  1. It is nice, its just smaller than previous one. What I really look forward to get are are car and log transporter sets. Tow truck is also nice (scaled down version of this years technic tow truck). Bandit hideout will be popular for dark red brick bricks. Other sets are not worth mentioning, except for kfols.
  2. Yeah, but one was a truck and this one is just a pick-up.
  3. I've also seen all new sets. Plane is really nice, with lots of new 3 wide panels. Motor is sadly not L, but M. Other sets are disapointing. That "crew" set is just a mix of three mediocre 20euro sets and container stacker is to small and to roughly made. I also dont like snowmobile. Its just too basic.
  4. Yeah, thats it.
  5. Police is similar letdown like this year's fire station: bland police station and re-re-released police cars. Good thing are (again) great vehicles set, with great new ideas and good execution.
  6. I never had high interest for1H technic sets. I dont like small technic sets, because I think that they are too small to have interesting functions. 20-30 euro sets are ok if they represent sets which are not so big in real life (motorcycles etc...). What I really hate in this years lineup is that they divided large model in to three smaller ones, so that means that we will get LOTS of smaller sets in1H. 42020 Twin-Rotor Helicopter 42021 Snowmobile 42022 Hot Rod 42023 Construction Crew 42024 Container Truck 42026 Black Champion Racer 42027 Desert Racer There is still hope for march release. We have seen some great sets in that timeslot and I believe that it also be the case this year. And I think that its not included in this list. Might it be the rumored plane?
  7. Statement from LEGO (Senior Manager Keith David Severson) about availability and future of this set:
  8. VIP discount should be ok. Its not bound to specific item but it substracts from final amount on invoice. So, double point seems to be best discount option for larger sets.
  9. Yeah, they do that. Its funny to read how they are annoyed by not getting expected hight prices. I think that they bought too many sets. The reason why certain sets like UCS falcon and Cafe Corner are so expensive in MISB because they come from time before the boom of reseling and peopel mostly got them for their own enjoyment. I you look at Bricklink: there are currently around 30 UCS falcons for sale and around 60 Cafe Corners (number is hugher because of sets from bricklinked parts). If you check 41999, there are 120 sets for sale and just by checking resellers forum, you could see that they stocked hundreds if not thousand of sets. There just arent that many people willing to pay 400+ eur for set which isnt even SW or Modular building (SW has larger fan base also outside lego community and modular buildings have high "must to have all" potential). Its good. Those are not some poor fellows and, after all, they will not lose any money on it (sets will always sell for 200-250eur), they will just not make SO MUCH money of it.
  10. Take a look at german ebay. Sets like 8285 could be bought for less than 100 eur. Bricklinking them would be expenseive, because of high amount of parts (1800+).
  11. Its the same rope as in 42009, thicker than normal lego rope.
  12. I also have three year son. I have small layout in basement and he really likes to go there. I have a lot of sets, including almost all city stuff from last few years (i started buying for similar reasons like you). My son also likes cars and trains (dont they all) so most of city stuff is ok for him. He really likes roller garage doors in helicopter rescue and helicopter arrest, conveyor belt from trash compactor escape and large yellow city crane from 2005. But real winner is last years 4207 city garage. Its big, it has space for lots of cars (four included), working lift (he can easily operate it), working car wash, repair shop ( to change/remove wheels), gas pump and entry ramp. There is really a lot to play with and set is sturdy enough, to take most of the abuse a three year could come up with (small pieces could fall of, but main structure is really strong). Other thing I recommend are train. I have many tain, but red city train is his favourite. I just removed motor and made push type ( he likes it better that way).
  13. Thats the main reason, yes. Sets also include Mindstorms 2013 and Hard to Find sets. That makes those coupons pretty much useless. I dont agree with it, but thats what TLG decided to do and for now there is not much we can do about it. It would not be fair of me to say "buy elsewhere", but I expect that it will happen anyway. The problem is most likely also Amazonand other sellers of Esclusive sets will get some restrictions. I think its all part of TLG info given by Kevin Hinckle last month.: There was heated discussion abou this at Ambassador forum, but so far it looks that it will stay in place. And for now its still valid just for Usa/Canada.
  14. Since this never got finished: our LUG member posted nice review. Its in Slovenian, but you can use google translate: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=sl&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kocke.si%2Fforum%2Fviewtopic.php%3Ff%3D35%26t%3D7792
  15. Following info has been given at Lego Ambassador forum from Jan Beyer: "The LEGO® Star Wars™ Clone Trooper™ will be also used in a promotion in D2C Europe later this year."
  16. I'm in too. Most likely with family (wife+4year old son), so we will take our own chalet. I still need to look up whats the smallest chalet.
  17. I tested "commander" app on iPad with Strik3r robo and it works flawless. Setup was also very easy, very "apple" like: enabled BT and ipad/iphone options on EV3 brick, goto to Bluetooth on ipad, click EV3 and thats it. Then I just opened Commander App, selected Spik3r and clicked "play" button. No pairing, no PIN codes, no rebooting... App works great. There ares liders for movement, and, best of all, for claws. You can close tham as gently as with you fingers. Walikng is also great, you could just creep forward and then suddenly speed up. Really positive suprise! I also tested Builder app. It works ok and its handy becaus you dont need to have computer present when building. You can rotate anytime, similar like in 3d design programs.
  18. Not to mention your strategy with selling minifigs. :) I sent him something about that. I also depends a lot on which bricks you need. Creator house has white, Haunted house has wonderful sand green, Arkham Asylum has grey, Tower bridge has tan and so on.
  19. I agree with dfenz (I think tha we even got merlin at the same time, during Eurobricks event), but unfortunately I think that autmn coupon is not valid yet. I will check that and let you know. Correction: It is valid. Preiod is from sept. 2nd to november 3rd. Just check if you still get it with Merlin pass. And even withou coupon, you still get 10% off in all Legoland shops. Only problem is that they might not have all sets on stock (they were out of some exclusive sets when I was there last time, but that could also be due to 20+ eurobrickers doing heavy shopping) :)
  20. If I understand correctly, you are no planning to sell the parts, not even minifigures. Because, if you do, strategy might be different. My choice: 10228 Haunted house - lots of sand green, roof parts and other usefull stuff 10937 Arkham asylum - many decorative details 10223 Kingdom youst - mostly grey, but roof parts are great and windows are useful 10214 Towe Bridge - lots of small parts, but price per piece is still atractive 10229 Winter willage cottage - windows, decorative elements, lots of tiles +one of each current modular and if there is still money, additional haunted house.
  21. "We have piece counts for 389 of the sets you own. Using that data we have calculated that you own 151122 pieces! Here's a list of the sets you own that we don't have piece counts for." +several ten thousand loose bricks
  22. For me real pros are extra motor port, M-motor and ipad/iphone connectivity. Is it worth upgrading? For now, I think not. Maybe in time, when price drops and there will be discounts. If you are casual user, EV3 really offers a lot of new experience with prepared instrucitions, mobile device connectivity and remote control. If you just want brick, motors and sensors for you own projects, difference to old version is not that high. I dont know what so you mean with BT an Wifi conectivity. Already NXT had BT and EV3 offers option of WiFi.
  23. Or even better; limit the purchase to VIP holders only and set "one per VIP card limit". And never again give such large portion to TRU, while some LEGO brand shops get just 6 sets in total. Please mind that those post copied from resellers forum are just from last few days. It looks like some countries (ie:USA) are still getting (or having) a lot of those sets, while others got those few and thats all. It'r really bothers me and I will raise this question at Lego Ambassador forum.
  24. From resellers forum: "Appears more and more Crawlers are coming online driving down the price... I see a few at 310 to 350 with no bids or about to expire. " "I hope 300 crawlers or more get sold over the next week or two in the 3-400 dollar range, when the short term people are out, better for the long terms like us still sitting on 30-40 sets." They are being upset because no one buys at their overinflated prices. "Ok thanks for the info, I'd be happier sitting on 4 sets vs 2. " "i bought 7 with my vip card. no problem. " "17 Crawlers sold worldwide on eBay yesterday by my count including 12 by this time (1:21 PM CDT). Today - 0." "Also---I would have had 9 now--but sold 4 already. I have 5 on hand now---well---4 at home and 1 in the trunk" "this month I bought 7 funhouses,7 chess sets, 2 BTTF, 2 hayabusa, 4 crawlers all this month on my vip card. Should I not order any more? I was going to make at least 15-20 purchases in $75 dollar increments to get the 20 free poly bags? help!" This one got punished, but it didnt work: "I've been banned along with 23 other people from buying any Lego exclusives from the four Lego Stores closest to me.. The big resellers in my area. I can only buy one of each exclusive for myself now apparently. They will check photo ID at the managers discretion and will not allow me to buy the sets if my name appears on the list (which it is on) Both me and my partner and Rich B along with several others I know are on that list hah. I got a phone call today telling me. It sucks because I definitely contribute a lot of money to keeping at least one of the stores going hah. But whatever they can't ban all my family and employees and friends so it doesn't really limit me that much. Also doubt it really had that much to do with the crawlers, I bought most with cash and with different VIP cards. I think it was more just buying crap tons of sets for 8 years straight hah! I'm still getting 8 crawlers tomorrow..so I'm not too worried " "It's corporate who did it, the stores seemed kinda apologetic. They just mentioned they would lose their jobs if caught selling it to the actual person on the list. Sucks for any John Smiths out there..... I've got 26 Crawlers so far so a little ban doesn't hurt too much " Picture proof: Making exuses: "Sorry for back-to-back posts on this, but the more I think about TLC banning customers, the more I see how out-of-line they are—not to mention the way they are going about it. I could see the interview with the TLC spokesperson going about as well as the, "We believe in hydration" interview, with the Coke CEO: The TLC Representative starts off with the line about how, “TLC has clear policies in place” ...and then proceeds to turn beet red when the interviewer points out that they are blaming their customers for not enforcing policies that their own employees and corporate website failed to uphold. “Is it fair to place that responsibility on your customers, Mr. Lego Representative?” “Well,” the spokesperson will argue, “We are just trying to ensure that our products have the chance to get into the hands of as many children as possible.” “...So your failure to accurately gauge the supply and demand is also the fault of your customers? Let me ask you about a set known as Fire Brigade, Mr. Lego Rep; because one of the reasons for banning Customer X was his purchase of twenty of these sets. How many of these sets has your corporation produced?” “Well, I wouldn’t know off hand...” “A thousand? Ten Thousand? A Hundred Thousand? Is it fair to say that Customer X's purchase of these sets was an attempt to keep them out of the hands of children? ...Hello, are you still there? Hmm, we may have lost the feed.”"
