  1. Check out this topic Let us know if it worked
  2. At least I haven't heard of it before. Good find. PS: Next time, please just jolt down the Bricknumber too (87408), so it's easier to find in LDD.
  3. Thanks everyone for the kind words
  4. Excellent point pacc. I'm surprised this have never come up before, since it's such a basic technique This naturally leads to the question: has this technqiue (rotating on hollow stud) ever been used in an official set?
  5. Thanks for those kind words
  6. Only problem with Imageshack is that is doesn't support LXF or Zip-files (I think).
  7. In swedish "Godt" kan also mean "for good", i.e. something that has been terminated or ended forever. Can it also mean the same in Danish? If so, the phrase "Det bedste er ikke for godt" can also become a fun play with words.
  8. I merged this topic with this one: [KEY TOPIC] LDD wish list! Inspired by Ghyde, I also changed the topic title slightly to "[KEY TOPIC] LDD feature requests"
  9. Thanks for this info Aanchir. I'll make sure to pass it on (unless the LDD Developers read it themselves here). Some comments 1) Isn't 50 Phospohrent White also incorrectly placed in the 4.0 palette. I'd rather see it go under Transparent Colors (basically since it isn't a pure solid) 2) I agree completely with the Red and Yello flip/flop. Side note: I'm not certain, but I belive the term flip/flop comees from the pearly shine that these colors have (i.e. it flip/flops between two different shades). 3) Yes, 297 Warm Gold is a certain miss. And I miss the 298 Cool Silver Drum (which is the matt/dull silver metallic used on so many parts). But I also miss the Chrome silver and Chrome gold colors (BrickLink names). Even if the don't render correctly in LDD, it would still be nice to have them to select. On a side note, I'm still bewildered over the difference between 296 Cool Silver and 298 Cool Silver Drum Laquerd. Is it just the painting method used by TLG that differs - I mean, what is Drum laquered? PS: On another note, I think I've managed to decipher 109 PC Black IR. This should be the very dark transparent color that goes on the IR-eye of the Mindstorms remote (PC = Polycarbonate). Sounds right? If so, it shouldn't be in the Solid section, but rather transparent.
  10. Yepp, it could be used in the same way with physcial lego, but has it ever been in an official set? Or is there any other similar part that has been used in a sliding capacity, such as: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=62113 http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=47996
  11. Exactly. So that's why I'm wondering if this technique has been used in any official LEGO set.
  12. I've bumped into this connection that will not work in LDD, i.e. when placing LATTICE 9X13 M (6046) in BRICK 2X2 W/GROOVE A.CR.HOLE (90258) (or similar bricks, all marked red in the image below). The only brick that will allow connection to the LATTICE is 30272 (marked green). Does any one of you know if any of the red bricks has been used in any official set together with 6046 LATTICE (or any similar door/window element with rounded edges)?
  13. And we have a winner.... Please join me in congratulating EB member and Technic guru Zblj for winning the 2010 AFOL LEGO® Technic Challenge. A great achievement, and well deserved by looking at all the great MOCs produced over the year. Read more about the contest here And congratulate Zblj here
  14. Huge congratulations (even though it took me a while to understand )
  15. Well, actually I wasn't. I just didn't see that Zblj had won the contest because I didn't have "show signatures" turned on. Now I do - so my appologies to messiah1 I feel like a moron now. And at the same time a huge congratulations to our Technic Master Zbjl (who also has the most strange user name on EB. Everytime I'm going to write it (like in this post), I just kind of type four random keys, and everytime they come out right - Zbjl (...now THAT was ironic however )
  16. I agree completely. The way it works now is completely un-intuitive. Like when you hit ctrl-z to undo that you hid one brick to many, but then it undoes not the hiding, but the last brick placement. And also the problem that if you save the file while in "hide" mode, it unhides all bricks. Yes, yes. Or at least make the grid less dominant (back to the 2.x version). I guess the current group function was really easy to implement, that's why they did it like it is. Also, with lockable groups you have this issue of handling what to do if you want to add more bricks to the group. It can quickly become complicated. I'm not saying it's unsolveable, just that it requires some more thinking.
  17. Yeah, that was a bit off topic (actually both your questions ) The Technic Challenge I have not clue about, try posting in the Technic forum. About large signature I couldn't agree more - there is a topic about it here. What Ie ended up doing is turning the signatures off. But I'm going to turn them on again, so I can have a look again and chase down the worst offenders.
  18. I'm not expert, but it looks like this technique is indeed real-time rendered. Anyayw, I guess it will be some time before we see this technique in LDD. Info NVidia CUDA Zone Some clip
  19. It actually didn't take so much time in the in the end. I got a few files from some of our most notorius Set-builders (thanks guys) and the rest I managed to batch download the LXF-files from Brickshelf accounts. Then I just imported them in LDD Manager and wrote some queries. But to be honest, yes I did put in quite a few hours. I know much of this statistics is available from BrickLink, at least for colors. But, that data includes a whole bunch of old sets, Scala, Belville etc, and I wanted something relevant for us LDD users. Personally I think it's kind of intresting to note that only about 6-7 colors make up the vast majority of colors used building sets. A "quick palette" would certainly save a lot of time. The 800+ files take up 25Mb disk space.
  20. So, I downloaded just about every LXF in the "Official Sets" topic. Then I added a whole bunch of other models I've either downloaded or done myself over the years. 21. Can you explain b) at bit more - how do you mean?
  22. Well, LDD 5.0 is up next, not 6.0 And when it will be released? Well, if they keep churning out versions like they've done in the past (about once a year), I guess 5.0 should arrive sometime in the fall of 2011. But let's hope for a 4.x version before that, like happened when 3.1 was released
  23. Thanks for letting me know And you're right, it just a matter of using the qoutes right in the SQL statement.
  24. Sorry, not sure I understood that Anyway, did you try my method and did you get it to work too? I stumbled on it by accident while looking at your model.
  25. Strangely enough I managed to attach the peg by doing like this: 1) Remove the wheel 2) Remove one of the black 3176 COUPLING PLATE 3) Place the technic peg (it will connect to the remaining 3176) 4) Put back the other 3176 COUPLING PLATE (notice how the technic pge now connects to both plates) 5) Place the wheel 6) Done I have now clue why it will work when done in this "reversed" order, but it does.
