  1. That is pretty much my question - and my hope was that someone has allready done something like that Thanks Fugazi - interesting site, specially when switching to dutch (which is understandable for a Swede). However, the site seems to focus mostly on LEGO up until the 70's or 80's.
  2. I have this problem. At one time I de-parted a whole bunch of sets form various time periods (about 1990 and forward). Now I need to rebuild them, but I'd like to rebuild them with the "right" parts from the same time period so that the finished set doesn't look like a patchwork of old and new bricks. I should mention that I'm aware that TLG have mixed bricks of the same type and color in their sets, so that you at some points would get both "new" and "old" bricks in the same set, but generally, how can I determine which year(s) certain bricks were made? I know that older pieces have a denser plastic/color then the new ones which are more translucent. Also colors have changed ever so slightly over the years, with modern bricks having more vibrant colors, and molds on some bricks have changed slightly also. But the question is WHEN did all these changes occur, i.e. how can I determine roughly which year a brick was made? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
  3. No, I didn't mean if it was scaled like that, more if the proportions are correct.
  4. Well, there are actually tools available for that. Allready now in LDD there is function that will generate a log file (in the form of a LXF-file) when you get that dreaded "X parts have been removed" warning. You can then open that file to see which parts where removed (illegal placement). It can be found here (Win7 example): C:\Users\[userName]\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\UnplaceableBricksDump.lxfml I'm also thinking about a feature in LDD Manager where you can compare two models (example "before" and "after" with respect to part content AND placement - basically the above function, but a bit more advanced.
  5. I asked this question to the LDD Team at TLG some time ago, and yes, LDD 4 will open 3.0 files without problems since they share the same file format. The only problem will be if you have used parts in your 3.0 designs that are not longer available in 4.0. One example is 30007 which most likely will be replaced by the newer mold 60581 (which has side supports). But I'm planning on doing a feature in LDD Manager that will solve this by automatically open the LXF-file and substitue old parts with new, equivalent ones so it shouldn't be a problem. From what I understand no parts will be removed without being replaced by new counterparts. Another problem when opening 3.0 files in 4.0 could be that brick geometries in 4.0 have been updated with more stringent boundaries, thus something that is possible to do in 3.0 is no longer possible in 4.0, but this I'm guessing will be extremly rare.
  6. Excellent. Reported to TLG....lot of work for them now!
  7. Cool Idea Zblj to use LEGO to model real life furniture. Is the table scaled correctly?
  8. Great job on the model Anders. And I have reported the error as a connectivity issue to TLG. It should be a legal build. Normally you are not allowed to attach either a single round 1x1 plate to a technic hole (difficult for kids to take off), or a brick with multiple studs (like a 1x2 brick) (once again difficult for kids to take off), but this case should be all legal.
  9. Sorry BrickWild - I didn't understand this
  10. Yes, I agree with Calabar - why double post? I think most of us here at the LDD forum reads just about every topic and every post - at least I do
  11. Well, there you go. I found the problem on 2). Great spotting. Reported to TLG! On 1) I'm not sure I understand. If you have problems attaching a brick, sometime you need to rotate the model slightly to get it to stick because the brick is trying to attach to the underside.
  12. No, no, no....it's actually a packet of Corn Flakes.
  13. That question has been answered both once and twice in the topic before. Have a quick lookthrough and you will find it. Also, is there any reason why you are not using capital letters when posting?
  14. Well spotted. Once of the worst bugs in a long time. I even had to bring out the some real parts to try it out. Concider it reported to TGL!
  15. Well done Ras. Great to see you get the review done despite having a fever. That's the true AFOL spirit.
  16. Yes, but in Sweden some letterboxes have that symbol on them So IT IS either a mailbox (most likely to be honest) OR a letterbox. But I agree it's a very Billund-centric image since US mailboxes and letterboxes looks different
  17. Excellent work - clean, sharp, black I like this!
  18. Thanks for posting. Looks like 2011 is going to be an interesting year on many levels!
  19. September was the word before summer. Other then that, I don't know I guess they are hidden in these pictures, but looking at the video, they are there.
  20. We'll have to wait and see. As I understood it, it's designed to run on normal spec computers. But I guess it depends on how old your laptop is.
  21. Here are some pics of the new 4.0 visualisation. Add to this the brick outlines we've seen before, and we got ourselves a pretty impressive look. LDD 3.1.3 LDD 4.0 Read more here (in Danish) ...and here translated to english
  22. The absolute main problem with breaking sets is to keep the color matching if you want to re-build them. Color tone and richness varies over the years, and one of the worst things I know is rebubilding a set and having it look like a mosaic. The second problem is the stickers. Do you peel them off, or keep them on. I try to keep them on, but then there are those that stretch over multiple bricks. I've just de-parted about 20 kg of sets, and even though it hurts, it's worth it - I need the parts for MOCs and can't afford to buy all the bricks needed AND at the same time have all those sets just standing in the shelf.
  23. Welcome to the LDD forum. Some friendly notes: if you're kind of new, its always a good idea to browse the forum and this topic to get a feel for what's been requested earlier. Also, if you request Bionicle (or Hero) parts, you need to be much more specific exactly which part, preferably with a reference to BrickLink. And please remember, this is an AFOL site - no need to use "hell" like you've done (i.e. just to say you want more bionice parts).
