You can't enter an entry or part of an entry (a ship) in a main Challenge AND a separate scored contest, or as a free build. I would think it would be acceptable merely as an additional ship for a guild ( so Mitgardia would have 20 ships in it's fleet instead of 19) but not as an individually scored entry.

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Rogue Angel replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Bregir, the landscaping looks just fine to me. There's always room for improvement, but there's a lot more variety than I see in a lot of builds here, and you have done a nice job of using a wide variety of pieces. the stone path is a nice addition. -
Light greys are fine to mix, dark greys looks really bad mixed. It does add variety, but the two colors do not go well together. One is more of a brownish grey and the other is more of a bluish grey. It really does not work well. Worst decision by Lego since fleshies IMO.

You've had quite a few very nice MOCs lately, and I really like this one. The posing is great and really captures the drama of surrounding the foe. I like the terrain and foliage, and the arrow through the visor is a great touch. Excellent work!

It seems I forgot to comment on this one. I really like the ship and the use of the Crownie parts for the Elves has worked very well. The story is excellent, and it's great to see another Avalonian vessel. My only suggestion would be to flip the dragon head on the prow to face forward, but this may not be feasible, and I'm sure you already considered this when you built it. Great work!

Nice work Wedge! I like the foliage and the shed is excellent. I think that the blockiness is OK, I would just do a sheer face of 4-5 bricks tall to represent where the original rock ends and the quarried section is. I look forward to seeing more of Erliea!

Excellent build Carson, I was not expecting a full interior on this. I like that you've added variation in a lot of the walls, and the interior is very well done. My only suggestion would be to perhaps add some 1x1 brown bricks between the windows on the 2nd floor, and the left of the left window as wood supports. This would break up the wall a little bit and make the off-centered windows look appropriate. Great job though! It's great to see more of Albion.

I really like this design - it is a great idea, and you've have a very basic, easily reproduceable design that looks great! We need more of these non-horse mount designs.
-
Nice build! I really like the layout/concept of the build, and I think you've portrayed it quite well. The rockwork, waterfall and vegetation are all well done, and I really like the head Drow. Great work!

Great story DG! I too really like the angled pieces over the rockwork for the Mitgardia build. The incorporation of the other guild members is a huge plus IMO. Excellent MOC!

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Welcome Bregir and Krono - great job on getting task entries in so quickly! Krono - As Task IV is not Avalonia-specific, it has it's own topic outside of the Avalonia thread. I will throw in a link to it though when I update the first page. Avalonians - get your side picked in the Challenge II thread. Teams will be assigned shortly, and I'd like to have an accurate headcount before dividing up the other guild members. I'm really hoping we can get a good turnout for this Challenge as it is being held in our lands. I will have other updates up shortly as well. -
Tomsche - these 2 events are not related at this point. You can hint or elude to some connection, but this may or may not be correct. I already know, but I'm not telling. Cara - the Hand of Corruption troops are the main foot soldiers for the Drow in Avalonia, so you can also use them if you'd like. I expect to see a lot more Hand of Corruption forces than drow forces in the builds, but it's up to you. Kayne - you cannot enter Challenge entries for any other contest or as free builds.

I had considered using those heads, but I just didn't like them enough to buy 30 of them. I could definitely see using them, but I'm hoping that a new head comes out soon, and then I would just be replacing the Ninjago heads.

I am behind on the rumors thread, so I apologize for reposting this separately. Mods please feel free to merge/delete this post if you feel it is appropriate. Lawrence Kasdan was the one thing that made me comfortable with the creative team for the new movies, so I'm also hoping that these are far superior to the prequels. I realize they are planning to use the twins, but I don't expect them to really match the personality of the EU twins now. I'm worried we're going to get completely new characters that are the same in name only. And the use of Seinar, the ISB and the Inquisitor are a drop in the bucket compared to what's out there. The use of Seniar Fleet Systems is somewhat promising since may mean they use KDY, Incom, Sorosuub, etc, but this may also just be an adjective - Seinar Fleet Systems might turn out to be some flashy new ship manufacturer that produces luxury yachts instead of the Imperial starfighter workhorse. I also realize that they haven't said that EU is not included, but it looks like they are just going to pick and choose some things that happen to go along with what they've already written, instead of the other way around. It would have been very easy to use this approach: "Hey, we need a ship for this smuggler" "What would an appropriate manufacturer" "Well, the Falcon is from Corellian Engineering, and they make a lot of different freighters, although KDY also makes a wide range of ships, including freighters. If it's a more obscure or less common ship, how about Sorosuub or Rendili" And this is what I would have expected if they really wanted to put forth the effort. There is a whole catalog of characters, planets, races, corporations, ships, etc, that they could be using, but it really sounds more like they will only add in things here or there just for flavor.

OK, I'm not sure this is the right place to post it but I see nothing about it anywhere else, so here goes... (And please be aware that even though I despise the prequels and CW, I am not trying to pick a fight with the Prequel fans out there, I am just pointing out that there is EU material that is much better written than the prequels and CW. I apologize in advance.) Lucasfilm just announced that through a meticulous and careful selection process, the Expanded Universe they have decided to keep is....none of it. The only things they view as canon are Star Wars, Empire, Return, the Prequels, and... the Clone Wars. This is such a slap in the face to all the Star Wars fans that have read the books, played the RPGs, read the comics, played the Video Games... Disney is saying "we don't want to bother with making the effort. We just want to make it easy for us to make our new movies/games/books without having to concern ourselves with anything in the past." This is definitely strike 1 against Disney for me. Mara Jade, Thrawn, the X-Wing series, the twins and Anakin, all gone. KOTOR and the Old Republic - gone. The REAL Clone Wars series (the series of 6 minute shorts) - gone. Dark Empire, Legacy - gone. Not to mention the fact that I own every card from the Decipher CCG and the majority of the WEG, and both Wizards series RPG books, and these contain a literal ton of information - all gone. Thanks Disney. We are left with 3 amazing movies, 1 mediocre movie, 2 bad movies and 1 bad cartoon series. And they've taken the wealth of credible, logical information provided in the EU, and traded it in for midi-chlorians, weak jedi (Ep II) and idiotic races and planets altered to fit poorly written CW episodes. If they can't be bothered to match into ANY of the existing lore of the Star Wars universe, can we really expect them to make a movie that matches the spirit and quality of the original trilogy? (Matching the caliber of the prequels is a failure in my book). The Expanded Universe embodies the Star Wars universe outside the movies. Yes, there is quite a bit of bad material, but there is a lot of good material, there are great characters, races, planets, storylines... so much to choose from. I view this is a major failure by Disney. If you're not willing to put in any effort here, how much effort are you going to put into the movies?

I think capes and strings are fine. they have been used quite a bit by GoHers. Over in Avalonia, we post pictures of our soldiers all the time. -

[SoNE Ep. IV] Sector A - Every shot makes two victims
Rogue Angel replied to BEAVeR's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Thrawn didn't have a conscience. He was brilliant but he was not a good person. You'd have an easier time convincing me that Paelleon had one. And Fel defected to the New Republic, proving my point.
