  1. Thanks for sharing
  2. Glad it worked. Make sure you upgrade your graphics card drivers. Then it might be possible to turn it back on.
  3. Check out the FAQ section here. Try it out and post here if it worked. (PS: Like Zbjl said - when you uninstall LDD, the preferences.ini file is left, so even after installing again, you are effectivlty using the "old" preferences.ini) EDIT: I guess in your case (since LDD isn't quiting on you direct at start up) - you could just go Edit > Preferences and uncheck the "High quality rendering of bricks on the scene".
  4. I have no clue why the minifigures parts were removed - my personal guess is that the collectible minifigs aren't part of the "normal assortment". And the only part I know about is the cylinder, since I only asked about that. About flex, I don't know anymore then was in the interview article, i.e. they will add more along the way. I hope soon.
  5. EB is an AFOL forum (Adult fans of LEGO), something you were informed about when you signed up. Three reasons why I picked up on your post: 1) Missing proper capitalisation 2) General complaning tone - you are missing to explanin which parts you are missing (which makes it difficult for to help you) 3) You are posting in the wrong topic - look around the LDD forum and you'll find a topic about wanted parts in LDD
  6. You have sharp eyes, Prateek! It looks like you are right looking at the side view below. However, I don't have the physcial helemet so I can't compare. Can anyone confirm that the LDD helmet sits to high comparted to the real deal?
  7. I'm not sure 2) is illegal - as long as a brick can be fitted nicely into another without bending or excerting too much stress, it's legal. I was just wondering if it has been used in an official set out of curiosity.
  8. Well, the list I sent was before LDD 4 was released. However, it seems that the addition of parts is not based on LDD releases, but instead on internal needs, and after that they just add them in some order I don't know about. So the bricks that made it in the LDD 4 release was simply the bricks that they had ready at that time. However, I do think that the list we fans created this spring had some impact on parts that were added. But I know only modern/current parts are even concidered at the Dev team at the moment, so that's why I think we should only hope for those being added. You can also read more in this interview about how TLG reasons when it comes to adding parts. At the moment, these are the parts that are still to be added from the last list I sent: 64178 Technic, Liftarm 5 x 11 Open Center Frame Thick 64179 Technic, Liftarm 5 x 7 Open Center Thick 64645 Boat Hull Brick 16 x 10 x 3 64651 Boat Hull Brick 16 x 13 x 2 85489 Train Wheel RC Train, Spoked with Technic Axle Hole(Flanged Driver) As you can see, these are really key parts for Pirate, Technic and Train fans. The cylinder block that is missing I know is allready added, so we don't need to wish for that. It will be included in the next release (whenever that is). So, in all honsty, if we shall wish some parts to be added quicker then they otherwise would, they have to be current parts that are really important or common.
  9. I assume we're talking about 61189? Can you post a pic?
  10. Well, actually, the 30359 is a aystem element, not a Technics, and that's why it will connect to there, just as a 1x1 cone will connect to any system hole. The background to this whole thing is like this: Generally, Technic holes are not supposed to accept a stud, because the Technic hole is slightly tighter then a system hole, and therefore it will be more difficult for children to take them apart. For this reason, the LDD developers made a general rule and blocked the possibility to attach studs to Technic holes in LDD. However, partly due to all the issues we fans found here in the LDD forum where we found that many official sets have actually used this technique, they have manually adjusted for some bricks so they can attach to Technic Holes. These include the 1x1 round brick, the 1x1 round plate and a few more. The 1x1 cone has not yet been adjusted, as has not the 30367 2x2 dome to name an example, but these may hopefully be fixed in the future (when and if I have no clue about). So the explantation is not more complicated then that actually. OK, next thing is the 1x1 cone. As you can see in LDD there are three versions. Two of them without a flange at the top and one with (59990). The flange has been added by TLG due to the fact we've been discussin here, namely to make a clear stop. The two without flange are the older ones and will be phased out in the coming years.
  11. Interesting points guys. @Aanchir, I see your point about defining what is "old colors". I guess I was thinking colors that haven't been used the past 5 years (or something like that). The reason is twofold: 1) avoid the most common colors (mixing old greys and brown with the new ones) and 2) make the list of colors small. I guess one could put the question like this: Which colors ought to have their own swatches "up front" and which can be burried one level down (i.e. used less frequently). I've been playing with this concept of a color circle, with the most important colors in the center. So far only solid colors, but it looks something like this:
  12. About 2), Out of curiosity - is this a technique that is used in any official set or otherwise (i.e. that the gear slides intoe the two other bricks?)
  13. Hi there Welcome to the LDD forum. I see Brickdoctor has anwered a few questions. Let's see if any of our other gurus here at the forum can help out with the rest.
  14. TLG is continuing their DbM contests. Prices are usually a unique set desinged by one of the TLG designers. Check it out here. And if any of you LDD Forum people ever win, be sure to let the rest of us know
  15. OK everyone. I think the Color palette in LDD 4.0 is really bad. First it mixes old and new colors, as well as colors that aren't even used for bricks (at least so it seems). Then it's annoying that very common colors such as Black, doesn't have it's own color swatch. And to top it off, it's a nuicance to have to click first on the Bucket icon, then on the color swatch and THEN on the color. It should be faster to reach the color palette. So, how should it work instead. What kind of setup do we want for future versions of LDD? What colors would be good to have "shortcuts to", and which should be in the "expand" window? To start off with, below is one idea of new layout I've been playing around with. But is it too lame, do we need a more radical change in coloring feature?
  16. And voila, that's how easy it was. Thanks for explaning
  17. Hope you don't mind me saying so, but that is actually kind of funny. That would be a great feature in LDD - to randomly remove pieces and if you dont' notice them, you probably don't need them On the problem, I can come to think of two different methods: 1) Do a file compare between the old file, and the new that has a piece missing. This can be done for example by using the free WinDiff (from Microsoft). To do this, first unzip the LXFML files from the LXF-files. Then run Windiff and chose File Compare. The differences will be highlighted. 2) Import the files into LDD Manager. Then export both part lists to Excel (there is button to do that in LDD Manager) and then compare the list of parts by pasting them next to each other. EDIT: saw that Aanchir also tipped about the DumpedBricks file. It's a good solution to, but it can be problematic, because sometimes I think the brick that is removed is actually not kept in DumpedBricks file.
  18. Thanks for checking. I was also thinking a little bit if you insert a 1x1 tile. But the a 3.2 mm bar will not connect in the hole I suppose then, but slide through it.
  19. Good point. I don't think the LDD guys can add that kind of connectivity per se, but you are right, at least they could make the hole big enugh to manually put in. Speaking about the camera. With physcial bricks are you supposed to be able to insert a 3.2 mm bar into the lens to push a tile out?
  20. Welcome to the LDD forum. But I advise you to go easy on the language style and emoticons. This is a forum for AFOLs (adult fans of LEGO), which you were informed about when you signed up. So please bear that in mind when posting!
  21. Which accessories can't attch to the hand or feet? I don't see the problem. Speaking of the monkey. I notice the curved tail does not have a connectivity. Does anyone know if the tail is supposed to grip a 3.2 mm bar (has it been used in an set)?
  22. The first error is nothing worring. However, that the database is read only is more worrying. I'm not sure where and which program it says "Save As". Is it when you try to unzip it or when you try to run LDD Manager? In any case, the LDD Manager files needs to be put in a folder where you as a user have right to read and write (i.e. have full admin rights). Also, you need to make sure that the MDB-file is not "read-only". Right-click the MDB-file and look under Properties. Uncheck the "Read-only" tag. Let me know how it works out.
  23. It was enriching to read your alterantive point of view. Great post.
  24. Hi Noam Does it work once you get past that error? (i.e. can you import models)?
  25. Wow, that connection between the seats is really special. I've never seen anything like it before.
