What thye could do is re-release a classic set with a smooth modern look with PF possibility. like the 7750, the tender wagon could hold the battery box.

This is just amazing, speechless! Awesome job with all the details. Do you have -any- idea about the part count?
-
And still that is one of the most wanted Lego trains ;)

A few months ago I recorded a video where I used long trains. I lost unfortunately most pictures but I have these two left:

Looks great, also the internals! Well done!

TLG is almost spoiling us: 2013: 1 expert train 2014: 2 city trains 2015: 1 city train 2016: again an expert train? Don't get me wrong, I'd love the idea of a new expert train but giving this trend, it seems like TLG is following a different route by putting more trains regularly on the market?

Nice design! How many parts does the train have?

Cool design! Can it move through a curve as well?

What the heck is "flood control"
AlmightyArjen replied to SteveB's topic in Forum Information and Help
It probably has to do with a server protection against a lot of search requests at once from the same user, which could result in an overloaded server. -
Yes. You can use an old 12V supply, which you can also use to power the arduino. Nice video, clear explanation!

What were you doing in The Vault?? As far as I know it isn't accessable for "normal" people?

Amazing! I like the way you used the flex rails to create the arches! -
13 Lego trains crashing into each other at once!
AlmightyArjen replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nothing visible. Maybe some minor scratches! Yes, there was the crash test dummy minifig in the center of the rails, nice spotting! Unfortunately I couldn't find a right angle to make a shot with him. He's doing fine, he likes his job so he'll be there next time ;) Last time you were busy, I'll be busy upcoming months with the new house so it's going to be 2016 I'm afraid. But we'll find some time some day :D -
13 Lego trains crashing into each other at once!

I made the HE arrive a bit later. Since this train is very heavy, it has a lot of momentum. Next to that it has two motors so the motor at the back kept pushing while the front went up :) -
13 Lego trains crashing into each other at once!
AlmightyArjen replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
That's a good idea but I only have 3 or 4 PF-motors ;) -
Hey all, It was time again for a big train crash! This time 13 trains (why? because "13") that crash into a big station all at once. Rebuilding of the station wasn't necessary: I've used it over a year now and it's time for something else. (I don't know what yet). I had to use all of my straight sections of rails (a little over 400). The rails were all interconnected at the station and as power source I've used a modified ATX computer power supply. Mainly because I don't have enough regulators to power all the tracks seperately and the trains run a bit faster at 12V. A train motor can handle that: it's only for a few seconds :) This is also the first crash video with a "story". Enjoy!

Sounds great indeed!

I love it as well. I don't understand why everybody is fond about the Emerald Night though. I think it has something to do with taste ;)

Wow, that's really cool! Nice work!

[Tutorial] Modifying a 9V Train Motor
AlmightyArjen replied to codefox421's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Nice tutorial, thanks! I was always wondering if it could be done.- 9 replies

- 9v
- power functions

Connecting a PF battery box to a 9V track can be done without a problem. You just need a converter cable from PF to the old 9V 2x2 bricks which then can be connected to the 9V 2x2 brick with the to track connectors (or directly but then you'll have to cut your supply cable directly). Just connect the middle two wires of the PF flat cable (4 wires total) to the old 9V 2x2 brick and that's it :) I have no experience in controlling the trains individually on a 9V track. You'll have to break open the train motor for that...

Fully automated 10128 level crossing with the Terminator!

Thanks for the nice replies! And no it's unfortunately not my own voice (think of the possibilities! :D ) but that from a voice actor. -
Fully automated 10128 level crossing with the Terminator!
AlmightyArjen replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Yes, the barriers are pretty fast on purpose. Just like you mentioned, when closing slower, you need to put the sensor further away (2 meters or so at least), which is not always practical. And yes, I've used ordinary white LEDs. 3mm for the barriers, the rest is 5mm. Thanks for the tip, I'll take it in account for future projects.
