42114 Wheel Dozer
M_longer posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
An alternative model for 42114 6x6 Volvo Articulated Hauler Model is completely motorized, with 3 motors, and controlled by official 42114 profile in Control+ app Scaled to dimensions of CAT 834K, with additional features like working fans behind the cab. Drives, steers and elevates the blade. The gearbox from A model has been redesigned, I've removed the parking brake and whole gearbox is much more compact. An additional feature, not present in A model are spining fans behind the cab. Whole model is basically a housing for gearbox, motors and HUB. The blade elevation drivetrain is a little bit complicated, due to lack of second universal joint. Instead I have used several bevel gears on the central pivot. If someone thought that only Lepin steals from MOCers, well you were wrong. One of my followers has shown me this. Basically someone in Netherlands is selling 3/4 parts from 42100 set, with my (cut, removed watermarks, etc) instructions. And even with stolen photos from Eric. Also, they are offering instructions too. https://www.bol.com/nl/p/liebherr-pr-776-lego-bulldozer-technisch-bouwpakket-exclusief-limited-model-toy-brick-lighting-dozer-3000-bouwstenen/9300000025852121/ Thoughts?

An alternate model for 42122 Jeep Wrangler. Based on trophy trucks: Featuring front wheel steering, suspsension with shock absorbers on both axles and jerry cans ;) This model uses 100% of parts from 42122 set, with a little cheat for drum winch, used as a spacer under the spare wheel. The Wrangler does not come with many gears, but I managed to build a contraption allowing to have HoG steering by gear on the roof. There are two jerry cans instead of passenger seats : Doors can be opened: And here's the video: Instructions can be found at Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-62805/M_longer/42122-trophy-truck/ Sample pages:

You will have a lot of friction on actuators used for elevation. -
[MOC] Liebherr L506 compact

No differential at front in a machine that has articulated chassis will generate stress on the drivetrain elements.- 11 replies

Ladies and Gents, let's face it: In next few years CaDa motors and steering will become only way to build MOCs made trough PF era. Power Functions motors will be retired soon, and C+ motors are not a replacement for them, because they are bulkier and weaker. Of course buying used parts will be still possible, but I think that having 2 motors in price of one will be tempting. Thoughts?

It would require rebuilding of the main frame, because most of moving parts are connected to XL and L motors side holes.

42114 Wheel Dozer WIP Another alternate model in the making. Fully compatible with Control+ 42114 profile, with 3 drive gears + blade movement (in place of bed elevation). Working fake R6 engine and two working fans behind the cab. Loosely inspired by CAT Wheel Dozers (834K mostly). It is still a work in progress model, so some things will be changed, maybe stickers and rear wheel arches will be taken off, because it is definitelly not a Volvo

Control+ General Discussion
M_longer replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have been playing with 42114 and its "gorgeous app" trough our exhibition last weekend and OH MY GOD why this thing needs up to 3 minutes to calibrate? And why using Buwizz app for the steering and driving is far way smoother and easier than LEGO C+ app? If Buwizz app would support centering the servo motor, I'd never use C+ app again.
