  1. Nice start! I love that Laketown guard helm, it fits so well in Mitgardia!
  2. I had the idea when the Mitgardians started their Landscapes of Mitgardia, to do a similar thing for Nocturnus. I was bothered about just ripping off their idea, but seeing as their CB has died a death and it's only really the Age of Mitgardia that's keeping going? I was thinking, we have a pretty varied, hostile landscape, and combined with some great builders we could pull of some unique terrain- not to mention all the crazy flora and fauna we've got (some of which have been hinted at in the Tribes builds). Imagine forests of tangled thorns, warped swamps where twisted, misshapen trees vie with one another for the meagre light, herds of demonic chimera roaming fields of lava and the giant pinnacles of the Rakath Mountains where the skeletal frames of undead eagles clash with the fiery talons of twin-headed dragons for supremacy. That's just me thinking off the top of my head and blurting it out, so any thoughts? Edit: I couldn't spell meagre.
  3. Ah, sorry I wasn't clear, I meant tying in the story, not the snow! And good point about snow freezing there- I don't experience snow all that often, so I'm not too sure on the physics of the thing!
  4. Great story. I'm not sure the snow would manage to gather on the steep sides of the shelter. Still, nice idea, and great to see you tying it into your other builds!
  5. Misdirection. Once you are in possession of ALL the facts, then you can try to argue the point. I play a long and convoluted game, and no upstart with a little black tower is going to dissuade me. Edit: I've got a freebuild coming up soon, anyone else got anything coming up?
  6. This is amazing! Excellent work as always! The angling is superb, I can't believe there's no gaps! I love that you've included arrow slits/archer positions in the crenellations- very cool! I look forward to the other modules!
  7. I really like it. I do agree about the raised platform- it's maybe too organic? The curves make it blend too much into the ground at the moment. I do love your bases though, they're amazing, and the use of a living target is great (brilliant posing!).
  8. I'm likening Sigurd. He has all the right priorities! Nice build, I quite like how using the skis has turned out!
  9. *Puts geography/geology hat on*. Thats a nice example of an arch, Gideon! There's quite a few extant examples of arches in the world. They frequently occur on coasts, where the erosional processes acting on a cliff can form them. Durdle Door in Dorset, England is one of my favourite examples- the whole area is a World Heritage site, so on a par with things like the Taj Mahal. You get them sometimes in old, dried up rivers, and they can form from various weathering processes further inland. Bear in mind the scale of arches can vary enormously. I'm guessing the arch in this MOC will have been comprised of several layers of sandstone, probably tilted onto its side, hence the colour variations. No doubt kabel will come along now and pick holes in what I've said! :P
  10. I actually have a serious question for you guys (I know, I'm deigning to ask the Guild of Bearded Ladies a serious question!). All jesting aside, as part of my sig fig's overarching Book II story, he's travelling to Mitgardia, tracking a person(s), and this will lead him to Avalonia, thereby setting up my challenge entries. At least, that's the plan. He's going to what I imagine as a walled garrison town, population ~300, with about a third of that being the military garrison itself. It's preferably towards the mid-west of your lands, and definitely has snow (not blanketed, but fairly consistent.). I was wondering if this fits any of the established towns (and if it would be ok to use said town), or if I should make up a new one? If a new town, I'm open to naming suggestions- I'm drawing a blank at the moment! Cheers!
  11. Still getting confused by the decoys eh? You poor poor person. Who's to say I'm trying to assassinate you?
  12. So you spotted the decoys then? Good to know the Black Spire can spot 7 foot tall scarecrows in clown makeup. Fantastic observation skills there.
  13. I'm slowly building up my Guilds of Historic forces. However, I'm creating figs based on the different guilds, so my "army" is quite varied, and full of my own "named" characters. I have a few zombie soldiers for my main Nocturnus Guild army, but that's about it. I'm more given to smaller MOCs, so I don't need lots of figs. I shall probably bricklink some more zombie heads and expand my army sometime soon though.
  14. Two minds not for much longer. My assassins approach even as these words are uttered.
  15. That's pretty rare. If it's mint, it's worth a fair bit. I'd go for it at that price, it's a piece of castle history.
  16. Nice! I like the positioning of the white wolf/wart with his head stuck though the opening! Great looking building as well!
  17. Nice! I like the colours used, very desert-esque.
  18. A lot of British castles have walls with varying heights as they were added to over hundreds of years. Perhaps you could go for something similar?
  19. Aye, we are the best guild after all!
  20. Nice story! Love that Sigurd the horse gets involved!
  21. I agree about the use of the brown arch! Nice!
  22. Nice approach to this category- unusual fighting styles!
  23. As many different helms and colours as possible, indeed hoods and the like might be good as well, perhaps for lightly armoured orcs. More armoured orcs are accurate as well. The key is as much variation as possible- orcs don't have a uniform, with the exception of the Uruk Hai and perhaps the Morrannon Orcs (although they're more of a colour scheme- red and dark metal.
  24. I'd be inclined to say don't open it, because it's something the staff use as a story point. It wouldn't work too well as another guild at the moment. Plus, you can always have Varylioan secondary characters, and there's nothing stopping you building there- there's plenty of MOCs built there. And lastly, there's a lot of other guilds (from the 5th guild challenge) that many view as canon within GoH.
