  1. I guess there are some possible ways: 1. Moderator controlled relay The topic moderator creates a list of builders The topic moderator PM's out the LXF-file to the first person in line. When that person is done, he mails it back to the moderator, who mails it to next etc. 2. Semi-structured The topic moderator creates a list of builders First person post an LXF in the topic. The next person in the list downloads, builds, and then uploads in the topic. BAsically same as 1) above, but without PM/Mail involved. 3. Crazy-time No list of builders is created. First person posts an LXF. Then whoever sees it grabs it by posting "Checked out by NN". After he's done, the next person can "check it out" and so on. Are there more ways?
  2. Hi there. Welcome to the LDD Forum. I've got Win7 64bit and have not had the problem you describe. Kind of peculiar error actually.
  3. I don't think there will be that many updates. There is the decoration, color chart (I can add the complete mapping table later on). On top of that there might be some Templates, and other stuff (like the LEGO XML documenation).
  4. I don't think there will be any problem with noobs. If there is, we'll handle it. But good point nevertheless.
  5. Excellent work Aanchir. Can you create a new topic and name it "LDD Reference material". Since you are the owner of the first post, perhaps you'd like to take on to update it and keep an Index of LDD Reference Material of various kinds. Sounds OK? EDIT: you might as well create another post directly after it so you own the two first.
  6. Well, let's give it a try. Is there a voluntary that could be moderator for this experiment? I guess basically it's a matter of setting up the topic, and establish some simple rules (which I personally think should be minimial). Having said that, let's leave it in the hands of the "moderator" BTW, what shall we call this thing anyway? "Relay Community Build (RCB)? And to everybody: Make sure to sign up when the community build topic starts. This could very well be the first ever RCB in history.
  7. Isn't it about time for something fun and wacko What about a world first LDD community build? Could that be something? But I think we should do it with a brand new twist. Instread of a normal community build with everyone building a small, pre-defined chunk, I propose a relay community build. The idea is that one person starts out laying out 50 bricks (or so). Then the LXF is sent to the next person in line, who adds another 50 bricks. Then you go on like that, and eventually we'll see what it becomes (a miniature city, a CC house, a car, a piece of art?). I don't know if you need to decide before hand what it shall become, or if you just add what you feel like and it kind of evolves organically What do you guys think, does it sound like an idea?
  8. Please make a note next time and post here.
  9. Which brick does color only the surface. Is it the 1x1 tile?
  10. Wonderful job. You are a true Technics Master, that's for sure And thanks for sharing the LXF! Do you think the fact that couldn't connect 3/4 pins is because of an error in LDD, or because with the physcial model you can stretch the elements ever so slightly to make the holes align?
  11. Sorry no other version available. And not easy to port - there's a lot of VBA code etc. But you can download the free Access runtime if you can run a Windows virtual machine. It's in the same place where you download LDD Manager.
  12. Being swedish I have to like the Swedish Chef, dont' I
  13. What is the specification on your PD (model, OS, graphvids card etc). Also (very important) make sure you have the latest graphics card drivers installed.
  14. Great job on those Tore. And welcome to the LDD Forum here on EB.
  15. As you can read in the interview, parts pop up in LDD as they pop up. I'm sure the engine block was in the pipleline, but just didn't make it before LDD 4 was released.
  16. Yepp, it was there. And yeah, it was a pleasant surprise to see you in the store I had prepared most questions, a lot of them inspired from the discussions here at the forum actually. Claus and I had some e-mail contact before. Then I finished off the interview when I was there.
  17. Oh, don't I look cute. But now you've gotten the wrath of Calabar upon you - better remove that image
  18. Well, what we normally do then is to just leave the wings and cockpit to the side and make a remark. Once a brick is fixed in the future, it's easy to go back to the model and just snap on the wings and cockpit. If you have done a lot of custom work, it's more difficult to know what was original and not. So it's basically a matter of keeping the topic "true to the original". But let's also hear what Calabar, our Index chief says
  19. Well, I would normally do like this: 1) Start building the set and color the bricks as you go along. You pretty soon learn which colors in LDD correspond to which color in BrickLink. 2) Once you are done (or half-way), import into LDD Manager to see if you made a mistake by coloring a brick that doesn't exist in that color. It's not a fool proof test, but it's somthing. However, LDD Managers color checker is mostly usable if you are making a MOC. You build it in LDD, but a) you're not sure if a brick exists in a certain color, or b) before you get ready to order the bricks from BL, you wan't to check if they exist in that color. Note that you can also click the [+] to expand each line in LDD Manager But personally, I use LDD Manager to upload wanted lists in BrickLink once I've made a MOC.
  20. I too tried to get the wings on to from Daedalus304's model, but I can't even figure out where the problem is. Anyone else want to try to solve the mystery and pinpoint the problem.
  21. Hi Merman. Clever solution, but (and now I sound like a boring twit), it's quite important in this topic to keep to the orginal model as much as possible. Otherwise someone trying to mod and then re-build the set from the LXF-files, will get confused if the model won't build as intended. I hope I don't discourage you from making more models.
  22. I can undertand your frustration, but I'd prefer if we phrase ourselves a bit more positive on this forum. No point in complaining about parts that didn't make it. I mean: LDD is free and Universe Mode is offered to fans as-is. It's all in the interview BTW - direct from the horses mouth.
  23. Hey Brickdoctor - why ask how the beta testing works if you are not going to be in it @Whup - I have two kids, 7 & 9. If you want I can put them to work . Are they in the right age group?
  24. I think they were there before actually. Also note that yhere are some decorations on the forehead. It all depends on where you click on the head.
  25. The different modes offers the bricks that are in those modes. DbM offers only the brick that are available to purchase in the Pick-A-Brick. Creator offers the bricks that are in the creator sets etc. There might be some overlap between them, so that some brick that are in DbM are not in Creator and vice versa. Naturally the unofficial Universe Mode offers all bricks
