  1. Well, what kind of train are you trying to run exactly? For great torque, XL motor definately. For speed, the PF motor bogie, which doesnt have great low speed operation. Personally, I prefer using the motor bogies just because gear mechs are annoying while building steam locos. I usually find bugs with my designs half way through. But if youre good with Technic you should be fine with PF motors. Unless you want to do a PF XL motor bogie design. Those are relatively easy to make but a bit hard to incorporate later on in a build. So for that path, you should build around the motors rather than trying to fit it in later. Hope this helps. I realize its a bit complicated.
  2. I wouldnt mix different kinds of motors in the same train. All Lego motors have different speeds and torques and it really would end up probably damaging one of the motors.
  3. I can tell you now this would not go well with the Constitution. The colors and overall design do not match those of the American west. Although...this would look interesting with a futuristic train. I would try to do something like that. Might be a nice experiment.
  4. They arent on Legos website? Hmm. I remember they had the 12V instructions before. And yes I realize 12V is from the 80s. Well If they dont have it I cant help. Good luck!
  5. You may be able to find the building instructions on Legos website. You could always take the file and take out the main picture. Should be good enough for your purposes.
  6. No I mean why not use just box art.
  7. Box art?
  8. Electricsteam was referring to himself I think.
  9. Very nice. Interesting use of train wheels.
  10. Maybe if model railroading in general grew again, Lego would see the use of train systems. But I dont see much chance. Lego has settled for a basic track system. I guess we should hope BBB gets the new track system working.
  11. Also 12V rails give a monorail 2 different radius curves! Something rarely seen with Lego!
  12. I mean the outrigger. Does it just hop over the other rail on points. Because it would be a considerable bump. But yeah. Im just an idiot who cant imagine the wheel going over the rail.
  13. Very nice. I still dont understand how locos like this negotiate points. Haha
  14. Well, With hands, I usually find that the problem is either a crack in the arm or the ridge on the peg of the hand is worn down. If the arm isnt cracked, changing the hand might help. Or changing the arm. Either way that problem should be fixed. I wouldnt put anything on the loosened parts. Maybe for the long run, getting replacements would be best. Yes they probably would be used, but you just have to hope it wasnt used Too much. Hope this helps a bit.
  15. which part of the switch exactly? The frog or the points? If its the points your switch may be damaged. But the EN does have many running issues anyway. Does it happen on only one switch? Or on every switch it goes over?
  16. The Nights are taking over!!! Haha. Very nice mods.
  17. Which direction of travel is it going when it derails and on what part of the switch. Also, what wheels derail.
  18. Now THAT is interesting. I just dont understand how turnouts work with the outrigger wheels. Does the wheel just hop over the rail?
  19. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/0-3-0 Heres a somewhat interesting loco. They use wheels as a sort of out-rigging.
  20. But with school and other hobbies, I dont know.
  21. Your question is answered in the article. One of the last things stated.
  22. Gahhh Seeing all these wacky locos and such makes me really sad that I cant find time to make mine!
  23. Very nice review. Oh, and I am one of "those people" who bought the Ghost Train. Haha.
