Love me some Justice Magician with knockoff Harry, Ron & Hermione to boot!

Is there source material for this? I don't know if the scene is supposed to be a recreation of anything in particular but you pulled off the Imperial aesthetic masterfully. Nice job on the curved wall — and the flex tube near the ceiling gives the build a little extra interest. Good build and thanks for sharing!

[REVIEW] 76389 Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets
jimmynick replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for the review - been looking forward to these sets. I think the idea of taking us back to the modular castle of 2001/2002 is a great idea, especially since the quality of the builds in LEGO sets has improved so dramatically during the last 20 years. I have a soft spot for LEGO airports, possibly because the scale has to be entirely wrong for the build to be even tractable. It looks great — love the glass-sided building. Control tower looks authentic, too. Do I spot the new road plates? Nice build and thanks for sharing!

I like to insert images into my signature (and my posts) using BBCode rather than the 'insert image from URL' feature. So you'll write something using the tags as follows: [img]link 1[\img][img]link 2[\img] all in-line like that, and it should work just fine. Hope this is of some help, and my apologies if you've tried this already and found it doesn't work.

Was going to mention that the real show-stopper at the Johnson HQ is the hall full of those remarkable columns — amazed that the Atom Brick model explodes to reveal them. That's really cool.

(Moc) Tryphon Tournesol (Tintin's Comics)

I love it, it's perfect! (Except perhaps the collar - shouldn't there be a little gap in there to expose his neck?) Fabulous, instantly recognisable build. Thanks for sharing! -
Oooh this build is a looker! Been a while since I've seen any Chiss craft. Thanks for sharing!

Great joke, but I disagree with you on the notion of Star Wars as nostalgia. As @MAB points out, there is plenty of Star Wars content released all the time — so much so that I couldn't name it all. I know there's the Clone Wars (unless that's over by now? Not sure...), The Mandalorian, Rebels (or is that also over?) plus numerous comics. I like Eric Clapton. My dad sure knows how to implement Stockholm Syndrome . This claim is phrased as though you're totally making it up. As far as nostalgia goes as a reason for choosing which products to develop and release... I don't really mind either way. Nostalgia gets us nice stuff like the Space Shuttle and the Apollo lander too. I wouldn't mind original space sets either.

The Robie House *is* a well-known landmark... I put it to you that, on the other hand, that the "Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel", the "Dubai Frame", the "Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower", "555 California Street", the "CNA Center" (I lived in Chicago for 4 years and didn't give that carbuncle a second look), the "Bellagio Hotel LLC" and the "Encore at the Wynn" are not. IMO Architecture has been on a downward spiral since the release of the Villa Savoye... I resent the release of landmarks such as Trafalgar Square and (part of) the Louvre rather than smaller buildings of more niche appeal that could spark a more focused interest in architecture in a member of the public.

As necessary as another Big Ben or White House... I miss the Architecture line of ten years ago....

LEGO is absolutely killing it on the nostalgia front. Some examples off the top of my head: the classic minifigure packs the LEGO Movie Pete Reid's exo-suit Barracuda Bay re-releases of the big boi MF and DS Taj Mahal rerelease 20th Anniversary SW Figures Other products, like monorail, are bygones because (I think I've heard) the moulds no longer exist. But TLG do what they can to suck money from our wallets by leaning on nostalgia

Oh this is really cool, nice job! The stand looks sturdy & slick, and it holds the Slave I at a great angle. Thanks for sharing!

When I was a kid I had this lovely wooden tangram kit (still have it somewhere!) that included a leaflet, which showed an assortment of possible arrangements. The fun was in working out how to achieve the prescribed shape and noticing when something had gone wrong. Can't say I ever took that approach with the alt builds, but at least they were nice inspiration...

Thanks for the review, Makoy! I really enjoyed building the Hoth set that came with the promotion 2 years ago, but this one's even better considering the sunken courtyard and more complicated topography. Not sure I can justify breaking the bank on Star Wars LEGO at the moment though, so I'll just enjoy this one vicariously

False Memories and the Mandela Effect - Lego Edition
jimmynick replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in Community
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=7039bc02#T=C Like this? My grandparents held on to my dad's and aunt's LEGO from that period (including early homemaker!) and I got the chance to play with it when I was younger. Maybe they even still have it?- 14 replies

False Memories and the Mandela Effect - Lego Edition
jimmynick replied to TheAbsoluteSt81's topic in Community
Is it possible that you remembered looking at the idea books, the models in which may have contained unreleased parts? From seeing scans of these books on the web, it's evident that the builds sometimes get wacky and it's not beyond the realm of possibility that prototype legs managed to sneak their way in.- 14 replies

Hello Arad, and welcome to Eurobricks! Glad you've discovered LEGO with your son and are having fun with him.

Hello McMarky, and welcome to Eurobricks! Pneumatics seems a bit niche to me but I'm sure there's a great place for you in the Technic subforum. Hope you have a great time here!

Not much to say - your builds are always awesome. The mannequins in the windows of the fashion store remind me a little of autons from Doctor Who . The interior looks a little cramped, and you must have weighed this against the effect of having a façade on the front and back - what tipped the balance for you?

Mystery on the Excelsior - Conclusion
jimmynick replied to Bob's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks for running the game Bob sorry I was not as active as I had meant to be, I've been distracted by work and life and cycling -
The stand almost dwarfs the plane! No reason it couldn't have been like a Star Wars UCS, with a little plaque and stand for the figure while the model sits by itself. Could have saved some of the budget to make the map a printed tile!

Mine is that not every nice MOC has to be an IDEAS submission. Half the time the responses to nice MOCs are "you should submit this on IDEAS" without the recognizing that, generally speaking, it's impracticable to turn truly stellar builds into sets.
