  1. Great job on all the Kaliphlin builds guys! First Mitgardia, then Kaliphlin... I'm a little worried Avalonia might lose the lead.
  2. 30 Elves & revolutionary soldiers, 20 Forest Maidens, evil Dwarves, Aztec Warriors, Galaxy Patrol, Evil Knights, Tomahawk Warriors
  3. "Any experienced Lego Builder"? In 2 hours? What an absurd statement.
  4. Ummm, I don't think you're authorized to give out brownie points.
  5. My brother was saying how Warhammer miniatures also cost twice as much in Australia, and that the average Aussie household income is twice as much as the standard income, so this was the rationale? I'm not sure if this is true, but that's what the markup was supposedly based on.
  6. The Yeti and welder are great, the other 3 are disappointing. I was hoping for more from the mech then just a recoloring as I didn't like the first mech.
  7. Wedge, free builds do contribute points to your Huild, but each Challenge entry is worth much more than a free build (potentially). The Challenges drive the main storyline so you have more incentive to enter challenges.
  8. Agreed. I've stopped making extra effort. If I see them in the store, and the display looks pretty full, I'll stop and feel for him, but I am not expecting to find one anymore.
  9. Yes, they should be on the shelves at the Lego stores on June 17th.
  10. So now that I have been paying attention, there has been a pretty even split on kids buying small LotR sets vs castle sets. The little kids are usually only buying Riddles or Wizard Battle, but they will get the whole range of Castle sets. Also, the 5 set limit is pretty standard in Lego stores. I don't know how common it is online, but it wouldn't surprise me to see in on any new sets for the first few months.
  11. The hardest sigfigs to build are the ones with custom parts. Next hardest would be a lot of the dragon barding and dragon armored Avalonians since those poeces only came in 1 set and are now outrageously expensive. You actually were pretty easy (for me at least) Welcome Wedge!
  12. There are always exceptions, but it's rare to see a kid over by the LotR sets.
  13. If someone would EVER update the index, we'd know!
  14. You have to realize that most kids could care less about LotR. They would much prefer castle over LotR. Kids don't even look at LotR sets at my Lego store. It's only adults.
  15. This is indicative of the mantra of Kaliphlin, as long as it makes us money and doesn't hurt us directly, it is acceptable. This is the motto of the trader driven by money and greed, something that is sadly not uncommon in Kaliphlin. It is the driving force of Kaliphlin, but it could also bring about their doom.
  16. I have uploaded most of the sigfig pics here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=527319 Good luck collecting the pieces though. It probably cost me at least $150 to complete them, and I don't have some of the newest members yet.
  17. It's not the association with Nocturnus, it's association with the Drow.
  18. can non-Kaliplhlinites votes against certain candidates they might find evil...?
  19. I have uploaded pics of a bunch of sigfigs to my brickshelf account, which is where my low rez pics for my MoCs are hosted. I will try to finish uploading tonight and post a link.
  20. Delta, you took the words right out of my mouth. A tower is much easier to represent as a set, and is Very iconoc of LotR. For Rivindel, all we sed is the council, there is no set buildings that you can really identify other than Frodo's bedroom (which could come with a freaky double-sided old Bilbo face). Lithlorien is barely in it, and again has no buildings you can really identify with except the pool, which wouldn't make for much of a playset. Minas Trith is the only city that has distinct features, but they are so spread out that it would be very hard to make one playset for it. Tou'd have to combine the gate at the bottom with the white tree on top.... Diagon Alley is exactly how I would expect any urban location to be displayed, and it just wouldn't work with any of these LotR locations. Bree would be your best bet with the Prancing Pony, the stables and the Gate. I would love to see Theoden's Hall, but I think we may have seen all of Rohan that we're likely to get.
  21. I agree that it is key to keep things running and not burn out the Guild Leaders, bit this can be accomplished with the vice guild leaders or the creation of guild positions similar to what Mitgardia has done. I think we can agree that GoH did not "break down" during the first Chapter, there was just less guild leader interaction within each guild then some people wanted. By getting help at the guild level, the guild leaders will not be overtaxed like they were in the first Chapter. This will also allow for more input and participation by members at the guild level, which is what most people have been asking for. I think the main storyline was great for the first Chapter and I think it would suffer if it were spread out through multiple authors.
  22. This is exactly the kind of thing that bogs everything down. Some think it's a good idea to get rid of gold, some want it to stay. Some people like the idea of meddling with Nocturnus, some don't want it to be the focus. Some want fighting, others don't. Everyone has an opinion and wants to tweak things this way or that. General member involvement at the guild level is far more feasible than mass involvement for the entire general storyline. Each guild has different focuses and goals. The overall storyline will also be more cohesive and logical when a few people are consistently doing it throughout a chapter. I think that rotating leadership has potential at a guild level, but not on a grand scheme level. I also think that the beauty of the guilds is that they are so open in terms of building options and locations, and restricting that with a lot of rules and guidelines would be a bad idea.
  23. Kaliphlin has always struck me as the most self sufficient guild. I hadn't thought guild leader guidance was that necessary for you guys. You've been doing a great job of creating individual cities and events and then having multiple members intertwine them in their builds and storylines.
  24. Drow are dark Elves from the Forgotten Realms Campaign in Dungeons and Dragons. Baldur's Gate is set in that world.
