Custom PF rail trucks, how to question...
Spitfire2865 replied to edsmith0075's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I would suggest you dont do Lego outside. There was an article here about that a while ago by Locomotive Annie I think. Well, if you are dead set on doing lego outdoors, you will want to find an alternative track system rather than the Lego brand track. Sunlight does horrible things to Lego. -

Oh very nice. What brand are those side steps? They look interesting. -
Custom PF rail trucks, how to question...
Spitfire2865 replied to edsmith0075's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Couldnt you just use the loco to power the train? The EN was designed to be used with a PF motor in the cab. And to answer the question, a PF train bogie motor has all the gearing in the bogie itself. But if you want to use XL motors with gearing for the bogies, The vertical drive axle acts as the pivot in MOST if not all designs. I dont understand your question entirely, so if what Im saying doesnt help at all, Im sorry. Oh, and your link to the flickr page doesnt work. It would help if you had some pictures of the issue you are having as your description is a bit hard to follow. -
Thanks. When I built my general, I built the boiler studs up and the taper used a lot of cheese slopes and jumper plates. If I get around to rebuilding it, I will have to use your design. I just love your loco.

No, I was just curious. I would love to buy some but I need money. Haha. Model railroading is an expensive hobby, Lego is as well.

Simply amazing. I love all the little details. The bell caught my eye. Amazing use of handcuffs.

This is very beautiful. It makes me want to finish my long overdue General. What part did you use for the boiler taper?

MOC: A Steam Crane for the Kotanga Tramway.
Spitfire2865 replied to Locomotive Annie's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Very nice. I love almost any steam powered device. -
Its just mint implies never used. If you said its condition was like mint, then it would have made more sense. But it was my reading that was misleading.

Question about LEGO customerservice
Spitfire2865 replied to Little_russian_AFOL's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lego doesnt sell CMF parts, and I need the hooks in dark or light grey. -
Exactly what are they made of? 3D printing? Or a lego mod? They look very nice and I can see them being useful in almost any build.

If its mint then why can you check the quality of the clutch? And also mint implies no use or wear. While lego usually is played with, anything with use would show wear. And the brick plastic has changed. But it doesnt mean its bad. Lego, over the years, has changed to safer chemicals for the plastic and dyes. And personally, I dont care if my clear bricks are crystal clear or not. Usually I cant tell anyway. Haha

Question about LEGO customerservice
Spitfire2865 replied to Little_russian_AFOL's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Does Lego still produce pirate hook hands? Im wondering if it would be of any use to contact them for about 20 hooks. I dont really want to use bricklink or ebay. -
Getting started in LEGO Trains - What to buy?
Spitfire2865 replied to MrTools's topic in LEGO Train Tech
All lego tracks are the same size in length and width. The 4.5V tracks can be connected to 12V tracks. 9V, PF, and RC tracks are all able to connect to eachother. But 9V uses metal conducting strips on the rails.- 191 replies

Well any rechargeable battery will loose its charge strength over time. So its bound to happen. But I have not noticed anything...but I dont run my trains often enough to see any difference. If anything its probably with use. The more times it is recharged the less any rechargeable battery will hold. I think thats how it works..

North American trains I dont believe ever used buffers. But I guess the decline in buffer use be attributed to the widespread change to special couplings for passenger trains. I know US freight trains still use knuckle couplings though.
