  1. Ah, OK, then I got you. So then it may very well be like you say since the DbM palettets etc are not goverened by the brick version. In any case, well spotted about the DbM-palette.
  2. I'm a purist. And proud of it. It's like you say Saber, if you start cutting, glueing etc, what's the point in using Lego at all. Why not take the full leap and move onto clay, balsa wood or any material. There's nothing worse than seeing a thumbnail of a MOC and you get that "wow"-feeling, but then when you zoom in you start seeing all kinds of cheating, and you feel you've been robbed of the candy.
  3. REMINDER! Only two weeks to go now for the first Lego Digital Designer Contest here at Eurobricks. The Prize table is pretty massive, or what do you think of: Falling Water, Star Wars Rebel Trooper Battle Pack, the huge Imperial Flagship, Chrome Stormtrooper and Emerald Night. And on top of that there's a Silly Surprise Prize, the Best-in-Show Award and a unique Secret Prize. The idea of the contest is to encourage the use of LDD as support tool during the design process, so jump in an give it a go. Read here about the contest and the rules
  4. The "brick version" tells you the version of the DB.LIF-file, which has the geometrices and rules for all the bricks. I'm not sure if your update was really an update, but at least there were no new bricks since 114.3 is the same version that was released a couple of months ago.
  5. Regarding legal or not, yes, this building principle was allowed many years ago, but is not any longer. One way to come to this conclusion is to look at the underside of the new macaroni brick with the bracing, as this will not allow "half-placement". One of the reasons the building technique is no longer approved is because there is no distinct placement experience. If you can slide bricks on studs, then you have ambiguity, and that's generally a no-no. However, there is a work-around in LDD. You don't get 45 degree off-set, but at least it's something (download LXF below). Macaroni-cirkel-test.zip
  6. What's the BrickVersion after the update (Help > About)? The one I have is 114.3
  7. Yes, you have to count them all No, seriously, there are two ways to find out the brick count: 1) In LDD, generate a HTML Building Instruction. It will tell you the brick count. 2) Download LDD Manager and import the LXF-file (plus that LDD Manager has other features as well, such as checking if a brick has been produced in a certain color).
  8. Hi LadyVargas Welcome to Eurobricks. I sure hope we can lure you into staying here at the site also after selling the bricks
  9. Welcome to Eurobricks! Hope you're going to enjoy it here among peers!
  10. Hi You're more than welcome to EB. Hope you will like it here among peers!
  11. Just read that the application time for the Product Designer job was extended another Mont until end of July. I guess until now, TLG must have gotten only a zillion applications for this dream job. And now they extend the time so they can get another zillion Reminds me of a classic story: A company had a job advert in the paper and got a huge amount of applications for a job - too many to handle. So the HR-manager simply took half of the applications and put them straight in the wastebasket. "The ones who ended up there had bad luck, and we don't need people with bad luck in our company"
  12. Most of the time it's video driver problems, but not sure about this case. I'll add on to Prateeks list: - Dell Inspiron yes, what what Model name and year of manufacture? - Graphics card chip manufacturer, driver version and when did you last update the drivers? - LDD Version you're trying to install. - Windows 7 yes, but what version (32 bit, home, professional?) And if you could be more specific about the problem: what do you mean "LDD keeps on loading over and over again"?
  13. Must have missed that. sorry. The only reason I can see that it's added is because it synchronized the two Technic pins so both move at the same time. However, I don't know if that matters on this model.
  14. Well, as a general rule, if a method is in a Lego set that was released in the last 4-5 years or so, it's legal. So as far as I can tell, placing the yellow rod should be possible. I'll report this as a Brick-error to the LDD Team.
  15. You're right, but I think it was good that dluders posted it here too and pointed out the possibility to send in a LDD model. Too bad it's only for the US.
  16. You're absolutely right that the whole point is to show how LDD can be used to develop your design ideas. However, to make it easy to judge and the same for all, the real model and the LDD model should be the same. However, a question - can't you just modify the LDD file to reflect the final physcial model? Well, you can disregard the stability, but the idea about having to upload the LXF-file is that the people who will vote will have the possibilty to download the LXF and see how well constructed the design is. So I guess it's up to the voters to judge your design, whichever method you decide to use. The fact that you can actually see and judge the inside construction of a LEGO model is the first time ever (that I know of) that this idea has been used on any LEGO contest. I'm assuming you mean differential gears. There are some possibilties - you can for example use some similar parts to illustrate that it is a differential. Or you could leave it out completely.
  17. You're right - Minifigs and all their subparts (head, torso etc) are extra. I.e. yo can use 2500 parts and ontop of that you can add 50 minifigures.
  18. I gottcha. This is a boardline case, but OK you are allowed to use the 2x4, 6x6 etc to reduce your brick count, but only if those tiles (2x4, 6x6 etc) exist in the color you want to use.
  19. Hi Bojan Just to fully understand your question, which class do you intend to compete in "LDD Only" or "LDD + Real Bricks", or both?
  20. Hi Luca Welcome to Eurobricks! Hope you will like it here. If you study materials engineering, maybe you study polymers too? Handy, since ABS is all that we play with PS: I haven't seen that Mona Lisa minifig before. Cool.
  21. Well, in that case you might have something going here Shroud I like the way you used those whips.
  22. @Randal - Nice looking stuff Two minor things: Regarding space sets, could you please post LDD screenshots instead of set photos, just for the conformity. And can you also please post the links to the LXF seprately instead of embedding with images. Makes a bit clearer. Thanks! (EDIT: The reds in this model should actually be Dark Red) @Prateek - good find with that brick that will not accept technic pins. Concider it reported to Lego.
  23. In this case LEGO is actually interested in a wide assortment of starter models in various categories (as is actually stated in their press release above if you read it carefully ) Regarding the model Shroud, I'm not sure the model will hold together if you build it with physical bricks (I'm thinking of the two long bars that meet under the Minifigs feet. They only hold on with a single stud there).
  24. No, not really, since it's so easy in LDD to use old gray instead. See here how to use old gray (or any other color) in LDD.
