  1. Whoa...simply beautiful.
  2. I also love the x-verse, but struggle to make some of the important characters (looking at Beast!!). I did recently make a Leech, which I am sure you can imagine, once you take a look at his costume/outfit...just no bug eyes. Keep up the great work, you are inspiring me to get back into it, myself.
  3. ianmrid, your stuff is superb. You have been very active lately, which is awesome. I sort of ran out of good characters...even obscure ones I love. That said, I do have a few more I've made...I'll post them soon! I still want to chrome my Ultron up. He is identical to yours, but with greys. Great job. Cannonball is getting stolen into my collection. Very creative tracer, there.
  4. Awesome. I'd buy this in a second if it were a LEGO release.
  5. I wanted at least one of each turtle, Splinter and a Shredder, so I bought Kraang Lab Escape, Shredder's bike and the lair. The lair is the only set that had a fun build (the "lab" isn't too bad, but it's just a scenery piece, at that price point). I am happy with the minifigs (I quite like the foot soldiers and dark ninja too), but the sets are underwhelming...I have my eye on the Baxter's robot set, but $50 is a bit steep, imo. Hopefully, we'll see a sale or something, as I'd really like an April and a mouser bot.
  6. I assume there would much QQing if this rumor doesn't se fruition? I know I'd be leading the pack, lol. Ooof, I hope not. The X-men are so important, imo, to the MU. Imo, Marvel is set up too differently than DC to treat them the same and it's one of the reasons I feel the super hero line is a bit underwhelming. There are three, distinct themes within Marvel: 1. Avengers/FF...these are your big, bad heros and villians. Conflicts often range form apocalyptic to cosmic. 2. Mutants...your socially aware group, this is my favorite story line in Marvel. Mutant powers trumped science experiments, imo. 3. Marvel Knights...or, Spidey Friends, lol. Y'know? Punisher, DD, etc. I mention the obvious stuff above, to point out how it just doesn't work to treat these two licenses the same. Not to mention, Marvel has way more successful exposure going on for the past few years. Movies, cartoons, etc...why TLG seems reluctant to give these themes the treatment they deserve is beyond me. We all know how AFOL are fairly big spenders...take our money, LEGO group!!! We beg you!!!
  7. I am quite interested in what others have to say, whether I agree with it or not. I don't think he was being negative in his post, rather expressing a criticism. I would wager that we all want better sets from the line and love TLG. We shouldn't shy away from criticism. Without it, things rarely ever improve. On topic: Why are some folks so sure there will be another big, exclusive set, like Arkham Asylum? Did I miss some news for this rumor?
  8. The more I think about the super hero theme and how TLG handles it, the more ticked off I get. They don't even get what they have and they don't know how to handle it. If it were a legal thing, which I am sure does gum up the works, I'd be less critical. It isn't that, however...it is TLG just not getting it. Super heros are iconic, have huge audiences from many age groups and ethnic backgrounds and DC and Marvel have more source material than SW and LotR combined...Yet, for some reason, LotR/Hobbit has had four $100+ sets (which are all awesome), the smaller sets actually have scenery to let you know which universe you are in and there are just more sets to choose from a variety of prices. Heck, even the Lone Ranger had more sets in their initial wave and featured really great builds. What is TLG's problem here? I could go on and on...but I will spare you all the diatribe. Sorry, I've just really been bothered the more I think about it. I will just conclude that it is my opinion that someone, whoever is running the super hero theme for TLG, has no clue how to maximize this property into great sales for them and good toys for us.
  9. First, I'll just say that the super hero minifigs are some of the best produced by TLG. If I've always been critical of the super hero builds, I must give credit where it is due--not many of the super hero minifgs aren't top-notch. 1. Venom 2. Dr Doom 3. Joker (new--both prison suit and normal are sweet) 4. Harley Quinn (again, awesome to have two versions) 5. Joker henchman 6. Scarecrow (new version) 7. Poison Ivy (new version) 8. Two-Face (I like the new version better) 9. Catwoman 10. Wonder Woman Like I said, I have love for the other characters as well, so it's hard not to shout out a few more, like Iron Fist, Nova, hooded RObin, etc. These are the few I am not too keen on, however (admittedly, some of them are more to do with how the character was represented in the shows/movies than the minifig design): 1. Hawkeye...I didn't even like how he looked in the movie, but I'm a comic guy, so no surprise. 2. Mandarin...I just think he looks chubby with that bulbous beard. 3. Lois and Black Widow...I put these in the same slot because they suffer from the same thing: Bad representations of already bad changes to the character (sorry, Lois will always have black hair and Black Widow will always have very red hair--both looks are as iconic to the character, for me, as a shield on Cap or cape on Batman) 4. Nick Fury...I will never understand Marvel's decision regarding this character. He will always be what he was to me, with the hair, eyepatch, cigar and caucasion complexion. The minifig isn't bad, on TLG's part...I can just not come to grips with him. And, here are a few suggestions for future minifigs I'd love to see: 1. Man-Bat 2. Clayface 3. The whole x-universe!! 4. Red Skull Cap needs his arch enemy!!) 5. Abomination (a big one--to fight mah Hulk!!)
  10. Well, picking Arkham Asylum is akin cheating, imo, since it beats out all other super hero sets by a wide margin. This is expected, however, by how much one pays for it. Here are my choices from the "general population": 1. Quinjet...I think this vehicle stands up to pretty much anything from SW, which features great vehicles. 2. Funhouse...this set got me back into LEGO...I was amazed by how fun and simple it was and thought the minifigs were truly fantastic. After that set, I thought, "I better check out what else LEGO has going on". $2K later and still going strong (just please, no one tell my wife!!). 3. From here, we get a significant drop-off in terms of good builds and interesting sets. Either the Batplane/Joker copter or Batmobile/Two-Face truck...both are cool, imo, even though the Batvehicles are pretty small. Pretty much every other super hero set, imo, has been only desirable due to the minifigs that come with it. The Batman stuff is pretty good, across the board, but the other super hero themes need work. The MoS builds are almost a joke and say nothing to the environment of the theme, the IM3 sets were very 'blah' (the mansion had potential, if it were a bit bigger), the USM builds are average...really, aside from a few alright vehicles and some small environments, the whole super hero line is only there for the minifigs, which remain, as ever, amazeballs.. One start toward improvement would be to take all the extra pieces...say, the really bad copter from Stark's Mansion...get rid of that junk and make the "mansion" more...mansion-y!! Duh, right? Doc Ock's car-thing? GONE!! Doc Doom's heli-plane? Wish I'd never seen it...how about a little more depth to the Bugle or some city-scenery to toss around? What's up with that little plane from the Helicarrier? Wouldn't you rather have had more Helicarrier?!? Sorry for the long winded post, but I got a bit amped when I realized I was having trouble finding a third, great set to mention from the superhero lines.
  11. I looked at the Man of Steel sets up close yesterday at the LEGO store...Ugh, I didn't buy any of them. I want them to be good sets, but they just aren't. I ended up finishing out the Lone Ranger line, which features fantastic builds. I'm getting that Clark Kent mini, though!
  12. I really do not like this set...really, really do not like this set. It's ironic, however, that I need two of them for some purist customs I am doing. In the end, $20 isn't too bad for three minifigs, one of which is female, with capes and armor and a new gun to boot.
  13. Yeah, sorry...I'll be good, promise. ;) I built the stagecoach last night and I love it. At $30, I can't recommend it enough.
  14. Seriously? If you want people to back you up, stop pestering...and start using PMs. Also, your opinion is so far down on the scale of importance in my life and I am sure most others feel the same. We don't troll on these forums, so go somewhere else with that behavior. Please. Also, I got the Stagecoach the other day, to with the Silver Mine I already picked up. I just want to reiterate how fantastic these sets are--like, the best in years, imo...coming form someone who is not even interested in LR...just great sets.
  15. I think it would not be wise for TLG to make decisions based on their target customers lack of funds. I want bigger sets and more sets per IP zand I have the money for them...right now. I don't know how many like me there are, but I know where there is one... Lone Ranger is the perfect variety of sets, imo. Great prices, great toys; one can only hope the super hero themes are selling enough to warrant TLG making more sets.
  16. TrU prices are crazy...why do they mark-up so much? I bought some IM sets there, but got $25 0ff of $100, so no big, right? I just don't get how TrU stays in the LEGO game with their prices? Now that the LR sets are in others stores, why buy at TrU?
  17. Lol, nice job--I did the same thing. I bet a few of us had this character pegged once we saw the minifigs from LR. Great sets, too. Also, ianmrid, great contributions to this awesome thread--welcome to Eurobricks--keep 'em coming!
  18. I built the silver mine over the weekend and I must say, I enjoyed it immensely. Great details, tons of playability, great minifigs (I also picked up the cavalry builder)...I loved the set so much, I'm picking up the stagecoach and the town set on my way home and even plan on scooping the train set. I could care less for the Lone Ranger, but these are great builds that any western fan can dig.
  19. @Autorazr: Dormammu are Pyro my favorites...but I'm a bit of a pyro myself, so... ;) @Toothpick...whenever I have a big batch, I photo them in pairs to cut down on the pic count. I like a lot of your obscure stuff--Detecive Chimp? Lol...Nice Namor and Bucky too.
  20. Wow, haven't checked back in a bit...also haven't had any time to make any new minifigs...been traveling for work. Looking good, everyone... 1. That Jonah Hex is awesome and I really love the character. 2. Metallo...I don't know where you guys come up with this stuff, but man is that cool! 3. @ReZourceman...nice group shot...kinda overwhelming and you might have to get a wider lens, soon! Btw, what head is that for your Mystique? I don't think I've seen that one before.
  21. What you have described is my point: It is lame to lump a 'super hero' theme together. Super heros are a different beast than most properties and I hope TLG gets that. I think it will/would make them a lot of money. It would be awesome if they were holding back news for some pleasant surprises...more sets and some bigger sets, namely.
  22. At what point does TLG realize they have a good thing on their hands--super heros are a product that have made many companies money for many years--and increase the number of sets per year? Other movies get tons of sets (Lone ranger) and nice, expensive, flagship pieces. I'm not even talking about a set like Arkham Asylum. Give me a nice, $100 scene or something. At some point, someone at Marvel and DC and TLG and Disney need to realize that the category 'Super hero' doesn't cut it. There is DC. There is Marvel. Each of those could be broken down, of course. Anyway, enough TL;DR...I just hope the powers that be realize that with fans of these franchises, "if you build it, they will come".
  23. Thanks! I was pleasantly surprised with the new IM3 sets--they have a lot to offer in the purist dept. @Wall E2624: What torso and head did you use for your MM? I am a shameless idea thief (half my collection was inspired by ReZourceman) and I want to steal him.
  24. Sinister's head and Morph's head are both from the new Iron Man stuff. The best I could get was close to TM...I used a bright green head at first, but went with red to match an old action figure I had from the 90's.
  25. Sorry for the double post, but when I try and link this pic to the first post, it only shows up as its original, huge size. Anyway, Madelyne Pryor and Mr. Sinister (digging some of the new super hero parts):
