Fraunces Brothers Story Part 2: The Octopus
Fraunces replied to Fraunces's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Legostone I tried to get the length as accurate as possible but I only had 3 mid-sections so my options were limited. Thanks for the compliment. @Bodi thanks! I do my best -
Fraunces Brothers Story Part 2: The Octopus
Fraunces replied to Fraunces's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Ross Fisher Thanks for the tip. I use the backside of a big map of Europe as backdrop but due to shadows and light it never goes the way I want. I think I will just make a LEGO background or go to a beach to make some pictures next time. If anyone knows a good photoshop program to add water/sky backgrounds that would be a great help -
I really like the story and all the nice small builds you make for them. But especially the effort you put into making a realistic (coöp)story. Keep it up! You got fans watching

[COR-FB-Class 7 Ship] Frigate "Marlin"
Fraunces replied to LM71Blackbird's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the inside but the ship is too long I think. Play ability is nice but now all the extra space does not compensate for a less realistic look.- 9 replies

If you want to read the first part of my characters story, read the introduction post. "Log of Captain Lothario Fraunces, 28th of June, 618 Me and my brothers Jacobo and Alfie spend some days together in the city of Breshaun. Me and my brother Jacobo came to Breshaun on board of the Fluyt 'The Octopus'. Together with Alfie we enlisted again and had plans to reach the new world to the east, when some of the Octopus' crew members came to me. Crew members: "Lothario, the captain died last night. He was ill since we left Holders Rock but he did not want to tell anyone. We need a new captain and we know your skills on the seas and don't trust the old quartermaster Cedric. He is egocentric and is very stubborn. Lead us in our mutiny!" And so we went to the ship. I challenged Cedric to a duel for the captaincy. Our cutlasses almost broke with every strike. Cedric fought like a bull but his anger prohibited him to foresee my moves and I was on the winning hand, what I did not know was that Cedric companion was below deck, ready to fill me with lead through the hatch. The blast just missed my forehead and blew my hat away. The cheat came out of the hatch to finish the job, but he did not count on my brother Alfie. With one smooth move Alfie threw the cheat overboard: "Go irritate Neptune" - he said. How I already love this guy. The duel with Cedric however, continued. It was not long before I took the upper hand and with a few slashes and thrusts I had him on the ground. We put Cedric on a rowing boat back to Breshaun, The Octopus crew chose me as their new captain. We buried our old captain on an empty beach in LeBellan, said goodbye to the girls in the brothel, took in fresh supplies and headed to the new world. Jacobo (the new quartermaster) convinced the me and the crew to head to île D'Or, for glory, adventure and gold was lurking on that island. What more does one need to convince a bunch of Sea Rats? And so we went." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I hope you guys like my ship and the story. I checked the shipwright post for building tips and took my main motivation from the replica Dutch Fluyt 'de Batavia'. I will license her as a Class 5. My apologies for the bad photo-shopping, this is not my forte. The name derives from the bow spring: C&C is welcome.

Fraunces replied to Capn Frank's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Looking at this in 2018 lol, but I loved the build so much I just needed to comment something. I really love the design, the colours, the old-school islanders and the bar. Compliments for your creativity -

[SR - FB2 Jun 18] White gold for Tortuga
Fraunces replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I think you captured the bacteria-colored graduate change to purple very well. Maybe a build with real LEGO would give it more charm -
I too, like the window view. Keep the handling of peacefuk relations to us Sea Rats Haha I'm sorry for the poor wit but I just couldn't stop myself

I was just about to build a salt-marsh myself after some research into Dutch colonial island economies. Very nice how you have build this one and a very good representation of how they used to look. -
[COR - FB] Lady Belson - Class 4
Fraunces replied to Flavius Gratian's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
To start: awesome ship. Not that I am a professional in this computer LEGO building but maybe I might suggest you make the sails a little bit more detailed for the next ship. That's my online negative remark. I am very impressed by the way the ships looks (very realistic) and I especially love the Corrington-navy-flag design a lot. I haven't seen that one yet. -
Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion, ERA II
Fraunces replied to dr_spock's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Kwatchi @Drunknok @Mesabi Cool down yo, it is just a LEGO game you're all taking this way to serious. Just appreciate the efforts everyone is putting into this. But I kind a agree with the Corries here @Kwatchi: they can try and help or influence players to coop in their towns. It is a free game and we Sea Rats can do the same. In the real age of sails the English also offered buccaneers and pirates all sorts of deals to make them contribute something to society I do however tend to first wait a little and prove my building skills in proper sea rat ports before sailing of to other nations' islands. This I do not get .. Maybe someone can provide a link? Maybe one will build in Mesabi Fabuland (gotta appreciate that one), maybe one will build in Bastion. Just appreciate the shared hobby we all have and keep this game great -
Incredible ship. Can't image how much work you have put into this. I have not yet looked at LDD but if I see the results (this masterpiece) I am eager to give it a try.

[Esl - AMRCA] Faladrin : The second part of the map
Fraunces replied to Tezclatipoca's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very good story and nice builds, curious to see if the pirates will pursue de la Manzana or if this apple of knowledge is real... -
Very nice. I like the story, although my nerd part checked the first usage of ties (your mini-fig torso choice got me wondering) but according to wikipedia the ties as we know them and see on the mini-fig torso's where used as of 1860 and only in 1920 accepted in the US as standard piece of decoration in suit: so far out of the age of Sails .. I do hope critique is appreciated

[COR COOP] Grand Rum Factory of Port Raleigh
Fraunces replied to Darnok's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Clever idea of splitting the big acreage. Nice builds as well (although I do hope this does not become mainstream: I personally like the big 48x48 MOC full of details to stare at for a good amount of time to let the entire build sink in) -
[TSotEP] 15 - The Grand Finale (2/2)
Fraunces replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Extraordinary story, much effort in the builds and a lot of creative plot twists. All of this talent in these 15 parts of your big story, the least I can do is give you a heartly compliment. Thank you for putting in the work to give us this enjoyable story. -

Very nice small build. Special way to make the rock, I am building an island myself with some rocks and this sure got me inspired to improve my rock-builds! Thanks and keep up the good work!- 11 replies

[SR - FB] Matelot Tavern - Breshaun
Fraunces replied to Fraunces's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thank you good sir. My inspiration (and nostalgia) mainly rely on the Classic Pirates theme. I will try to translate this in future builds again with original adaptions. Thank you! I am pleased you guys like it. The double roof I took btw from the anno 1602 tavern. I sadly do not remember who posted a link to a webpage with the pictures but you know who you are, so thank you as well. -
Nice to see some continuation in stories. Didn't know we Sea rats had such accurate tab-calculators like Rodebrick amongst our ranks in Bastion, I sure do hope the extravagant unlimited drinking parties are still on the program for the next months!
