[KEY TOPIC] Wanted bricks in LDD
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi all I've been spending some time looking through this thread and trying to compile a list of parts wanted by us. I've tried to pick the most important (and that are fairly new, i.e. reasonable chance they will be added). What do you guys say. Does it look good? And what about the last one (16 tooth reinforced). What do you Technic gurus say - is it important enough to be on the list? Most_Wanted_Bricks_January2011_EB.doc -
ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?
Superkalle replied to jngunsw's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Cleaning off old sticker residue can be done with chemicaly purified gasoline (Not sure about the english trade name). Does not affect the ABS plastic at all and is normally intended for stain removal and cleaning of adhesives, chewing gum etc. You should be able to get small bottles from the chemists. Have used it for years. -
LDD doesn't start
Superkalle replied to Commander_Rob's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Just to make 100% sure 1) You have followed the info here 2) You have between each uninstall/install of LDD deleted all the info the the two folders C:\program files\LEGO...LDD and either C:\Users\UserName\Roaming...LEGO...LDD or C:\Docs and settings\UserName....(depending on OS)? Right? And still doesn't work. EDIT: Our member Bojan mailed me something he found: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=77256 Could be something? -
Excellent review! I've only built the jet, and my only complaint is the tail wings. They should have been fixed with another pair of technic pegs + plate. My son who's playing with it goes totaly mad about the rear wings getting out of line all the time. In the end I had no choice but to add extra pegs+plates. I guess I'm only writing this becuase the 5892 is mainly supposed to be a childrens toy. Besides that little remark this is TLG's best jet ever. Good job Jamie and colleagues in the creator team!

LDD doesn't start
Superkalle replied to Commander_Rob's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Well, it seems you are using the most recent drivers, and I can't see anything problematic in the computer spec. One last thing, perhaps you can try to upgrade to the latest DirectX drivers. If I don't recall incorrectly, I think that helped another user. It's a long shot, but it's worth a try. If that doesn't work, I don't know what the problem can be. It's very, very strange that LDD will not run correctly with the latest drivers, but will run with older drivers. Does anyone here on the forum know what the problem can be? -
VOTING THREAD: The best LEGO sailing ships (minifig illusion scale)
Superkalle replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Pirates
Let me first say - absolutetly amazing entries - all through. It was a long time since I saw a contest with such ultra high quality builds. Congrats to the organizers and the builders! And now, without further a due, here are the votes from the Swedish admiralty: 9. Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion - 3 points. Something new, something different, wonderfully excuted with great proportions and superb rigging. A masterpiece. 11. Le Sang Royale - 2 points Impossible not to award points to. The rigging, the size, the details - the list goes on. A truly fantastic build. 17. Tornado of Souls - 2 points Great to see a ship that only uses Lego throughout, and done in such good way. This must naturally be commened. -

Could you provide some more detailed specs of your computer (brand, operating system, specs, graphics card manufacturer). Also what graphics card driver version you are using would be good (you can use the ATI Catalyst Control Center on your computer to find those). Also, where did you download the drivers from? Did you go directly to http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx ? -

It does seems that the problems is connected to the graphics card then? What puzzles me is that LDD shuts down so quickly (after only a few seconds of showing the hourglass). Can you enter the following in the preferences.ini and try to start LDD again: CompatibilityModeLevel=100 (Note: you must exit LDD first, then edit the ini-file, and then re-start LDD) -

Hi Commander Welcome to the LDD forum. Regarding your problem, try this and see if it works (specially "Part2). -

Well, I'm adding the frame to the "highly wanted" pieces list -
My bad about 5) - Looking at the inventory for 8654 at BrickLink I see it should be the LDD color 111-Transparent Brown. A good lookup-table to convert BrickLink to LEGO colors can be found here. About 4) It seems the error is in 76385. You could probably cheat by temporily placing the roof without using the hinges (using some scafolding), and then put the 76385 in place last.

Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Interesting. The glass you mention that is in LDD, is it supposed to go some other element in LDD or is it just lonely ? -
A workaround to opening the roof is to remove one of the Technic pegs, open the roof, and replace the peg - but maybe you allready noticed that. Still I'm wondering why the roof will not open with both pegs in. Anyone else who can figure this "bug" out? Regarding the model, I spotted a few errors: 1) The gray color you are using is 2 - Grey, which is the old LEGO gray. You should be using the new 194 Medium Stone Grey (aka Light Bluish Grey in BL) 2) The front wheels of the truck should have two 32123 1/2 BUSH in them. 3) I belive the two 1x2 tiles rear of the turning plate should be Dark Bluish Gray, not black 4) There are two 1x2 red tiles missing in the truck cab (near the roof) A general tip is to always run a finished model in LDD Manager, and you'll be able to trap maybe some more errors. For example, I managed to spot also 5) 2447 in Milky White (should probably be plain white?) 6) In a few places you've used 3066 1x4 brick without center pins. This brick is only used for transparent colors. In the Brick palette in LDD, you need to chose the first of the two 1x4 bricks to get the right one. Anyway, you made a relly good attempt with your first model - so welcome to the gang of LDD Builders PS: You can also use LDD Manager to create a LXF-file with all the parts in the right colors, making it easier to recreate sets i LDD. ASK HERE How to clean your LEGO sets/parts?

@jngunsw: Please use full words when writing in the forum. It just looks so much better if you're not writing ppl, hv, n, etc. Thanks! -
Hi Welcome to the LDD Forum No, not all bricks are included. At the momenthere are about 2000 elements (as LEGO calls them). I would say that in total there are about 4000 elements in the LEGO catalog. However, the 2000 elements that are in LDD are the most important and cover about 99,5% of all recently released LEGO models. Regarding the relationships, we need to first clarify what the numbers are: DesignID (e.g. 3001) - the mold/geometry of a part (called ITEMID at BL) MaterialID(e.g. 5) - the color/material (called ColorID at BL) ElementID (e.g. 4239601) - a certain DesignID in a certain MaterialID (BrickLink calls this Part Color Code) What I guess you are refering is if there is any translation between an ElementID and a DesignID. The first method (and easiest to use) is the one at BrickLink.com. Simply enter the ElementID in the search window and it will give you the ITEMID (which is most often identical to the DesignID). Not many people know of this feature, but there you go. PS: You can also download the entire lookup table from BrickLink to store on your local computer. A second (but much smaller) lookup table is the one that can be extracted from DbM mode in LDD. I'll include that in the next version of LDD Manager (along with the BrickLink one). Please note that neither of the above lists are complete (but the BL one is the most complete). A third way, which is 100% complete, but also the slowest, is to write or phone the LEGO customer support and ask they will help you directly from the huge LEGO database of elements. PS: The Ferrari ElementID you were looking for is 50373

Happy New Year from Eurobricks!
Superkalle replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
Happy new year everyone. It's been a great 2010. I'm having lasagna for New Years supper. -
Happy New Year to all you LDD users! 2010 was especially good for us LDD fans. Somehow I'd like to think it was the year it all started for real. First we had the unveiling of LDD LU Mode in April. Then in May the LDD Forum was created after we had crowded the "General Lego"-topic for too long . In the summer the LDD Design Contest was run and then in October we got LDD 4.0 with some long awaited features. And let's not forget the worlds first LDD community build in November. A pretty good year indeed! I had a look at the statistics for the forum. The first "reading" was done in June. The LDD forum then had 1.000 posts, 67.000 views and 84 official sets done in LDD. Now, 6 months later, it's December 31st and the figures are 5.300 Posts, 500.000 views and 900 official sets. And imagine - it's all of us, simple LDD geeks, that created this! Soon we shall rule the world So, what's in store for 2011? Well, we'll definitely run a couple of contests. At least one major one, and hopefully a bunch of smaller ones. And maybe a new RCB community build? Regarding LDD itself, hopefully there will be a 4.x update with all the bug fixes we've reported. Maybe also even LDD 5.0? Let's hope for the best. New Years contest OK, to finish this year off in grand style, let's do super-small contest. The mission: Create something "New Years" themed in LDD, any size you want, and post it in this topic before January 9th (with our without the LXF). It can be anything - fireworks, a party vignette, a bottle of bubbly, a 2011 vision. Whatever. First prize is a polybag or keychain. Judging will be done completely biased by me and Calabar

Great job on the ferries guys! Those ships are actually my favorite LEGO-"theme". Got most of them lined up on a shelf in the room I'm in now. And funilly enough, I had too done at least a few of them in LDD, but never got around to posting (and here's a modern ferry I did last year. Naturally designed in LDD first before turning to the real stuff).
