  1. I agree with wanting a red and white version, but if they were truly going classic, the Falcon first appeared in a green and yellow costume.
  2. Well, opinions, even when stated as fact, are in fact, just opinions. Thor is not a boring, mediocre character. Also, while the Avengers roster has changed a lot over the years, bringing in many, 'B' and 'C' rate characters, Thor isn't one of them. He is an original member and exponentially more popular than 99% of the various team members the Avengers have enjoyed throughout the years. Imo, the problem here isn't that Thor2 doesn't have a lot of vehicles (do we know this for sure?), it's that for whatever reason, Marvel and TLG keep including too many vehicles in their superhero sets, at the expense of the 'locale'. It makes me wonder if these people ever played with superhero figures as a kid or if they have watched kids today play with LEGO superheros. I used to make bases and have my guys battle in them. Sure, I had some vehicles, but they usually just parked or crashed into the base. It's the same with kids today. Whenever my nieces and nephews come over, they want to play with my LEGO. They build bases and battle/play in them. Duh. Some things will never change, but TLG and Marvel seem oblivious to this notion. At least DC seems to get it a bit better (not much, though...). Having a Batcave, Arkham and the Joker's Funhouse was brilliant. They are, by far, the most popular sets for my nieces and nephews. Daily Bugle, a tiny chunk of Tony's mansion and a smidgen of the Helicarrier just doesn't cut it, imo.
  3. After playing the new video game, I'm dismayed at all the great designs we may never see. I just don't trust TLG to make good super hero sets, nor do I trust them to give us a true variety of minifigs. I can only hope these sets do well, convincing TLG of the merit of expanding these lines.
  4. Ok, someone smarter than me (judging by the wonderful MOCs on this site, this is probably most of you) please help me understand something, from a marketing/industry standpoint...how can these games be made with no plans to actually make the minifigs and sets? It just seems like a total no-brainer to sell more games AND more LEGO.
  5. The Avengers cartoon is more classic and 1 billion-gahzillion times cooler than any of the movies. All the movies make everyone look the same--too busy. LEGO and the classic colors are made for each other like peanut butter and jelly. If we get a MODOK, I will be ecstatic. This whole theme just got a bit more interesting to me...seems I may be in the minority, though? I'd suggest waiting to see the minifigs and builds before jumping to conclusions.
  6. Yeah, can it really even be called a custom when all one has to do is take the werewolf's pants and put it on the vampire bat's torso? You never know, though...maybe TLG will give us something more...fleshed out?
  7. That white hood would be great for a few purist customs...namely, Taskmaster!!!
  8. I'd like some more henchmen... This is why a super hero-themed CMF line would be superawesomecoolgroovy.
  9. Nemo, I love when you put new stuff up. it is always so crisp and concise; no wasted bricks. This is top-notch as usual and features my favorite hero and villian from all comicdom. Great job!
  10. I think the LEGO minifigure has become popular enough to support more than one line, especially if the others are themed. I welcome the change and hope to see a lot of different themes get the CMF treatment.
  11. @Sam: nice post (you too, Superficial Username)--very informative. The only thing I take issue with is the notion that DC and Marvel would have final say on a product. While that is true, we have all seen super hero character used by a brahzillion other companies...from candy to tooth brushes to greeting cards. My point is that none of these companies seem to be very picky about who uses their characters and how they are used, as long as the money is paid. I doubt either DC or Marvel would get much into LEGO's business. This is why I feel the delay on the super hero theme reaching any kind of potential falls mostly on TLG. I know, this is extreme conjecture on my part, but at least it makes sense...what does not make sense is withholding so many intricate characters for so long. I know it's silly, but little Flash minifig coming our way has me more excited than the release of PS4 in November. I know I'm not the only one who feels this, by far. The logical conclusion then, is that TLGisn't making as much money on this theme as they could with a few more, key releases.
  12. I've heard this countless times, about it's marketing to kids. Of course, that is obvious (not being snarky here, just agreeing). I think it's equally obvious, however, that the number of AFOLs have increased to become a huge, if not bigger piece of TLG's fiscal pie. AFOLs are catered to in many of the themes, why not super heros? A recent example is LotR/Hobbit. TLG seems to have dove right in, assuming AFOLs would buy these sets up. They were probably right (I have at least one of each set so far). I think, since, TLG is and will always be elusive about these matters, that we are dealing with plain-old bad project management on the super hero side of things. The builds, especially last year, were pretty bad and the slow rate at which we see sets AND the disappointing number of varied characters in those sets just makes me think this is just mismanagement, rather than careful maneuvering. At the very least, we all know TLG has left a lot of money on the table...and that is frustrating.
  13. I can't even imagine the scenario in which TLG decided to not produce figs of at least the OG 7 from the 90s toon. I don't want to hear anything about licensing, either. As it is coming up on two years since I got back into the LEGO scene, it has become clear to me that TLG is conservative to the point of detriment. I have money to give them and they won't take it...and why? Is it really to "test" the waters of the superhero-themed LEGO market? Pffft. Get with it. Market Research shouldn't take so long. In reality, it doesn't matter. They can take as long as they want, drag around ideas, etc. We will all still buy up whatever they give us. If only they realized what they had and actual fans of the material working on the product, we wouldn't still be waiting for such popular characters as the Flash, GL, Martian Manhunter, Hawkman/girl, ANY new X-Men, etc. They would realize that MCU is the least interesting and least conducive area to make figures for. Sure, they could still make something for those MCU projects, but we all know the ever-growing AFOL crowd is salivating for classic characters from their childhood. Sorry.../rant
  14. Does the 'Juniors' moniker definitely imply Duplo? I hope not...hopefully just smaller sets. A Duplo Venom would be just...strange, imo.
  15. If TLG releases super hero themed CMF lines, I will spend so much on them, I might get a divorce. I can't even imagine...getting all those minor-ish characters would be wonderful and the extras would most likey have great parts for making purist characters of anyone they missed.
  16. This is why I love LEGO...what other "toy" can become art? Amazing work here.
  17. I dare LEGO to try and break my wallet with the super hero theme...double-triple-dog dare (reverse psychology...does it even work?).
  18. I don't think they would lose money at all. Going for a complete wave of minifigs is often equal to, or more expensive than completing a line, but one gets considerably less in total 'bricks'. It would be presumably, cheaper for LEGO to create the line but they would take in just as much money. This theory does, however, assume that just as many people would buy the CMF as they would sets, which I have no way of proving or disproving. I just know that I would love to see this happen, in conjunction with a few super hero builds. We already get very few builds throughout the year, so why would it hurt LEGO to throw us some more characters? I think this could work and they should keep the minifigs that appear in sets exclusive. Any duplicates of a character would/should have some difference.
  19. I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic, because we do have a ton of Lokis...he came in all the Avengers sets. They could've at least made one of them with hair or something... Also, I'd buy a ton of CMFs if they were licensed--especially superheros, many of whom have alternate costumes I could customize. The whole draw of many licensed themes is the characters. Plus, TLG superhero builds are mostly lackluster, imo. It would save me the disappointment of uninspired builds. Maybe some of you wouldn't like this, but I would, no doubt. I don't think I'm alone on this, am I?
  20. Amazing. The helicopter, Supe's trail in the asphalt, the fire hydrant...all fantastic. I'd love to see some shots of the underground section.
  21. I am 40yo and would play on this all day.
  22. OooOo, a $40 Flash figure!! Lol, kidding...sort of. I am very interested in the head under Flash's mask. It looks to have a red neck (ha ha) and depending on the rest of it, could be a good piece for customs.
  23. TLG is making the worst of the super hero line(s) and seem as if they are trying to alienate their everyday customer. The con exclusives aren't bringing new buyers into the fold, and if they are, the number is miniscule. In the meantime, the vast majority of the actual LEGO collectors must sit on the sidelines, feeling as if they have missed out (and we have!!). TLG's missteps are on many levels.: 1. 4 exclusives at one con? Dumb. Maaaybe two, I could understand...but four?!? 2. Con exclusives should only ever be variations of the main heros/villians. If they did an iota of research, TLG would see there are a metric SH-ton of collectors, with money, waiting for these "secondary" characters. 3. 95% of the builds from the super hero line are bunk. Where are our secret lairs? Our scenery to battle in? No, we get ugly boats and trikes. Yip-dee-doo. I am probably going to start B'linking the individual minis from now on, as the sets have lacked any imagination or style. Why waste my money, time and storage? I seriously cannot understand why TLG can't get with the program. Last year, when I began collecting again, I was so excited for the super hero line. TLG has managed to disappoint again. They have an easy money maker, right in their hands, and we get to watch them fumble around with it. Good times.
  24. Holy moly, Oky...these are really great. I hadn't seen your toy story racers, but I love these. Not only is the super hero theme very dear to me, the Batman: Brave and the Bold episode when Mongul makes everyone race is one of the best in the series, imo. These racers are a perfect homage to that wonderful episode. I voted for Penguin because it's a car that resembles a sliding penguin. It's so simple and brilliant!! I can't wait to see your marvel racers!!
