So far no news about an upcoming train set in 2017, right?
-
Great to hear Breakdown, it's an awsome camera indeed!

I built a Winter Village which contains most of the Lego Winter Village sets and a Winter Station, which I will be submitting to Lego Ideas later on (the station is easily converted to a non-winter station). Here are some pictures: And ofcourse I made a winter themed video too! The video is also the reason why I already built a Winter Village this soon: I want the video to gain some watchtime on Youtube so more people will find it around Christmas :)

So many details, also the building techniques are awesome. Well done!

There are two groups of AFOL's: the ones that see their trains as precious material and the ones who see them as toys. I'm the latter and I have no problem crashing them: it's good fun! :D I use an Ion Air Pro 2 for the on-train shots. It has a bullet shape so easy to install and less (top)heavy than a GoPro.
-
So "crashtober" has arrived once more! This time 15 trains crashing into each other and a stop motion intro. Enjoy :)
-
Probably because of the cables: it's easier to have them on the same side. Nice project to begin with anyway!

Knowing TLG is always working 2 years ahead, it's still possible that they came up with the idea having watched your video. Though they have also used a wheel powered contraption (is that another word for "mechanism"?) in the 4533 Snow Remover set.
-
I wonder how fast they wear out. Since it's 3D printed, I don't expect them to be very hard. Maybe I'll give it a chance, I'm thinking about it. To also end with a quote: "The hapiness of the low price has long forgotten when the annoyance of the poor quality continues"
-
Was that by chance my video? You still can. Use an old 9V motor to pick up the voltage from the rails and instead of connecting it directly to the PF motor, connect it to the PF receiver using the inner two connections of the PF-cable. See also in the video above.
-
I was about to suggest to convert it to the 9V system, then you loose the battery box. But then you loose unfortunately the red wheels on the locomotive. Unless you extend the tender so a motor fits beneath it.

Huge train station MOC of 25.000 bricks
AlmightyArjen replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Again, thanks for all the positive reactions, very nice to hear! I not much of a city builder: I get bored very fast on working on the same city for a while. It's more my thing to engineer and build automated systems but I try to fill the layout with other sets and yes, there will be some more MOC's in the future; I have some ideas. The internal structure is built loose from the exterior so it's possible to change the interior completely. But for now this is the final version and I'm not sure if I'm keeping it for years to come: it became bigger than expected and it's consuming a lot of space in my attic :)- 43 replies

There's one scene with an intercom annoucement on 2:27, it's pushed back to the background due to the voices though. I could've used it somewhere else too.- 43 replies

Huge train station MOC of 25.000 bricks
AlmightyArjen replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks for all the positive reactions! :) LDD design took about 2 months, building the whole thing another 4 I guess. Average of about 20 hours a week. The whole thing is quite low tech actually: for lighting I used normal LED's (5mm) (through a technic plate with a transparent 2x2 plate beneath it and for the light poles I used SMD LED's. All moving equipment is controlled by an Arduino, together with L298 motor driver modules. Yes, the Kepler (I know it only as the "Koploper", which is the dutch name) is indirectly from BlokBricks. Voices are done by voice actors, I used Fiverr.com for that. Pay a few dollars and they say whatever you want :D The Terminator screen is made in ColorDirector as a base, text has been added in the video edition software (PowerDirector).- 43 replies

Huge train station MOC of 25.000 bricks
AlmightyArjen replied to AlmightyArjen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Based on the large caterpillar tracks indeed. I've put two 1/2 technic pins through the holes of every segment. On of the pins a 1x4 plate, the two hinges to make the step horizontal and then tiles and jumpers. I got the LEDs from the local electronics store. They are SMD LEDs, but large for their type. About the monorail: you're totally right, I could have done that better. The monorail system is quite genius as you can make the monorail stop or return (mechanically). I left it on the the return position: this was easier during filming. I've been lazy ;) About the monorail: see above. Difficult to adjust the system as it works mechnically. Though not impossible I think. I first was looking around for a smoke generator but they're difficult to use in combination with Lego since they're getting pretty hot. So I used a special effects feature of my video editing program.- 43 replies

Hi all, Some of you may have seen it already on my Work In Progress channel; the past 5 months I've been busy building a huge train station! It started with an LDD design. I ordered the needed bricks on Bricklink and started building. The LDD design covered the basics: a lot of detailing has been done during the building. The station has working escalators, elevators and sliding doors and are controlled by an Arduino. It also has more than 100 built-in LEDs. The platforms are about 2,5 meters long. There's also a monorail and bus station. I can explain everything that's inside but I suggest you just watch the video ;) If you have any questions, please do ask! :)

It could be a system that supports both techniques.
