  1. What I'd really like to see is an extension of the PF system that allows way more channels (e.g. by bluetooth), and a snap-on motor to automate switches. Combine these, and you'll get a lot of remote-controlled switches. I'm guessing a lot of people would buy these if it's affordable, and it would in my opinion make the PF train system more mature.
  2. Cool little engine. I hope TLG comes out with smaller battery boxes so making this type of engine will become easier
  3. Marvellous. I like how you brick-build the bow, and all the details that go on the inside. Excellent piece of work.
  4. Then I assume they'll bring out a new train expert creator set with the possibility to motorize it using the new components. I'm very curious now.
  5. Very nice, and unexpected
  6. Flex track is just like alcohol: 1 or 2 is great and gives you joy and helps you relax. Too much of it makes you all wobbly. I like the flex track, but only just a couple. I have a huge amount of flextrack unused, most even sealed.
  7. Very cool. Reminds of my youth when I spend hours browsing through 7777. Theres an unloader system in there as well. It wasn't as good as yours, and there was no bricklink back then, so it was improvising. You've nailed it.
  8. Thanks everyone. Didn't know a simple thing like this would answer a question that was never asked ;-) I had been toying with trans-clear bricks as well, but I didn't like it. There's several ways to solve it: 1) learn the kid to spot the light through the receiver (you can see it if you look from the right angle) 2) trans-clear tiles/plates. I actually used a 2x8 technic plate, so light would come through it. (didn't like the looks of the clear plate instead of the black one) 3) redesign: I've now hooked up the PF lights directly to the battery box. When you switch on the battery, the lights of the train switch on. Thanks for triggering my thoughts so they wandered in this direction. I'm now even more happy with this solution.
  9. We regularly run a couple of quick laps with the Horizon Express when bringing my son to bed. Downside is that I have to take off the "lid", switch it on and put the lid back on. Then the same procedure to switch it off. I decided to make a quick mod of the roof part that covers the battery inspired by how the 7939 switches on and off. Taken slightly apart: I show it here as LDD screenshot because the pictures wouldn't make it clear. It works like a charm. Simply push the studs, and the battery switches on or off. You almost don't notice the difference with the original, but it's so much easier.
  10. I would really like to see a smaller PF battery box than the 88000. Preferably in such a way that it can fit various patterns on the side but still be within 4 wide. Also lower would be great, so that I can fit it on the bottom of a train instead of trying to hide it on top.
  11. I believe the initial concept for flextrack was to use it pairwise with straight track to create large turns, not just the flextrack by itself. I never see any mention of that. Anyone who uses it like that?
  12. I like it a lot, especially after that additional row of dark red
  13. Who cares? If you still want flex track, theres 7499. It would be interesting if they would add other track elements instead.
  14. It's simple: there's no nose on the lego classic face.
  15. Its visible in the Dutch S@H now. Unfortunately, its again 10 euros more than in Germany. I guess I'll be visiting Oberhausen in a couple of weeks.
  16. Including the sleepers I think it's exactly one brick high, which equals 9.6 mm
  17. I'll add some counterweight: I actually do like the story. It sets the scene, and gives the minifigs some character. It transforms a plain detective into a "looser" detective. It gives the crooks some smartness. Thats different from the city story line where the cops are good and the criminals are dumb.
  18. I build the small stuff in the attic where all our Lego is set up, but when it comes to modulars or other big builds, I prefer the dining room table. That last option comes with mandatory cleaning up.
  19. Looks like they forgot some of the tiles on the newspaper stand
  20. I could let that happen, but I dont have a few old buildings. I bought all my modulars within the last year, and I have 6 now. I want to enjoy those for a bit longer. Time to reassemble the city fire trucks my son has.
  21. Call and find out
  22. It's the cookies fault. Turning good minifigs into criminals.
  23. Just noticed it as well. Is this in other countries as well?
  24. I would suggest to reduce the blue surfaces a bit by making the window larger and breaking up the pattern with something.
  25. Oh man, and I thought I was almost finished. I do have some moc and mod ideas though.
