Though, I am feeling aged by your comment of growing up with them. Even though teenaged me was buying LEGO still (no dark age, I was and am a real nerd) so I know the sets and even have some of them, they were not part of my childhood LEGO. Heck, I joined the forum in 2008! -
Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?

As a moderator, it is not a problem to have long posts. Forums are for long posts. This was not a long post, but I wish to assure you that long posts are a-OK. -

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?
Peppermint_M replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yes, yes they do. Take it from a terrible "clone brand" buyer of many years. Some parts won't separate, some brick brands are so loose a connection that they hardly stay together during a build, let alone play. Then you have the "quality" that causes a 2x16 plate to warp if you put a 2x4 brick onto the middle. LEGO are doing some things to count towards their premium status. -

LEGO Ninjago 2024 Rumours and Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to THELEGOBATMAN's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Next time yah start on a new year of theme discussion, could you @ me? I was busty with contest stuff, so didn't catch when it all started leaking/rumouring. That was about a lot posts that needed moving. Also! I see you who didn't post in the new pinned threads even if it was 2024 things! -
Not to mention, most kids do not enjoy a visit to the pharmacy! It is a place you have to go when you are poorly, or have some less critical hurts (In the UK at least, for the most minor ailments the Pharmacist can prescribe or advise products. Think Athletes Foot, very early Conjunctivitis, those horrible little mouth ulcers etc) My childhood memories of them include going to get earache medicine, "over the counter" medicated eyedrops and child-safe doses of paracetamol that I then had to have!! Not appealing play, especially when the hospital/ambulance sets and the Vet sets offer that kind of medical play.

Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?
Peppermint_M replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think it would be more realistic for spiritual successors. Reusing the graphics from the torsos and panels (or dare I say giving them a slight tweak ala the CMF Blacktron figures that combined both styles into one) re-issuing the characters in a new storyline for the theme. As others said, many of the critical moulds are long gone or have passed reintroduction as technology marches on, but in a "neo" approach it is still possible. -
25 Years of Adventure Contest Winners
Peppermint_M replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Honestly? Can TLG pick up on those designs and make us a GWP Adventurers set (at the very least, please thanks.) Loved all the entries from everyone, it all tells me that this contest was worth the effort. -
I will have a muddle about, I am not too concerned as it is all a bit of fun in the end (I am enjoying 20 VIP points a pop from scanning my instructions, a lot more!) I honestly was looking to catch a meme-able moment as I had heard that it was mucking up on a few bricks and saying "Not LEGO system bricks" and I have a handful of Billund Moulding printed bricks that would have been a real laugh out loud moment.

Pro tip Have you planned in where/how the lights run through? It is an extensive nightmare to light a MOC after the fact, hence why I am not one for a lot of lights. I did spot a potential access panel so maybe I am sharing a useless tip! Can't comment on source material, but Sister and Bro in law like it when they saw it so bravo!

Right. That had never worked for me. I get a successful code but no redeem button... Time to try looking again.

LEGO Ninjago 2024 Rumours and Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to THELEGOBATMAN's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
You should see an option on the top right of the post you wish to share. There is a Share icon, Tap that and you can copy the web link to the exact post, pasting it into a new post in this thread. Just let me know if the post you link is an individual that needs to move, or if it is the start point of what should be split off the 2023 thread and put here. I can take posts in bulk or as individuals. If the post is a bit of both 23 and 24, try using MulitQuote (the black + on a post) and when you return to this thread, you have a pop-up in the corner allowing you to quote post(s) in a reply on this thread. Hope all this helps! -
Hurrah, Johnny Thunder and Adventurers is still popular even 25 Years from launch. A true classic theme that deserves the love we pour upon it. LEGO did give it a nod in the 90 Years of Play set and we have been fortunate in a way, to have new Indiana Jones sets this year. At least we get some adventure from LEGO. Is it the story Johnny Thunder had, his friends and foes and the minimal narrative we had to launch playtime with the sets? Or do we love the exotic locales and treasure to be found there? For me, I was the kid who wanted to be an archaeologist but also that book on Egyptology was very exciting. Loved the theme, adored it even and I still enjoy building for it. Full disclosure: I totally wanted to run the contest this Silver Jubilee year so I could get a lot of cool Adventurer MOCs to look at and enjoy. Staff privilege means I can do that and offer prizes as an incentive! While very worthy winners were voted in by you all, I want to share some of my highlights. I try and avoid creating bias during a contest, so now I have a chance to praise things without anyone's toes getting trodden on. First off, a little aside. My favourite graphics I created for this contest had to be the Jungle and Orient Expedition banners and the World Map poster. I am not a graphics expert, or actually even great at it. These came out how I wanted them and I was pretty pleased. On to the actual contest: Thanks so much everyone who entered! 43 entries in total, a really great turnout and lots of neat MOCs for us all to look at. People really embraced the concepts I set out for each category which was fantastic to see; so many excellent interpretations of the theme. A contest is nothing without entries and you really went all out. Our very worthy winners created some superb entries, some of which are gaining traction outside of Eurobricks circles (I was tickled to see a few turn up on my Facebook feed from other sources, with mention of the Eurobricks contest). You three do have a whole thread to celebrate in, but yeah that was some excellent work of the highest quality. Chose a tag! I can apply it to your profile so everyone knows you rock at Adventurer MOCs. I would like to say also to everyone else that your entries are much appreciated and voting must have been a tricky choice for scoring. When a contest is running, I don't want to field accusations of playing favourites or influencing the vote, so I abstain from voting and don't comment on MOC threads with personal opinions. It keeps the peace, but means I can't heap praise on the builds I particularly enjoy. (Thought I do bug my family with links and shoving my phone in their faces to show pictures!). So, take these as honourable mentions: Starting with Category A. The largest of the build sizes to allow scope for all manner of locations and treasures. Space for a narrative to be shared with as many figures as you desire. The showstopper if you will. Builders did not disappoint! I loved this build, the tribespeople have a dynamism that gives us action, the structure is a great looking build with techniques that really speak of an ancient ruin and the rockwork makes the precipice look natural. Thumbs up for the character too, making a recognisable Johnny Thunder out of parts outside of the theme, wonderful! Another Great Adventure, a troupe of explorers hiking well defined terrain, with Himalayan temples and a hot air balloon and I love those! Again, figures made up to suit the theme and the environment using a variety of parts. NPU with the canoe. An enigmatic jungle temple. While a little more greenery would really elevate this, I still love the colours. And finally from Category A: So darn cute! A little and realistic story, Dr Kilroy really does strike me as the kind of single-minded chap who would accidentally bump into an elephant. This made me smile. Category B allowed for a lot of variety also, I like including at least two sizes in a contest so everyone can enter and not feel like they need enormous builds populated with tens of figures. It also meant a chance to explore a specific character and the environment you would expect to find them. After the Haunted Manor set gave us a glimpse at Baron Von Baron's home, it got me thinking about other Adventurer characters. Eye popping colour. A character I personally had as a child and was very pleased to see. Creatures, treasure and a location that combines with the mythology and the actual geography of the region. This sort of creation was what I had hoped the category would garner. A look at a location where someone schemes and plans... Dynamic poses, a story without words and a completely left field but hilarious build I totally wasn't expecting and loved to see. Hurray for a hangar! I am forever saddened by the fact that I cannot own one IRL to kick back at until adventure calls. This was precisely the sort of creation I was looking for as I discussed the concept of the contest with my fellow AFOL little brother. Of the many offices, this one I like for the equal amounts loot and books on the shelves, the wall mounted items and the layout of a large study in which all the ne'er do wells of Adventurers can convene. Finally, another larger scale figure, allowing for lovely details and things to spot in the office room. The models on the shelf, the bug display and the little bumble bee on the plant. Just a nice thing to see. At last we reach Category C. The smallest opportunity to enter for even the littlest ATV or carriage, right up to lovely big efforts thanks to Digital builds. Digital is not always my cup of tea, but this contest has helped get me on side with the whole thing. It isn't so much being a snob, it is more the fact I love the tactile part of LEGO and in the past, rendering has not truly shared the tactile impression of a build, also I keep expecting a few AutoCAD functions when I use the popular software (can you pan? is there a way to pan I keep missing? ). However there were great digital builds entered here. Half-Tracks are the coolest and this one is kitted out for Adventure, everything you could need all in one package. Who doesn't appreciate a sidecar? This is exactly the small but top notch build category C was designed for. A stocked up bike to get ahead of the villains! Superb plane. I love it. Excellent shape, great build techniques/part usage. Really nice. Planes were the first things I ever MOCed and continue to be a personal favourite, so seeing really great planes is fab. Great details, a good vehicle design and lots of fun features. Also, love the camels! Again, all the entries were much appreciated and have much to admire, these were just my personal highlights. I enjoyed coming up with the idea, the graphics and then seeing all the MOCs arrive. Thanks again!
