Vector racer
Superkalle replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Like mentioned above, these wheel should be called Mechanum wheels, not Omni-wheels. Omni-wheels have their perfirically rollers mounted perpendicular, whereas a Mecanum wheel has them at around 45 degrees (which enables them go sideways mounted in front/rear pairs). Seems also the Mechanum wheel as invented by a Swede. Isn't that nice -
DbM Contest prize
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Naturally you're right, it's not ultra rare in the traditional sense, but still -
Just spotted that the DbM Halloween contest that's been running the past month is now closed and voting is about to start. Prizes include this ultra, ultra, ultra rare LEGO set Designed by TLG legendary designer Steen Sig Andersen. And naturally 100% in LDD

New part in the latest Power Miners set?

Thanks! I guess you learn something new every day -

I agree - removed bricks is a nuicance, but I would categorise this as Major actually. But do we have any known cases where this happens? My memory is bit vague. I know it can happen in a few odd times where you've been moved brick around lots of times and somehow a brick gets placed "out of tolerance", but what about cases where you start a new file from scratch and just connect bricks?

LDD on PC or Mac?
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
No prob -
G'day headlessroland. Good spottin - haven't seen that before! It's seems like a typical collision volume bug. It can be serious, because it may allow incorrect brick placement. Since we're chatting away (or at least I am ) here is, as a general reference, the severity categorisation for LDD brick bugs that I've used so far (please feel free to comment you all!) 1) Critical - the use of the brick will crash LDD or otherwise severerly cripple usage. Extremely rare - I think we've ever had one or two here at the LDD forum. 2) Major - You can't use a brick in LDD as intended because of geometry restrictions or lack of connectivity. This will hinder your ability to place bricks as you can with physical bricks*. It can also include incorrectly placed decorations that practically ruin the use of a brick. Example include the Road baseplates in LDD 3. 3) Minor - You can place a brick in LDD like it's not allowed to be placed with real bricks. For example, bricks may overlap into each other or there is some connectivity in LDD that doesn't work or exist with real bricks. 4) Cosmetic - Cosmetic errors, like small glitches in decorations, poor LOD (level of detail) in the brick etc or glitches in the bricks visualisation on screen. Sometimes a bug can be raised a notch if it's a very common brick or connection. *) Sometimes LDD will not support a connection because they are seen as illegal by TLG. In this case it's not categorised as a bug.

Hi there! Welcome to the LDD forum. And good job on those models! A tip is that you create a BrickShelf or MOCpages account and upload the files there and then link to your post. You can only attach up to a total of 100kb of files to your EB account.

Well, I do understand you. The color palette in LDD3 sucks badly. That's why I propose to import the file into LDD Manager, because it can give a summary of the colors in your model and you can then quickly compare against BrickLink and see if you're on the right track. So, why are we so picky about using the right color (and parts) you may ask? Well, I don't know what the rest of you guys say, but personally I think these re-created sets in LDD is a fantastic asset that can be used for plenty good. E.g. mod sets and then order the parts from BrickLink. Or you can use them to check for those extra parts you found after you completed the build of the physcial model. Or....well I guess there can be many uses. Hopefully, possibly, likely (chose) - there will be a better color palette in LDD4, and then we can say goodbye to the color guessing game! And to finish off with - fantastic job on doing the sets in the first place You're making the world a better place

[Software] LDD Manager
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
To start with, some terms: DesignID (e.g. 3001) - the mold/geometry of a part (called ITEMID at BL) MaterialID(e.g. 5) - the color/material (called ColorID at BL) ElementID (e.g. 4239601) - a certain DesignID in a certain MaterialID (BrickLink calls this Part Color Code) LDD Manager does not use ElementID at all, simply because it's not needed, and for some parts, the ElementID may not be known. LDD Manager simply converts LEGO DesignID and MaterialID in a LXF-file to BrickLink ITEMID and ColorID and those two are the only pieces of information that are needed to unqiuely point out a certain Element. I convert to BL terms for two reasons: 1) the BL terms are more commonly known and accepted and 2) When uploading to BrickLink I need the BrickLink ID's anyway. So how does the "Check color"-notification work in LDD. Well, I don't use the ElementID's (even though you can download a file with those from BrickLink). Instread I use a more accurate and detailed method. At development time, I download the html-pages and parse all available colors for all parts that are in LDD. (My friend Bojan helped me with the code for that). From this I make a lookup table with "known" colors and "Lots for sale". I do this because sometimes a brick may exist in large quanties in color that that was never released in an official set (and thus the ElementID may not be known). If I'm uncertain if a colors has been produced, then you get "Check color" message in LDD Manager. You can then double click the DesignID in LDD Manager and get info directly from BrickLink. -
OK, once again we have two models - the Tower Bridge - which is an excellent opportunity to do some comparative checking Issues in Yellost model: - In several places you have used the color 212 Light Royal Blue instead of 102 Medium Blue - You've used Color 139 Copper instead of Color 297 Warm Gold - The Minifig shield on the top of the bridge should be Light Bley - There's supposed to be many Reddish Brown bricks, but I can't find any - I think you may have used Dark Red instead. - You've haven't used Red in the four 1x1 round plates at the ends of the bridge. There may be more errors, please use LDD Manager to check colors and match them again the inventory at BrickLink. Sorry for being so tought on you , but we strive for excellence, right Build/brick errors: Haven't looked yet. Issue in ADHO15's model: No color issues that I could find Build/brick errors: Haven't looked yet. Only comment maybe that the "pointing right out" cables don't look so good.

I think you can take it No, but seriouly if it's a LDD bug that is so devestating that it crashed the OS, then I suppose it needs to reported.

The 8x8 is also reported. And fixed so that it accepts studs from what I heard. Regarding the cable, I was thinking more to make the them "hanging" in a more approximate fashion, i.e. no need to connect them to the lower cable attachments. Just to make the model look a bit better.

My Lunch Break LDD MOC: Hideaway Island
Superkalle replied to coupi's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Yes, please do PS: Nice looking MOC -
Fantastic work! The bug with the micro-vehicle wheels have been reported to the LDD team earlier and should be fixed in LDD4. The fence thing I'll report now PS: Is there any reason why you didn't flex the cables/wires so they don't point right out?

First sneek peak at LDD 4.0
Superkalle replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks Claus! And welcome to the LDD forum at Eurobricks -
Once again - a fantastic project. And by far the largest LDD MOC ever. You are hereby the official LDDULSMD champ - Lego Digital Designer Ultra Large Scale MOC Designer I guess I only have one tiny, humble comment. I was wondering about the Café Corner sets. Since everything else is your own creations, is there a reason why those official sets are in there?
