In YouTube are speculating about the end of yellow heads
Peppermint_M replied to El Garfio's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hey, isn't that the Theranos woman? -
Unfortunately there is not an updated version. That guide was made in 2012... The forum has had a number of changes over the years so it was not viable to keep updating it (as no one really had time!) From your posts, I would say you are doing okay
-
Any specific assistance required? I think it has just been a case that no one thought to go through and update it more than anything!

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

It's not just that particular ship, I mean the artist has a lot of brightly coloured work. That one was just an example. -
In YouTube are speculating about the end of yellow heads
Peppermint_M replied to El Garfio's topic in General LEGO Discussion
A child playing with a figure will identify it according to the expression/features more than anything. A figure with a mustache and glasses might resemble their Uncle, the figure with a big smile is the lady who greets them at the supermarket. The generic yellow tone is a placeholder for their own narrative. -
Massive Wagons are not an act I follow, but I came across this and it was a fun one.

It is to tie in with the advertising on TV/Social Media. We're not getting a Jane Lynch figure (As cool as that would be). The most recent campaign is using actual human actors so the figures would match those actual humans. -

Oof, I think LEGO knows that the massive pushback would cause real problems for them. Youtubers are going to "create" things for views - this sort of speculation would garner a lot of attention! I like the Yellow heads, the fleshtone figures have grown on me over the years, but I still like using simple yellow. A permanent change is unlikely to be on the cards. It would feel like Ferrari marketing cars in colours other than Red! -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Peppermint_M replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
The colours aren't exciting on these, but I might be in a minority for wanting Coral and Neon Yellow. But I LOVE Chris Foss designs. I have a portfolio collection of his artwork, the Terran Trade Authority books and a weakness for weird SciFi paperbacks. So, of course, I plan and build weird shapes with strange colours. -

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Putting this space stuff in City feels like a little extra "Brand Clout", a marketable banner that is recognised on the shelf instead of a random new mini-theme. Dual Branding of LEGO City or LEGO Ninjago gives you a couple of "built in" ( haha pun) story elements so you don't have to spend resources on creating extra narrative to engage kids and purchasing parents. It sets expectations and has advertising already to go in the form of the City Magazine and such. -
Ads disrupting site functions

The ads here help the site stay online, we are not a huge business so the little bit of money the advertising provides pays for software and hosting. -
Does Eurobricks need a "no opinion police" rule?
Peppermint_M replied to danth's topic in Forum Information and Help
That sounds like a solid idea. Especially if the opinion you shared had reasons behind it in the post. We are all allowed to agree to disagree after all! -

Does Eurobricks need a "no opinion police" rule?
Peppermint_M replied to danth's topic in Forum Information and Help
I would suggest a solution, but I don't know how staff could police "opinion policing". For everyone who is piling on to chide a complaint, there is someone who is posting what they genuinely believe to be "discussion" on the line, or they are trying to turn your opinion around. A few do like to go proselytising for their own stance. Then there is the old adage that some stick to "If you can't say anything nice" (and you know how it goes) and will go in to call it out. I sometimes wonder if tone, or language barriers are problems for people also; it is hard to communicate a tone over the web and this is not helped by people's grasp of English (Even native speakers, each generation speaks and is used to their own "language"). There are hundreds of posts a day on the forum and Mods cannot go checking every single one. Reports exist to flag something up as a problem for moderators to look at. Then, someone makes a report on a more terse/harsh post that has been prompted by "opinion police" and there is little time to find out context for it or trace back the initial point that started the argument to see what is going on. The option is to ignore it and things escalate (or produce more reports), do nothing with it and get called out for inaction, or pop a post in to ask people to cool off. I know I have done that, when you are presented with a snapshot of an aggressive or mean toned post it will warrant a "Chill my man" at the least. Sorry, I don't want to be blasé, or dismissive, but it is one of those difficult things. Maybe a "Be Respectful that Other's have Different Opinions to You" note in the guidelines (Modern debate is hamstrung by those who equate disagreement to hate and criticism to bullying after all) but that can backfire too... Just as there are those who seem to post to just grumble, there are those who seem to want to challenge any and all critical posting. -
Mmm, I like it when people use that Nexo shield holder part, and hoses always look good. Lovely spaceship.

Does your Lego ever get damaged by pest?
Peppermint_M replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Tape will degrade and leave residue - That is a warning I can share! In a previous job, I was tasked with archiving a "file room" (It was a weirdly shaped space in an office building that had been given a door to become a room) that had around 30 years of "filing". We were leaving the building and it was to be demolished, so everything in the room had to be repackaged and an actual list of what we had made. (Honestly, I loved doing it) Tape, some of it less than five years old, had degraded and slipped off, leaving a glue residue on the box/file/paper it was applied to. Cling Wrap, for parcels or food safe, would be a good plan if you really want to store long term and sealed up without any damage to boxes. I recall you asking advice on this in the past, so it would be counter productive to use tape. As for the neighbour, do you have Environmental Health services in your country? (Artic is certainly not your true location...) Here in the UK, even a private property that becomes a public health hazard can have action taken against it and I believe some counties in the US would enforce clean-up on a very bad property. -
Ah, welcome to the dark side That is a super cool set, certainly one I would pick up if I had space!

A slightly overwhelmed but enthusiatic Hello!
Peppermint_M replied to SerendipBrick's topic in Hello! My name is...
I hope you enjoy the forum, There are a number of help threads and Staff are always happy to answer questions, so no need to be overwhelmed by the site -
If you look up a head print on Bricklink, you can see all figures it appears on. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=3626cpb2914&in=M Tadaa. He's a Viking too. I recall as a child that my sister and I liked to call the sunglasses head Bob. Of course, there was a percentage of our collection that was called Bob (Or Bobette, if we used a long hair piece). Ah, the games of youth. A fun if odd pass time.

Very kindly, my Dad spotted 60341 - Knockdown Stunt for me, he spotted it for £9 in the shop so picked it up.

I don't see it. I liked the one from City a few years ago, she even had the right outfit. By adding the pith helmet with braided hair from the CMF series, that was perfect as a Pippin Reed.

I think you were reading comments directed to someone else, the one who decided crass language was appropriate. I had asked for this discussion to be concluded, as it was well off the rails on the actual set. Coming onto the forum for 12 reports related to a thread that had gotten out of hand enough to require locking does require a harder response. As such, time to move on. If I was not clear enough earlier: The Printing of the minifig face is now fully discussed and has gone well beyond the actual set discussion. Please refrain from bringing it up and raking it over again. If people must raise it, those posts will be hidden and removed from the thread entirely. Suggestions to help those who will need to change the head are welcome within reason.
