  1. I've followed the progress on Flickr, it is really looking great!
  2. Great designs, they gave me a lot of inspiration for some designs of my own. Did/does such a big diesel engine really pull a passenger train in the US?
  3. Thanks Thank you Thank you LT12V I found the motor which will turn the table, but the mechanics don't work out as I planned. So I will first make sure it works before I start handing out advice.
  4. Thank you, I don't mind making some extra pictures, just say from what/which angle. Thanks The start is quick, but I'm having finals in the coming months and I am going on holiday this summer for 1,5 month so the whole will probably not be finished before early September. I read some things about power loss before and was already thinking of adding some kind of wire which directly connects the first and last track pieces and every piece in between. Thank you
  5. It has been a while… Some of you know me from my previous layout. This layout has been taken apart and the new version is now under construction. I made my plans for this new layout early March. Planning by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr A big thank you to scruffulous for the BlueBrick files he sent me once. I had a small list of things I really wanted to have in my layout: - long or large curves as described by Railbricks and Cale Leiphart. - a turntable, better looking and functioning than my previous design - it has to be modular for easy transport - it has to connect properly to the other layout builders at LowLUG. I first laid the basplate and added track to see if my idea actually fitted, it did! Next where some tiles to mark the edge of the areas which should be tiled to support the track: Then the fun really began, building actual modules: Layout V5.0 work in progress 8-4-15 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Layout V5.0 work in progress 9-4-15 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Work in Progress update 13-04-2015 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr After a couple of days building I made a start with the turntable: Some more foundations and landscaping Update 20-04-2015 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr And this is the current state of progress: Work in Progress update 21-04-2015 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Work in Progress update 21-04-2015 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr I will try to add updates every time I added something.
  6. If you add a frame of technic bricks connected with pins you have a fairly strong base. If you overlay that with plates it would be quite strong (personal experience with layouts). But I'm not sure if that's enough for such a big structure.
  7. I can't agree more! This is exactly the way you should look at it.
  8. Dying is easy, it's living that's hard - Ozzy Osbourne

  9. It looks quite good, my only question is, are you going to put some framework around the bogies on the engine, they look quite odd now.
  10. It already looks great Thank you for posting some shots about the inner structure, there were some new techniques and constructions there.
  11. The scene looks great, and it definitely has that Belgian industrial park feel to it.
  12. Your model looks great, I agree with ScotNick about the bogies, perhaps you could build the springs out of 1x1 round plates
  13. Thank you very much Here are some pictures of the group layout: Link to more pictures Lowlug Meeting by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Lowlug Meeting by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Lowlug Meeting by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr I have some good and bad news: The bad news first, my part, as seen here, will be taken apart. The good news is, the parts will be used to build a new layout with even more detail, at least that the goal.
  14. Thank you, the track is regular 9v track like detjensrobert said. Thanks, the layout is packed and ready for sunday. Packing by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Packing by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr
  15. As your profile suggests you are dutch, have a look here: http://www.lowlug.nl/
  16. I think you could consider my musical preferences as metal too, although I am more a fan of the older, more known bands. Black Sabbath Iron Maiden Metallica Rammstein Saxon Slayer Rage Against the Machine (is this considered metal?) Mötorhead Judas Priest They are not the most extreme and heavy bands known, but who cares.
  17. Thank you Thanks, money became a big issue for the original plans so they were changed.
  18. Another update: Lego Layout 4 [Main] by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Lego Layout 4 [Details] by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr More pictures Thanks for looking
  19. Thank you Thanks, more updates are definitely planned! Thank you for the compliments, your trains are something I'm envious about
  20. It has taken a while, but here is a new update: There now is a cell tower on the layout. Work in progress 5 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Work in progress 5 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Work in progress 5 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Work in progress 5 by UrbanErwin(EPJL), on Flickr Just 2 more modules and this part of the project is finished. (don't worry I have more plans than budget ) Comments, criticism and compliments are welcomed.
  21. This would make more sense, there are other iconic cars from the series too, like the electric home build car.
  22. Wow, nice you got all the PF in such a small engine. perhaps you can replace the front and back with flex tube cut to length, you can even bend it to fit the shape it requires.
  23. That is funny, I remember buying this superpack for perhaps €10 more than the individual train. The train itself was just inside the big box with the other sets is their own smaller boxes.
  24. Thanks for the advice, I will keep this in mind the next time Thank you for the compliments Thanks Thanks, you are the first to notice the door.
