  1. Ok, I've ordered some of the first red space helmets. I'll give it a whirl on Miracle, along with some of the new hairpieces I have coming for Barda. I made some new WIPs last night, a Granny Goodness and an Oberon, but found I needed some more parts. I've made another sizable Bricklink order this morning, which made me realize I might have a problem...when will it ever stop? @oo7: To further explain, for Miracle's face, I would like non-descript eyebrows and a very small mouth, preferably not smiling or frowning. I have an old SW Luke and it actually might work quite well. Thanks for the suggestion.
  2. @I'm aBrickmaster: Thanks for the compliment, but really, give autorazr the credit. His GR on the last page got me going. @ReZourceman: Just keep bring the great ideas. My lil collection is so much cooler with you around. ;) @Captain Nemo: Daaaang. Atomic Skull is particularly cool. @oo7: I guess I don't have a classic red helmet...only blue and yellow. I'm going to Bricklink a few red helmets though. Even if I don't use it on Mr.Miracle, I know I'll find a use for them. The issues I have with the helmet on MM are odd: 1. I like seeing the whole face, which is more accurate, but I don't like how bulky his head is. I really feel, like Spiderman, that the tight, small head is better, even if it doesn't show the mouth. 2. I also don't really like the smile for this character. If the line was flat, I might like it more. As a relative newb, I'll have to research whether that part exists. 3. I want Bad Barda to be noticeably taller than her man. If you notice, I have 1x2 tile on her feet, only because I don't have any 1x1s (already ordered a bunch of 1x1s in a number of colors). With any additional height to MM, the effect won't stand out. Whew, sorry for the long winded explanation!
  3. A few of my friends don't like the big Hulk. They only like minifig bodies. Even when I pointed out the LotR/Hobbit needed new molds for their trolls, they still didn't like it. I am the opposite. I see the Marvel license, and to a lesser degree, DC, as a chance to make some really cool, new molds. I say the more new stuff, the better. Hulk is a little large, imo, but maybe he won't seem so big once there are some other large characters around.
  4. I come from a tabletop miniatures background and have lots of experience with various paints and sprays. I've never, however, applied them to Lego pieces. Citadel spray is specifically made to not cover up details. It goes on a bit wetter, so don't pick a damp or humid area to use it. Tamiya is good too, probably the most popular 'poor man's' spray out there for hobbyists. I imagine the various paint pens out there would work the best for manual application, but nothing will beat airbrushing. Airbrushing is a whole other skill, however, and expensive to set up. I am going to pick up the pens Hobbestimus mentioned and try them out--they sound cool.
  5. Green Arrow, Green Goblin, Green Lantern, Green Hornet...these guys should sort something out. Even after all these years, it still gets confusing. Nice minifigs, there Hammerstein NWC. I've enjoyed your other customs, so it's nice to see some of your stuff end up here. What green mask is that? It doesn't look like the old Robin mask... Lol, I just realized the silver SNOT piece I used on my Iron Monger wasn't some odd, random misprint of squiggly lines, which I liked. It is some print of a female minifig. I don't even know where it came from, lol.
  6. I agree. I've looked the Chima minifigs up and down and all over for some super hero customs, but a bunch of the pieces just don't work. It's frustrating, because they are close. The Rhino is a good example...so close but, in the end, so far.
  7. I received a bulk of new body parts in the mail yesterday. After taking a few hours to organize all the new stuff, I had time to get a few minifgis together and at least ready for some photos. Again, almost all of these are waiting for a part or two, but they are good enough to do some WIP photos. Also, thanks to Raincloud Dustbin, ReZourceman, oo7, Oky, Autorazr, Luxor V and anyone else who has inspired, given advice or just gave me something to straight-up copy. Y'all are cool people and this is way fun. Toad and Ice Man: Rogue and Gambit: Some Red Skull(s), Silver Age and military style: Straight jacked from ReZourceman, Mad Thinker and Awesome Android: My take on Ghost Rider and Iron Monger (another rip-off from my muse, ReZourceman): Definitely WIP Mr Miracle and Bad Barda: Well, that is all for now. Since I have a bit of body parts library going, however, I hope to have some more soon!
  8. Yeah, Oky--those rock. What is that face on Madame Web?
  9. Sweet scene. I also got four cops...out of 15 bags. My Gotham City Police force is now huge.
  10. Am I the only one who loves the show this set is based on? It has top-notch humor and writing, great action and a fresh, new (and welcome, imo) take on the Spidey mythos. I am very tired of the same stories, rehashed again and again. As a bonus, a huge number of possible minifigs lurk within... I agree with many in this thread about this set: Great price, awesome minifigs and some really cool vehicles.
  11. No way, man! The Awesome Android alone makes it a great batch. :p
  12. Yay!! I have 4 policemen, a bunch of doubles and only six of the series...after buying 15. Random isn't random...come to me, Bricklink, cuz I almost forgot how much I hate buying blind boosters. Also, not to offend anyone that doesn't mind doing it, I will never be seen, pawing away at LEGO packets, trying to surmise what is in it. Just...no. Also, at least half the packets I've come across at TRU and Target have been 'pre-sliced'. That is a problem.
  13. @ReZourceman: Nice offering...I love the Android and Armin Zola looks to be cool (I keep picturing a Sponge Bob face in there, lol). Your Modok, however, made me laugh a little...still, very recognizable. And Rocket Racer? Are we going to have a battle of the obscure going on here? @oo7: I have a some classic space helmets, so I will def try out your suggestion, but I think I will stay with the Spidey balaclava. I like the smaller proportion for Mr Miracle and since I have two of the heads coming, I can experiment a bit.
  14. Not the cheapest of hair pieces on the secondary market. Zod having it in a cheap set is sweet for purist custom fans, as it is a versatile look.
  15. I just made a Ghost Rider and used those legs! I really just wanted to mess with a motorcycle, but I didn't do anything as elaborate as you. I merely took an extra Wolvie cycle I had and 'flamed it up'. I'll post a pic and shout you out fot the idea in a few days (when I put pics up, I usually do it in batches). Anyway, thanks for the inspiration!
  16. Even though I've always had a tiny hate-on for Ghost Rider (Silver Surfer too...what a lame-O!!), that is an inspired piece, Autorazr. I'm loving the flamey backwheel. I thought GR was all black and chains, though. I have to admit, I like him better with browns and stuff..
  17. Yes to some more large super hero sets!! Also, I dream about one day getting a classic IM, all decked out in flat, primary, red and yellow. Heck, give me a big, 80s, 'Secret Wars' set and I'd joypuke.
  18. Great idea! I have a couple of those hooks lying around...I'll have to search for a cream wand piece though.
  19. Who will be the first to MOC up the warehouse from the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark? Cool crates, I want some.
  20. Well, I just Bricklinked two Spidey balaclava heads for .26cents apiece! I also got some other bit to make up a number of the Fourth World characters.
  21. ^^ Awesome.
  22. Man-o-man, perhaps I don't get the whole"respect" thing. I figure the wads of money I throw at TLG for their great products shows how much respect I have for the company and their wares...a lot! Also, as a fan of slang, vernacular and the nuances of dialect, both in history and present, I resent anyone or any company that tries to unnaturally curb language. If anything, TLG should be proud that their wonderful contribution to the toy world has become a popular, modern term. I have heard the term 'lego' used as a noun, adjective, even a verb! How versatile and cool is that?! Consider this quote: "Tonight, I am going to build stuff with my LEGO bricks. Afterwards, I will sort my LEGO parts into some new bins". The words 'bricks' and 'parts' could be dropped with no misunderstanding to the meaning of the quote. When I edit any writing, I often lose any words which do not contribute to the understanding of a particular sentence. When writing prose, perhaps extra words are nice, as they add to the 'sound' of the writing, which is important to the work. In the end, I'll use the term as I see fit. I will also continue to give TLG gobs of my hard-earned cash and speak highly of the company. If this makes me disrespectful in some people's eyes, I can live with it.
  23. This is very impressive, even when one take's into account the amount of drugs someone would need to pump into me, in order to make me watch that movie.
  24. Nice, thanks for the suggestions, oo7 (if I can track down that Spidey balaclava for Mr Miracle, that'll be a big win). I'm new to the minifig customizing and having a blast, but my knowledge of what is out there is only so-so. I have done a lot of research over the last few weeks, however. I have also gotten my first few Bricklink orders, which was a whole adventure in itself! As to the expense of the more eclectic parts, I don't really mind. I come from a tabletop miniature background. The cost of that hobby makes this seem cheap and easy. Plus, I'm in no rush.
